Gio has been pretty bad this series too. His mobility is looking rough, he's spraying the puck around on the pitch and catches and little passes, getting outmuscled.
Well I can at least see a chance of Holl getting taken out for his play, but I really don't see Gio sitting even if he's not looking so good. Who else can you play in his place besides Gus? Would he even be an improvement over Gio?

Looking at this game objectively, was a good game, close game that could have gone either way. Can't blame Samsonov, nobody's perfect and I thought he played really well overall. We dominated the 3rd, just couldn't score. Hopefully next game Bunting and Liljegren are in and we see a different result.

Liljegren in, Holl out. We aren't going to beat Boston with Holl even if we do get past Tampa.

Bunting in, Lafferty out. Why are we keeping Bunting in the press box so Keefe can play Laffery 5 mins a game? Does this make sense to anyone?

Also shoot the freaking puck. How many times did the d-man pass it off and lose it? One tip or deflection there could have been the difference in the series.

I don't know how we won 3 games by shooting pucks from the blueline and our Game 5 strategy was to pass it into the net, makes no sense to me

every competent team has at least 2 puck moving d-men who can score. we traded sandin so we can baby f***ing holl a pending ufa while playing an old man who is skating on one nut.

On top of that we aren't dressing Lily or Gus.
I feel McCabe can to that, but he is more valuable on the defensive side and it is almost impossible to do both. That was what made Muzzin king daddy topper. Puck mover extraordinaire!

Timmy solves that problem for us normally, but he was rough down the stretch. Regardless, I have for sure seen enough of Holl. No denying his PKing ability, but at what cost?

After a couple of lucky wins, the losers showed up to do what they do best... LOSE !!!

I feel sorry for the fans that pay some of the highest seat prices in the league.

Did the Refs really 'miss' the two Tampa high sticks on our Leafs ??? And how about that ignored interference/trip on Bunting Marner !!! ;)

Tampa was full value for the win. They outplayed our Leafs yet again. This time getting the W !!!

whats the point of his PK ability when they are still scoring PP goals. Heck even if PK was good; 5 on 5 he is so bad tampa is having a field day with holl on ice. they have no pressure they skate around and pressure and have easy life. and tonight they were also awarded 3 goals by holl

Can't complain to much
Vasi hasn't been able to stop a beachball
that has changed, he looked good tonight, and you can count of him playing his best in Game 6 and 7, guy is a proven winner when his back is against the wall, showed it tonight, made some big time saves

I think people are reacting to the loss because of some similarities to Game 7 last year, but they earned/fluked/whatever 3x cracks to win the series. I don't like losing Game 5 but they have to get up for Saturday and win that one.

Dynamics of this series reminds me of Raptors vs GSW. The split at home, the sweep on the road, the former champs battling injuries.

Glass half empty - We have been playing without the lead in the last 3 games - chasing the game is not a winning formula. Vasi has been activated and our guys are second guessing every shot.

Glass half full - We still have the 3-2 series lead going back into a building we have won the last 2 games. We get 2 more cracks at this and if we lose both. Well they didn't learn anything and we blow it up.

one positive is Morgan Rielly is playing some of his best hockey as a leaf, guy has been a stud all series
He always raises his game in the playoffs. I have no idea how the majority of his team mates look at him and say, meh, f*** it. I ain't following suite.

My thought exactly. It was not a bad game and if anything, I didn’t think TB played better than they did in Game 3 and 4.
Leafs just didn’t get the bounces tonight and were collectively very timid and passive.

Vasilyevskiy was good but not God-like. Sammy was below average and that was the difference.

Out 11mil 2nd line centre captain has only scored in blowout games.

Fanf***ingtastic
Right. That has sort of been skimmed over. As much as I love Johnny, and his homecoming and all that... it is clear he is not able to generate like he once could. That is not good.

He did have a couple decent looks tonight and was a +1 and won 66% of his FOs. Overall he is a consistent positive player, but for 11mil we need that person to be a difference maker.

Despite scoring some goals, I have actually been more disappointed in Matthews. He's not engaging physically enough for me, on the offensive side of things. But again, has been a consistent positive player for us (even tonight). I think it is just that I expect more from 34 than I do from 91, but that does not change the money aspect you brough up.

He was good but we have 3 shots to eliminate them

If we don't do it it's going to be because of how we play, not Vasi
