Couple more cards added this week. Finally got a Plante too. Bit rough around the edges but the price was too good

Never understood how PSA 10, which is easier grade to get than BGS9.5, is worth twice as much. How did this happen ?

I like to collect slabbed rookie cards from the 80’s and I’ve seen guys like Ron Francis, Luc Robitaille and Bernie Nicholls BGS 9.5 worth similar or more in some cases versus their PSA 10 counterparts. Maybe things are changing especially considering PSA was called out for grading some sketchy (trimmed) cards.

Like the look of BGS and I think the cards are more secure on their cases. I’ve bought both (PSA & BGS) over the years. If I can get a deal on something, I’ll grab it regardless.

Both companies have been called out for grading trimmed cards and shady shit in the past. This isn't a unique PSA issue.

Personally, what heavily tilts the score for me (outside the $150+ to grade a card with Beckett, lmao) is that PSA guarantees the grade and authenticity. This is important to me, especially since I collect soccer cards/stickers where the fakes keep getting better.

Subtle brag. :sarcasm:

Probably a lot.

A McDavid rookie auto? Hang on to that one.

Try searching COMC, it compiles prices of various cards and ebay sales, etc.

F-me.

Such garbage. They'll hold back 2-3 good rookies, and the rest will be absolute trash. The NHL already had a pretty diluted rookie set with 2 sets, 3 is just way too much. There aren't 150 even passable rookies in the NHL every year.

Also, how are they going to work this timing wise with Series 1 so delayed? There's typically a month delay between hobby and retail. We'll be getting a new set every month? Series 1 hobby, then series 1 retail, then series 2 hobby, etc....by the time people get their shipments, they'll be a new set out.

Oh god! Can't believe UD is already talking about Extended when Series 1 has been delayed for 4 months already.
People are already pissed and there are a massive amount on 20-21 Extended for sale everywhere.
Yet they announce that Extended will be back smh

FML. Bring back Panini.

Panini should never touch hockey cards again. Unless people want to see majority sticker autos, overproduction with higher prices, and Panini Playbook again. Hockey collectors have it good with UD, in my opinion.

Let's also remember that a majority of the top players wouldn't have any signed cards due to their exclusivity with UD.

Wow, this is so tone deaf by upper deck.

Not only is back but with 4 young guns a box instead of 6.
Wow....I missed that about only 4 ygs... What's the point of buying these products without ygs? The other inserts are generally awful.

Panini's best product was National Treasures and the only reason that was good was because they had to dump all their memorabilia before they lost their hockey license so they loaded the packs with hits, otherwise all other Panini products were pretty much trash. They tried so hard to match UD products 1 for 1 rather than doing their own thing. The best thing Panini did IMO was Private Signings.
