Goose,

These poll options are so pro Dubas, no room for any other choices.

Instead of presenting all these non-choices why don't start a thread about why you don't like Shanny moving on from Dubas.

I have no idea why you think that nothing can be accomplished between now and next season.

See what the summer brings.
If we make the shift to a more battle willing group I’ll start to get excited. I don’t really care about the names on the back of the sweater so I won’t care who gets moved as long as we improve our competitive playoff spirit. Standing pat and hoping the core 4 finally grow a pair would be extremely disappointing.

The more I think about it, the more I’m okay with Dubas being gone. We all wanted to shake it up, well this sure sends a message, throw in his coach and we’re embarking on a fresh path. The cozy atmosphere is gone, a couple key trades and we might see a re-energized team. There are still many great pieces here, we have an expansive front office with a lot of talent, it’s become clear than Shanny was in on some of these deals we all praised, Dubas leaving isn’t necessarily a chaotic situation, to me it feels like a seismic shift, which again we’ve all been suggesting.

As of this very moment I'm not terribly optimistic. Too many big question marks and too many uncertainties. I think trying to sort out a new GM, and likely new coach, all while trying to figure out the Matthews situation is pretty close to a worse case scenario the first 6 weeks of an offseason.

Things CAN succeed if Shanahan gets the right GM whose able to work quickly with the right moves. I fair case can be made the organization needed a shakeup.

So I guess it's "too soon to say" which is a bit of a copout of an answer, but it's an accurate one

I feel like Shanahan isnot getting enough flack for his own awful decisions, I'd like to see him go over his insane idea of giving Dubas MORE term after his awful first 5 years which were unacceptable not necessarily that I SO disagree with his decisions (apart from letting the 3 rookies own you in terms of contract negotiations), but in terms of results.

Just the notion that you wanted to give Dubas a contract BEFORE we saw what HIS core did in the playoffs is just insane, beyond insane really.

That said in terms of assets this team is going to get monster return for either one or all of Marner, Matthews, Nylander, not only in terms of prospects/players back, but in cap space.

If they do however get buck broken by Matthews, Marner and Nylander and they all stay with massive contracts, I will continue to support them the way I do, sportsnet highlights of games. My expectations of this core are a yearly playoff humiliation ritual.

For me I definitely want to see one of the three go and an explicit effort to get rid of Tavares, short of that I'll know it's the same old Leafs.

Whether it's not getting Sundin help
Whether it's the following 10 years post lockout of not doing a proper rebuild and retooling trash
Whether it's somehow thinking an all rookie cast can get it done and then treating those rookies like Gods when they haven't accomplished f*** all

More continuation of futility and my expectations are not just 0, but negative
The decision to renew his deal before the playoffs is very concerning to me as well. The only hope I have is that both Dubas and Shanny know who the problem child(s) are on the team and if they shit the bed again they would move them and in that case it wouldn't be on Dubas that the team didn't perform. I know it's a stretch to type that, but in reality if what I just said is not the case then we have a really big problem in leaving Shanny in charge. It's almost scary to think he could flip flop like that on Dubas over a salary demand when they over pay pretty much everyone...now they get stones to stop the overpaying? Doesn't make sense.

Why? Dubas is the only capable GM in the world that can take all this talent to 1 playoff round victory in 7 attempts?
Not at all. First of all, a new GM may want to install a new coach. Beyond that, the team has a number of pending UFAs. The team may or may not improve (significantly?) and may or may not look quite different along the way.

I feel better. Recently I've lost interest in watching this team. Very clearly this team is missing something, whether it be coaching, accountibility from management, or the core... But we just kept doing the same thing. I have a little bit more excitement about next season.

I think we need another high end d to be legit cup contenders, like a good #2, and I don't see how we get that. Schenn masked things to a degree by playing over his head and above expectations but you can't count on that next year. Brodie is getting older and doesn't look like he's capable of being a good top 4 dman in the playoffs anymore when the pace is faster and teams are forechecking the way they do.

JT had 80 pts but only because he had a huge amount of ppp this year but was just an average 2c at even strength and was invisible in a lot of playoff games. Don't be surprised if JT has 50-60 points next year and the big 4 is now just the big 3.

I think our window to be legit contenders is closing fast which is why I'd have no problem with a rebuild.

We will be fine once they announce that Keefe is gone. Those two should have been fired as soon as the whistle went to end game 5 and our season

I'm excited for what lies ahead. Dubas is gone. Keefe is surely to follow suit. Hopefully the new GM (and coach) can take this thing to the next level.

I’m interested in seeing how everything plays out. It’s not the end of the world like many are proclaiming. I will hold judgement on the GM till I see how things play out. For some no matter who the GM is they will be upset. I was excited with Burke,Lou and Dubas and things never worked out. Even if I don’t like the GM hired at first I’ll give them a chance as the others I liked never worked out.

We are a disaster right now, front office is a gong show. But I am intrigued with the possibility of trading some of this core and the returns we can possibly get to help us build back up again.

33% of the big moves I wanted to happen this offseason have already happened. We haven't even finished the 3rd round of the playoffs yet. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that we're ahead of schedule.

Well, I wasn't a really Kyle Dubas guy when he was here, didn't like a good percentage of moves he made on an annual basis anyway, and all the offseason unknowns are still to be resolved.

I do like that they cleaned house a bit on the sense of entitlement that seemed to start at the GM level, that we saw as low down on the pecking order as a Rasmus Sandin negotiating hard and posturing with no leverage last summer, so maybe this will signal a culture shift for the better.

Chaos. At a very imperfect time. Forced to hire the best GM available as opposed to the best GM possible. Critical decisions to be made within weeks. Will have to wait to see who they hire. But my gut just screams Treliving and i have huge doubts
