People talking about this being a great exciting game are pissing me off. Oilers got off to a quick start due to a bit of luck, depth, and PPs - Shesterkin took a few minutes to get his head in the game then shut us out for 45 minutes. After the 1st we were outshot a billion to one and basically completely dominated.
The skill/ability, lack of intelligence and effort on display after a lucky 1st period was utterly embarassing.
This wasn't a great back and forth game, it was an atrocity that we deserved to lose.
We're also shite at OT and SO now for the 1st time in franchise history. The best players in the league cant buy a shootout goal. Theyre lucky to get it on net.

If you are up 4-1 in a hockey game and don't come out with a win, you didn't play well.

Using a breakout that is designed to counter a trap when there is no trap with a team built for the rush is coaching idiocy 101. It’s remedial level AHL / ECHL plug coaching.

I think people are overall ok with the point.
It’s the play over the last 5 games against weaker teams and only 1 win in 5 games that has people frustrated.
The game was entertaining yes. But also showed how flawed we are on defense.
In general you should not lose a game where you are up 4-1 and dominating. I imagine people are frustrated about that too. Which is fair

I’m happy with the point but really the critique of Woodcroft is fair. That said I think half this team has the flu so the point is probably more than we should have gotten against the leagues hottest team.

I can’t remember the last coach we had here where I didn’t think the inmates were running the asylum.
You need a coach that has a massive ego and a massive belief in their system that they won't cave and just let lazy habits creep in. You need a Torts, Sutter, maybe Babcock style coach, otherwise this team just walks over the predictable "well ... ok .... you can do 300 lazy things and still win so I guess I can't criticized that and just need to learn to ride the McDrai wave babeeeeee!" coach thing.
You need someone who will shit a brick if the team doesn't play their system even if they win 5-3 based on skill alone and will rip them a new asshole after a game like that. Tippett and Woodcroft don't have the balls to do that, Hitch used to but he was way too far into his friendly grandpa phase to do it.

He's trash, gave up another 2-on-1 leaving Nurse hung out to dry again this game just like the last one, is lucky the Oilers didn't get scored on both times.
We played well for 1 period and got our shit kicked in the 3rd

I think they need 2 defenders. That should be the priority. Broberg has turned around my opinion of him but he’s not reliable enough in a playoff series.

This should be the defense moving forward. Bouchard should be traded for one of the X’s.
Broberg isn't that great yet. It's clear the boost they got that last stretch was because of Desharnais, because they looked like shit defensively the few games before with Broberg and now look like ... well shit again with Broberg.
