I think it's hilarious there are people in this thread who actually have said we didn't deserve to win this game
We dominated this game and didn't even play as well as we're capable of
Campbell with the puck handling mistakes, but I think as he gets more reps, he'll hopefully iron that out
Wouldn't be shocked if he makes a point of working on that in practice
This was his weakness last year too but it’s also playing the games with the guys and knowing their tendencies around the net. That’s what happened with Willy on the first one they got crossed up for some reason. I don’t think it’s a problem though

I didn't see the game at all. Not one second So. Let me be the judge. We won.

Soup won

Ottawa is a really good up and coming team. Big time

And again SOUP won

Probably apoligized for lettintg in so many goals, told the opposing players they were great and.,.,.

Is that basically it?

And yeah, we stole Jason Spezza, the guy has revitilized himself. Huge talent, great mittens etc..

Did I miss anything?

Ya I did hear like a tiddie bit from a neighbour. But Jason Spezza?

Steal of the year>?

Incredible wrister, slapper, first and second step.

A shortened season, covid? Designed for a senior demi hall of famer like this guy.
Great short season brilliant play by Dubas.

Brilliant Play by Dubas.

you missed the part where Matthews kicked the puck and did his Auston thing maneuvering between two Sens and dekeing out the goalie (which got the goalie slightly out of position) then passing the puck to Marner who passed it to Holl for the winner

The way I see it is eery once in a while even good teams will find themselves in a similar position - especially against a goalie having an amazing hot performance. I don't think there was a single part of tonight's game where the Sens clearly outplayed the Leafs.

What matters is during these games that the team finds a way to edge out a win (which they did) even if it doesn't look pretty.

It's frustrating that we need to barely scrape by when Edmonton has a PP party every time they play Ottawa. We need to get healthy and on powerhouse mode.

We w9n the game.... Jack won the game, the team won the game for jack.

Bottom line, the team won the game for jack. If ya know goalies, and goalie teammates in the dressing room

Dis>? A bibby, a really biggy, cause Jack, well, had a moment or two, team still loves him, rallied behind him and stuck it to the Sens.

Bout as good as it gets in regular guys. Team loves Jack. so do I. Chill.

Heading into the room. Never know in there.

The sens are definitely a better team than their record dictates. They might have been a top 10 team in the east this year.

The funny thing is that the sens are much better when Murray and Gudbranson are out of the lineup, which shouldn't be a surprise.

If they figure out they should be sitting Zaitsev too, then they might actually start making some noise.

Some nice young talent on that squad but with some unfortunate contracts to horrible players played in major roles.

Yeeah i was kind of thinking someone should tell Nylander you can hit that guy in to the boards there and take him out of the play. He tried avoiding it so much he hit his own goalie and took him out. That’s really very pathetic. Some wonder why fans can’t stand the guy. That’s why

Nice win but here’s my hot take - I don’t believe Matthews wrist is the problem. I believe they are overplaying him. He looks gassed out there. Does anyone else think that a slight reduction in minutes will help keep him fresh?

His wrist is clearly hurt.

Why wasn't he setup on the half-wall?

He didn't even take 1 shot from the half-wall on the PP, a place where he scores all his PP goals from.
His can't take his classic snapshot without hurting his wrist I think. Otherwise, he would've been on the PP shooting it --- instead of parking infront of the net.

Good win! They collapse and send a guy out when the puck is turned over. If they get saves and blocked shots the Sens can give any team problems. The funny thing for me on Campbells gaffs are that he is known as a good puck handler as a goalie. No biggie, the boys win! On to the next.

It's becoming a recurring occurrence, every team TO plays has a hot goaltender, every team, tonite a goalie who hasn't played in a year.

Those silly heat maps mean nothing, the team that gets 2nd and 3rd chances from slot shots are the teams that win, the one and gun teams constantly face hot goalies.

It’s a “finish” problem. No 2 ways about it.

columbus series last year wasn’t a “hot goalie”. It was the finish problem. And we’re seeing it these past few weeks as well.

I wouldn't describe the Leafs as playing consistent run and gun hockey though. They've been pretty good at holding possession for longer in the opposing zone for more games than not.

1) Korpisalo made a number of amazing saves that had nothing to do with our "finishing" ability. Korpisalo was playing his ass off, just like he did early on against Tampa. Did they also have a "finishing" problem?

https://thehockeywriters.com/blue-jackets-goaltending-maple-leafs-2020-playoffs/

Goaltending absolutely won them that series.

2) How does one fix a finishing problem, especially when you have proven time and time again that you don't have troubles finishing or generating offensive chances of various types? Columbus was one of the best at preventing in-tight chances yet the Leafs still had more than their fair share in that area. Korpisalo (or Merzlikins) just saved most of them. Andersen actually did a fairly good job there too, for the most part.

It is easy to criticize but do you have any kind of solution to these alleged problems?

I think the sens just play us well because of there forwards. They have speed and size and our D likes to play high. They can get in and fast and put a lot of pressure on our defence and goalies.

Kinda win I expected. Campbell, doing some of the unexpected, but still, winning.

To me? double win, hows that Leaf fans.

I am actually quite sophisticated,. But when it comes to the Leafs, at times, bit biased.

Soup wins? Leafs win? Man, I am real good. Didn't see a second of it.

Was too busy with a polish girl.

Polish girls woof.

Sens employing a trap. They were literally standing at centre ice during Leafs breakouts in the third with the score tied. Seems their game plan is to play the entire game like they are on the PK and hope for mistakes (see our goals against tonight). They were hoping for a tie and playing for a win in a shootout.

I’m just glad Matthews got the best of Chabot on the winning play. He was stuck on him like glue all game.
