Is the upcoming Upper Deck Game Used Hobby Box worth getting? I haven't bought packs of any sport for quite some time. Beyond whatever is valuable in it, I'm hoping to pull an item or two of the Blackhawks rookies, but I haven't seen a checklist for what will be possible to pull in that set.

UD Game Used is one of the poorer value sets to break every year IMO. No crazy collectible marquee rookie in there. The coolest cards IMO are the draft day marks. You're much better just buying those individually.

Thanks. Pretty much what I thought.

It’s an OPC. Pulled it out of a pack in 1995. Guy was selling the packs for $18 back then.

I’ll post pics of some of the other ones I have.
One of the best card sets of all time. I purchased one spot in a pack break with Vintage Breaks 2-3 years ago and hit on the Yzerman rookie. I popped like a teenage girl at a NKOTB concert in '89. Great condition but OC. They said it was not worth grading.

Before the COVID-19 card boom hit I purchased 4 packs from BBCE for about $25 each. A few weeks later they were up to $48 per pack. Out-of-stock since last summer.

So tempted to open.

Wow. I don’t blame.

How OC was your Yzerman RC?

Pretty crazy how they didn't even bother grading it.

I'd like to grade the majority of my cards even if I don't sell them.
Vintage Breaks will comp grading if you get a nice hit they believe is worth grading. They said it would grade out around 7. IIRC they will offer if they honestly believe it has a shot at 9+. Before the price and time frame for getting cards graded increased substantially I mulled sending it into PSA with some other cards. My interest is not in selling and E-Bay is flooded with Yzerman RC's (graded and non-graded) I decided the cost was not viable as it added no value to me and if I wanted to sell it would be selling in a flooded market.

Good points.

I've also heard of a huge back-up at PSA so that's another thing to think about.

Most likely long waiting times when they start allowing cards to be sent in again.

Is there better value, in my case of searching Blackhawks rookies, for buying a box of '07-08 (about the same price as a box of SP) with Kane/Toews rookies up for grabs or is that going into the realm of expired redemption cards?
Honestly you're better off buying them individually if you're chasing individual cards. Toews and Kane Young Guns aren't going for insane amount of money. Toews around $300 and Kane around $400-$500. You'll end up spending more money on boxes.

I did a box break on CloutsnChara a while back, one of the CnC breaks where the "big" prizes are a signed jersey, photo or puck, and every other entrant walks away with at least something.

I wasn't sure what to expect but last week my card came in the mail........a signed Bob Corkum card. :help:

I stared at it not knowing who the hell this guy was because I couldn't even remember him at first - journeyman who retired when I was 19, nearly twenty years ago.

Days later I read how he stepped down from USA Hockey. Guess that's what he'd been up to.

I've got some more cards coming soon, Hughes and Pettersson jersey patch cards. Taking a break from breaks, for now, but I'm sure I'll jump back in soon enough.

While I can't see me using Epack a lot, tried both a box there as well as COMC for the first time. So far pros to me seem to be some of the fees I might normally incur. I don't open many boxes to begin with as you end up with a whole bunch of stuff you don't want.....me I'd rather get what I want. At the same time, those two sites combine well in that I don't have to store/sort etc. and can just unload whatever I don't want (which was literally all but one card). Not as nice as physically opening and seeing.....loses out on the tactile.

Are you talking about singles of epl prizm or boxes?
Because no one cares about common cards.
You can't get any sealed product under msrp.

Buy directly from Panini ?
Even stores that have been around 30 years can't even get Panini products anymore.
They won't even give them one hobby box.

Ebay is the market like it or not.
No, it's not. If you want to believe that go right ahead. The Walmart warriors and two big distributors have instilled this "it's so limited" belief into common collectors when reality is the stuff is just as common as it was before the pandemic.

Nobody remembers when Prizm basketball would sit on shelves in retail until it was marked down to clearance prices. That was Tatum rookie year. Even last year Prizm basketball was sitting around shelves until the pandemic blew everything up.

All I'm saying is, don't buy into the hype. There's a ton of this stuff out there.

As for Panini not giving 30 year dealers product, there has to be more to it then that. There's no way a company isn't giving product to a buyer when production is based on pre-orders. It doesn't add up.

I get three cases of every Panini product shipped to my door a week before it hits hobby shops and I have yet paid these ridiculous prices on Fleabay. Something isn't right if a 30 year dealers can't get a hobby box.....

Kane, Toews, Price were all obvious buys in the fall or earlier. I also bought .... none lmao.

I picked up some Malkin but I always kept getting distracted buying soccer legends
I bought Price when he was $120 a few yrs ago. Hopefully Beckett gives it back to me soon. One year on May 8th haha

I'm at over 1 year for my March batch.

Yikes. Did you guys send through groups? I was submitting to PSA through "PSA Canada" (basically a one guy operation based out of Nova Scotia) and up until December we were getting a 3 month turnaround at I believe $20usd a card.

I feel like if you do your own submissions you just end up at the back of the queue.

I'm so tempted to flood Fleabay with Kane YG's at 400 BIN.

If I do I'll link you on a BO for 200.

I haven't been paying too much attention to YG's as of late
