I know he had a good game overall, and that last goal was in no way his fault, but the tying goal should not have gone in period. That was short side middle. I can't help but think Woll makes that save and we win, but we'll never know.

So much of this series was utter horseshit. From Nylander getting debilitating migraines after playing all 82 regular season games, to Matthews getting severe food poisoning, to Woll carrying us to Game 7 and then waking up with “stiffness” on the day of, and of course to the ridiculously unlucky bounce that led to the OT winner. Officiating was better than in past series, but even there, Boston got the edge in PPs in the deciding game (of course they did).

At the same time, the fact is that they didn’t lose Game 1 because Nylander wasn’t playing and they didn’t lose Game 4 because Matthews wasn’t playing. They did not show up in 2 games in a best-of-7. They put themselves down 3-1 in the series. They were 1/21 on the PP and only marginally better on the PK. They even had the lead midway through the 3rd period in this game and managed to give it up (naturally to the JVR and Brazeau line). They made themselves vulnerable to one bullshit bounce and that bounce ended their season and ultimately should end this core’s time together (it should have ended two years ago).

Because if you didn’t know this team, if you brought a movie script of this series to a producer, that producer would dismiss it out of hand: It is just not beleafable that a team would suffer such a sequence of misfortunes. But we know this team, we know who they are, and we know that they have an unparalleled ability to find ways to lose big games and to lose series. If you’re surprised, you’re not a Leafs fan. Such a shame to have wasted an era that began with such promise.

I've really enjoyed the past bunch of years with this team but it's time for change. Nice knowing you Keefe, Marner and Shanahan. It's time to move on from all. Other guys not needed back even if they were inconsequential to these results are Brodie and samsonov.

Well Leafs I’ve been in it with you guys ever since the 2013 choke. I give up on this franchise, sure I’ll be a fair weather casual fan maybe still but I got other things in life I need to care about more then a bunch of grown men skating on a ice surface that only know how to lose in the most dramatic possible way. It’s just not worth it anymore.

Don't blame you at all.

They're in a deep hole of suck.

You wanna watch themselves get out of it, well it's going to take about 3-4 years until new prospects come in and contribute.

If you're not willing to wait for that, take your time.

Well it ended as per usual. They f***ing own us. Sad part is we f***ing played our ass off. We were 1 shot away and they got a bunch of bullshit powerplays. We should be proud of the effort but it shouldn't have come to this. That's hockey though. Bad bounce and it's over.

I just hope this doesn't turn into "they played a good game x so let's let it ride" kind of thing like it was with babs

It's time to nuke the franchise.

Watching Edmundson, Boosh, McCabe defend and Woll play goal like an elite goalie tells you those cap dollars need to be allocated to those key positions. Those player types are sorely needed but they also need to be higher quality and x-factors that can win. So much money on forwards that don't score. Things need to change.

I agree. He had an assist and played well but NO where near the level of a $13.5M player
I've said this before about Matthews and this series hasn't done much to change my mind...he can be a top 5 player in the league..and the best scorer in the league..and at the same time just be a player that is not one who raise his game to a higher level in the playoffs.

I still don't believe it 100%, but I'm getting closer to the side of AM being a great regular season player but not a good playoff player...and being a great 'individual' player on both sides of the ice but someone who doesn't even come close to making the rest of the team around him better.

The team is NOT better without him, but the rest of the guys (individually) play a better 'team' game when AM isn't playing.

Samsonov recognized what was about to happen and froze instead of making the obvious play
yup. as always. froze like a f*ing deer in headlights like he always has.. both goals were weak

The fans knew it, the team knew it... so please explain why they ever hung on to this guy in the first place

It was over this afternoon when they said he was back in net tonight, the whole city knew it

And he delivered as promised

Elliot Friedman making excuses for the team. LOL. I hope/pray they do NOT leave the team the same.

Anyone else not the least bit upset? I was as calm as a high bertuzzi watching that overtime goal go in. Is it just me that just doesn’t feel as invested anymore and has more of a “prove me wrong “ attitude with this team?

I don't know how much more anyone could possibly need.

The entire philosophy behind the build of this organization has failed. 'Failed' doesn't encapsulate the status. It has crumbled entirely.

What an absolute waste.
It would be one thing if the philosophy was just “flawed”. But these clowns in charge INSISTED that this was the way to success in spite of all evidence that it couldn’t work. Better part of a decade they were repeatedly proven wrong and refused to realize it. They all have to go.
