He's still RFA for one more year so there is some cost control there.
I'm not sure he'll sign more than a 1 year (or whatever his RFA status has left) contract with us for back up money.

Too many teams looking for goalies each year.
But we should be able to keep him for next year if we want.

With Helle getting 6million no room for a medium contract on our back up.
A team needing a goalie could get him fairly easy by offering him more than Chevy would. Does Chevy match a 3 year 2.5m a year deal?

Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Did not catch whole game but minutes I did catch I really liked Niku. So smooth and watching him you know he's just about to break out. Really exciting guy.

A bit more seasoning required for the young lad. I realize he had a great season in the A last year but please keep in mind that there have been many a player who dominated at a young age in the A and never could make the jump to the bigs. This “may” be him too, it’s not like he was a 1st rounder, can’t miss prospect. A pleasant surprise up to now, but I’m not totally convinced (for what it’s worth) that he will ever live up to the hype many have created for him.

My 1-2 cents and as always would be pleased to be wrong!

That would be an offer sheet and net us a 2nd round pick. Chevy might go for that if he couldn't squeeze $2.5 M under the cap for a backup. but a lot depends on how the season plays out.

I think Chevy should extend him right now for $ 1.8 to 2 mil for 3 years. He could end up scoring 20- 22 goals this year, and cost then $ 2,5 mil --may be to much ?? Chevy should sign him right now I think. The guy is really good.

I think he is worth more than a 2nd rounder.
The thing is, I don't think he matches 1.75m.
Would he give him up for a third.

But Chevy would have to consider both sides. A "free" 2nd rounder and the cost of matching if it is above what he wants/can pay to stay under the cap. I still think we keep him. The guy has found a good situation and might like having a year or 2 more to build up enough of a track record to get a legit #1 offer.

Why do you keep saying that?
He has 13 points this year.
Of our D men that have played most of the year, only Chiarot has less points.

Myers has been playing great for the last 20 games or so, and I believe he has 4 points in his last 5 games played. He's one of our best offensive defenseman. I know you don't like him, but I think he's a great defenseman.

I think wherever he goes -- he'll get a minimum of $ 5.5 mil per year, and likely more, and if I was Chevy I'd sign him --especially if Trouba will be gone or traded, which is likely what I think will happen. If Trouba signs, then maybe Myers moves on ??

I thought the conversation was about Tanev -- my mistake -- not to much cilantro, but maybe a little to much Sailor Jerrys.

But on Brossoit-- I think Chevy should sign him for about up to $ 2- 2.5 mil for 3 years. Montreal spends $ 10 mil on a Goalie, and we're only paying Helle $ 6mil, so I think we can afford 2 Goalies for $ 8 - $ 8.5 mil per year.

One of these 2 Goalies could be "key" in a trade to aquire a top second line center. I really think Brossoit will be a "big star" in this league.

How is Jett Woo looking this season?

Damn good. He is back to his old physical self after his injuries last year. Moving the puck well. Not jumping into the play as much as I want but I think that has more to do with coaching then anything else. Really stepped up in Brooks absense when he was at the WJC. Really wish we would have drafted him.

I was in the 5th row.. so much harder to judge the game in person. I actually prefer watching on tv. The only thing I came away with is scheifs and especially Connor look great in person.

I hate playing teams on long streaks wins or loses. ducks on a 10 game losing streak next. the odds say they have to win soon.

As Scelaton says, and he looked it up, Myers has 3 points in his last 3 games. I just don't understand why you have this much dislike for a very solid, talented defenseman ?? - but we're all entitled to like or dislike certain players. I do think you should show way less bias, when talking about certain players you don't like.

There is " no question" about it -- Myers is a great talent for the Jets, and makes our right side defense one of the best in the league, and one of the reasons why the Jets are in first place.

I thought he played a helluva game?
I don’t know what makes me happiest: that Kuli has been healthy all year, that he’s been rock solid all year, or that he seems to be getting better every game.

His inside move on that 1st period rush had the whole joint buzzing. Had Jets fans ever seen that from him before?

Also great to see him get a sniff tonight on PP2. He did very well. Until sick bay empties, maybe give him a few reps on PP1...?

A few personnel thoughts:
Appleton seems to be disappearing--it's time to give Petan a chance.
Would not mind putting Wheeler with Little, opening up RW1 to Laine or Roslo. My preference would be Roslo, as he needs his chance to play with skill, and can keep up in every way.
Niku has made a few mistakes, but his skating is sublime and he just needs a bit more confidence to blossom. I'd play him with Trouba for a few games, while our defense is depleted, to allow Morrissey to play with a complimentary D. Niku and Morrow should not be on the ice together. Ever.

Are you seriously?
The best way is to get up close to the action ... you see everything. You don't need to hear negative comments from someone who is not at the game and only sees what they show on TV.
I only get to see the Jets live when they come to Vancouver and I swear after seeing the game and reading the boards ... I feel like I was at a completely different game. It's weird the Canuck fans tell me how good the Jets are and the Jet HF boards tell me the Jets are **** yet they are in first place ... go figure.
