Let's try to put things into perspective though. If someone told you last Saturday morning that we would be up 3-2 in the series you'd take it.
Depends. If we were 3-1 down, yes. If we were 3-1 up, no. Because you absolutely know how this ends.

Meh coaches throwing players under the bus to the media generally never works well

Line up decisions tell the story for game 6

He did the same thing after Game 4 last year when Holl was called out. He kept playing holl out of spite and then Holl f***ed up in Game 6 OT, and then Game 7 Holl was complete trash

Holl has had 5 f***ing games in the series of 7 games and there wasn't one game where he didn't loook like a jackass on ice

Marner not sniping on that breakaway.. that did it for me. That was the moment to spark the comeback.

And the dead head PP to start the third. If they came out charging like they did Game 2 PP then the Bolts would have been on the back foot. The breakaway was another chance. The EN post was another. I think Tampa's slot coverage was a little stronger pushing guys out. Lot of things could have broken differently, but a lot of things had to go right for us to have 3 wins.

I had to refrain from commenting almost at all in the GDT.

The effort these losers put in in elimination games is too sickening to watch anymore.
Yup. If you don't want it more than the other team you tend to lose, and they already used 2 games worth of luck in this series.

We were the 2nd best team in this game after we scored the first goal. Tampa got us to play at their pace.

And I don't give a crap about Vasilevsky or the officiating or Samsonov letting in a softie or Holl (though he should sit next game). The bulk of our cap is tied to guys who are supposed to score goals and not just play well. So score a pile of damn goals in a series-clinching game!

Depends. If we were 3-1 down, yes. If we were 3-1, no. Because you absolutely know how this ends.

A series win is what we want, but 3-2 is where you want to be after Game 5 and not the other way around. They just have to trick themselves into playing the biggest game of their lives... again. And hopefully ROR has the right touch with the group.

We talk a lot about other players diving but this is bad. He doesn’t want to get the reputation as a diver/embellisher. Next game the refs will be keeping a close eye on any contact on him.

I don't think MM was executive at an appropriate playoff pace and his shot selection was off too, though he did hit that post late in the third with the EN. He just needs to make the right play efficiently and not take too much time and just get clobbered and swarmed.
Like I said, this is the first game in a long time that MM was over thinking. It is a sign that he didn’t have confidence. He did played better as the game went on or the shift after he did all the dekes and spin and stuff. Once he kept the game simple and direct again, his line started to tilt the ice.

How many times is the goalie going to get blamed on this forum? Holl f***ed up all the 3 times. Samsonov isn't a vezina goalie. You play the system based on the goalie.

The goalie will be blamed until he doesn't play like shit.

NOBODY on this forum hates Justin Holl more than I do but that 2nd goal CAN'T go in, that's not Holl's fault that was ALL Samsonov.

I'm not asking for Vezina caliber but coming into tonight 3.72 GAA and 876 save% that's not a defense issue there is not a defense on this planet or any other that is that bad.

That's a goaltending issue that means you aren't getting saves.

I'm no fan of the refs or of Keefe but from the games I've seen, Tampa has IMO out hustled us for the most part. That's on the players. Coaches shouldn't have to be there to motivate pros. Especially well paid pros.

How many times have we been up 3-1 and butchered it? You could have said exactly the same thing then to

This isn't good, it's just making the mental block harder to overcome

In my 30 year viewing history, we have blown a 3-1 lead only once has happened only once vs Montreal in a series played in empty pandemic arenas resembling open gym workouts.
