We could have drafted him in 2010 but passed on him in the 2nd Round. We drafted some guy named Brad Ross & we could of had Ryan Spooner or Tyler Toffoli. One of the worst draft years for the Leafs.
Yea Brad Ross, the player that was suppose to be the Leafs version of Brad Marchand.

Too much one and done, will never work in playoffs, looked like a bad team with a popgun offense trying to win by volume shooting.

Blind passes to empty slot, no one around the crease when shots are taken, TO players not taking shots on the few occasions there is someone in front of the opposition's net, Nylander went to the net last year but rarely this year, way too much passing nobody taking the puck to their net, I thought Ottawa had far more dangerous shots, this is bad and the same Leaf team that was fading out of the playoffs last year.

Two goals against one of the worst teams in the NHL, all teams need to do is populate the front of their net and allow the Leafs to possess on the periphery all-night then TO will blind pass somewhere and be vulnerable, predictable and easily beaten.

TO won but won't against any quality opposition in important games.

Ah well, there's always next year.

Yea... lots of shots but from what I read in the game thread, sens defense kept the shots to pretty harmless locations. (This was second period when I read it)
We had 6-7 great chances we didn't convert on including 2 uncovered Matthews plays, one with another open net.

It wasn't our best game for creating chances, but we could have scored 4+ goals in regulation and nobody would think twice given the chances

I thought we outplayed them by quite a bit, they got two gifts for goals IMO. Possession time and O-zone time we dominated.

Yes, we did outplay them, you're right... but we we're just very sloppy and gave the puck away. I mean, if it wasn't for those two Campbell mess-up's with the puck, he would have had another shutout, feel bad for the guy!

The sens are definitely a better team than their record dictates. They might have been a top 10 team in the east this year.
I agree, let’s give credit
I was amazed at how they checked relentlessly and the poise they showed in their own end, their smooth exits. . Can’t recall many turnovers.
Can’t complain about our lack of finish, everyhere there was a Senator draped over a Leaf

I am in full agreement with you on that! He is not only scoring, but his goals of late have been AMAZING! goals!
For sure. He has been awesome.

Hoping our big guns start firing again. We need 34, 16, 91 and 88 back! You have to think they are due, their luck is going to turn for the better.

Is it just me, or did Dorion just watch a player who he drafted 18th overall, gave an eight year contract at $8 million per season, get spun around and wind up a -3?

Reads this post, then looks at chart where shot location actually were.

I know they don't give out style points for wins and just win baby and all that, but this win leaves a weird aftertaste.

Leafs basically played the game the Ottawa Senators wanted to play. Negated skill advantage, lots of ugly broken plays, clogging up the slot, and it basically came down to a bounce in OT. Glass half full, the skill prevailed. They found a way. Glass half empty is one of the least skilled, undermanned teams took us to the mat and were one bounce away from being 4-3 in the season series with a 5th string goalie.

The fan side of me is happy we won in dramatic fashion, the armchair coach side of me is just concerned the Leafs can't dictate a high tempo, high skill game against a weaker opponent. If it was this close against Ottawa, what does this look like if we play a playoff team with the same game plan?

The way I see it is eery once in a while even good teams will find themselves in a similar position - especially against a goalie having an amazing hot performance. I don't think there was a single part of tonight's game where the Sens clearly outplayed the Leafs.

What matters is during these games that the team finds a way to edge out a win (which they did) even if it doesn't look pretty.
