Lol
This breakout was epic

Nurse/Ceci pairing trying to get the puck out and defend a lead in the 3rd period

What the hell has happened to Ceci? He has turned into off the glass and out or burger flip it out. I can see why the players want puck movers with who they have passing to them.
Normally you are 100% right but with about a minute left in the 3rd he did hit a Ranger along the boards after they entered the Oilers zone, then took the puck and made a beautiful breakout pass leading to a good rush.

I notice he will typically hit/pin the opponent flying up the boards but not before they get off a pass or kick the puck to a teammate leading to 2 on 1s (since our 1st line back checking is typically trash)

This place is too much. Great game. Yeah we lost but we got a point and almost won against the hottest team in the league.

Bunch of cry babies on this site.

Watch the Rangers stomp the Flames tomorrow. We played well. Should have won in OT.
We had 2 shots in the third period. We were dominated in the last half of the game.

Disagree. Keep Bouchard move Barrie. Barrie is only going to get worse
Barrie has a very nice contract moving forward. It also expires at the right time.

Bouchard is going to be overpaid very soon. He’s going to follow the exact same contract vs performance arc that Nurse did. Paid too much and not consistent enough for that amount.

Let some other team have to deal with that headache. It’s not worth it.

I'm not against the Oilers moving Bouchard in a deal for Karlsson, Erik is more experienced and showing that points wise he's still in his prime ! Despite what you think of Erik's defensive play, he's an improvement to the Oilers D.

I’m so torn on Bouchard. I’m just so high on him long term but what I’ve seen lately is just his compete isn’t there. For such a big body he uses it very little.

Not saying he is Fox. But watching Fox walk the line tonight makes me miss when Bouchard did that. Where did that confidence go

I think they need 2 defenders. That should be the priority. Broberg has turned around my opinion of him but he’s not reliable enough in a playoff series.

Nurse - X
X - Ceci
Kulak - Barrie
Broberg - Desharnais

This should be the defense moving forward. Bouchard should be traded for one of the X’s.
Have been saying this since October. D needs to be improved top down with highest priority to find a 1RD stabilizer for Nurse.

Probably because he doesn't have the skill to thread the puck through 10 sticks to the 3 forwards on the opposing blueline so he goes with the safe play.

Maybe the idiot behind the bench should construct a breakout that actually works.

Don’t say that too loudly. Lots of Woody defenders on here! :)

On any other team without McDavid and Drai and team under woody is in a lottery position.

We win in spite of him. Not because of him.

f*** this game ruined my night.
The getting one point salvaged it a bit for me. I was actually more mad about the last game.

I get it though lol. Sucks to piss away a 4-1 win.

If they were down 4-1 after 20 minutes and battled back to get at least a point, there'd be some complaining but not as much. Up 4-1 after 20, just to blow it while mustering 2 shots in the 3rd warrants the complaints in my opinion. If it was a one off, whatever. But this team and coaching staff has shown time and again, they cannot handle holding a multi goal lead.

New Jersey, tonight, St. Louis, Colorado...there's four points alone just handed to the other team on a platter when they were up by two goals at some point in the 3rd.

Mac T actually probably. Mac T did run a hard ship, they just didn't ever have much talent except well 2006 of course.

Country club atmosphere from the coach really wasn't a thing until post Mac T for the Oilers org. Now it's become the norm and probably taken to new heights with Jay "lets not kill the vibe here by practising too hard boys" Woodcroft.

Sather ran hard practises so did Mac T because he learned from Slats.

This team is like a sinking ship. Up 4-1 & Campbell making all the important saves. We need at least 2 defencemen. Stop sittning on your hands Holland. Go get Karlsson & Parayko. NOW!!!!!!

Based on what?
Barrie is getting better and Bouchard is going the other way.

If age is what you are going by then we should start looking at trading away Kane, Hyman and Nuge as well who are all around 30.

Bottom part silly. We are looking at moving one of them, do you move the almost 32 year old whose game is slowly declining or the 23 year old in his second NHL season having a rough season after an excellent rookie year?

5v5 the play near identical minutes and Bouchards numbers are better outside GF% which is explained by a tough PDO for Bouchard.

We are looking at Karlsson and he takes Barrie’s role and we need him gone for the cap anyways.

We're just going to let teams score multiple goals on the PK against us every game until the deadline and piss away multiple points in the process because we need to hold Puljujarvi's useless ass until the very last hour of the trade deadline period - just things that are accepted in Oiler-land and on no other competitive NHL team.

I would rather have the player who helps us win in the next couple years. Bouchard can only dream of scoring the goal Barrie scored tonight.

I don't see how Barrie is 'slowly declining ' ..he seems to be slowly improving on the defensive end

I take the guy with better numbers than Barrie who is only 23 and is having a “bad year”. I’d put my money on him being clearly better than Barrie next year too
