The Holland stuff I've seen...

The Crowded Room - The Apple show I mentioned, he's the most above average in this, I'd almost dare to say decent at times but it also feels like he's doing his panicked Peter bit, he doesn't separate his portrayal of characters enough from his other work, feels like just different versions of the same stuff he does.
Uncharted - Crap
Cherry - Yawn, he tried to do the tormented bloke bit and it was directed by Russo, so more like Marvel coddling.
Chaos Walking - Or a movie where Holland and Daisy Ridley show you how mid they are at acting and are lucky to be in massive franchises because their work away from it is shit.
The devil all the time - Why? The movie was so stupid. It just didn't leave any lasting impression other than "holy shit i just lost 2hrs I will never get back."
Pilgrammage - It was great because Bernthal had to shut the f*** up for the whole movie, Holland is mediocre, Armitage is fantastic like he always is.
The Lost City of Z - Wasn't even fair to him really, Hunnam, MacFayden, McDiarmid, Melling, and Pattinson are amazing actors so all Holland had to do was be average and it'd be fine and he nailed that.

His voice acting in Onward was good.

Even in the Spiderman movie with the other Parker's, the moment Garfield and Tobey show up, anything Holland did felt lower tier. His anger near the end, Tobey and Garfield still make you care more about him, I don't even think he can do what Daniel Radcliffe has done with his career after a massive franchise.

Radcliffe has done everything to show his range and some movies were ass but he was always damn good in them. Even the bat shit crazy ones like Horns, Guns Akimbo, and Swiss Army Man. He cut his teeth on some very dark shit after Potter as most do to show they're not that lad anymore, that they're a grown up. Lost City, Escape from Pretoria, Jungle, Kill Your Darlings, The Woman In Black, and then his work in The F Word, Holland isn't even 1/4 as good as Radcliffe as an actor.

It's hilarious he is in a Nolan movie, seemed more like Zendaya was like "Hey, see that dwarf over there from the same country as you, can you help him out and cast him too?"

He's 28, by 28 Daniel had already shown you he's a f***ing damn good actor and that the Potter franchise was never his best work, the best is after. I can't say the same about Holland.

I should get into Arcane.

Yeah Zendaya is good in some things for sure but in Dune I just didn't feel the chemistry between the two characters and that is supposed to be insanely important to that story.
like I said, I like those movies less than most. I didn't feel any emotional connections between pretty much anyone in those movies.

I'm very curious to see if Holland can pull something off after he's done with Spiderman. I have genuinely not seen any of those movies but Onward, which yeah he did a good job in. But if I remember he was pretty much his own voice right?

He seems like a good guy and he does a fine job as Spiderman. I think he's about as good as Tobey as Spiderman; I'd say Holland is better at the quippy stuff but worse at the anger and bigger emotional stuff. But Tobey has shown way more outside of Spiderman for sure. And Garfield is quite frankly just a completely different class of actor compared to either of them.

Nothing to add but I want to agree that Radcliffe is just great all around. His Weird Al performance should have won awards.

Holy f***...The Penguin finale.

giphy.gif

OK so that end to The Penguin. Colin definitely should be up for some awards for this show same for Milioti being incredible as well. But wow...Colin was right, by the end of that finale you'll despise Oz and yeah, f***ing brutal.

Yep, Arcane season two is off to a strong start.
Ok I'm gonna give the show a chance and see if I can get into it this time. Way too many keep saying I need to and the rave reviews.

Not on Netflix though, they can go f*** themselves, especially Sarandos and definitely their shitty algorithm, f***ing losers. I'll watch it on iptv like I do all Netflix shows.

Ok so I never played League of legends, I think it's a f***ing stupid game and also I despise cosplayers as a whole and especially how it's become basically a porn gateway for onlyfans. Which now reminds me why I didn't get into this show at first, Jinx and those stupid cosplay losers.

I can ignore that shit for the show thankfully.

I know nothing about League of Legends. Back whenever this series first came out I was hesitant to watch it because of the video game connection, but you literally don't need that game knowledge to enjoy the show.

Yeah tencent and riot games are garbage and I might have let that keep me away from the show.

First couple of episodes were decent enough. I'll probably see it through. Not a fan of the Jinx character.

That’s a bad sign, she’s more or less the pivot point of the show I’d say. Which works great because she’s a phenomenal character.

I mean if the idea is to make you despise the character, they did nail that? But to make her that deranged because her sister dumped her ass is wild.

I got through episode 5 of the 1st season, will finish it later, it is a pretty decent show though, I always hope for more adult animated shows like this and Invincible, etc.

Yeah I wish so many people didn’t just write off animation as childish, used well it allows for so much visual creativity.
Definitely and Invincible showed you can really dig into things with animation without worrying about massive budgets.

Arcane is good. I can do without some of the weird emo music but yeah. It just takes a long time to make animation but then again, it's not different with live action either.

While we're taking about animation, I've enjoyed:

Blue Eye Samurai
Scavengers Reign
Cyberpunk Edge Runners
Close Enough

It's a damn shame I can't find Close Enough anywhere on streaming. Or, ya know, to purchase.

The festival, or the site?
The festival, but really the site's probably not far behind. Conde Nast is running it into the ground.

It's just nuts that I went to nearly every Pitchfork from its inception up on through my immigration to the EU in 2012 and it's gone. Not because the city wanted it gone or anything, but because Conde Nast couldn't figure out how to squeeze more money from it.

Ah well, all things must pass.

yeah she’s a great villain, not a good person.
Honestly, the mark of a good villain, imo. People want their villains to be too sympathetic.

@HandshakeLine - I have a line in on a 78 Greco EG500 "lawsuit" Les Paul. I already own friggin' two "real" LPs and even two other dual humbucker style guitars that essentially do the same thing as an LP. But I've always wanted a lawsuit LP and this one arguably plays better than any guitar I currently own. It's even pretty... nice classic 3ish tone burst with a subtle but nicely figured top (I think sycamore). Talk me out of this nonsense lol

I'd like this post but I can't because I said bad words about highly paid executives on a family board full of bitcoin shills and degenerate gamblers.

The Greco Les Pauls and lawsuit guitars can be killer but a few things first before I give it my blessing... Is it a set-neck or one of the bolt-ons? The set neck ones are great, but check to see if it needs a reset at all, sometimes the joints were a bit iffy. The bolt-ons, I would generally steer clear simply because if I want a Lester, I want the sustain and the bolt-ons don't really do that. Check to see if the wiring and pickups are original. I think the OG lawsuit pickups sound pretty damn good, but sometimes people replaced them with really dubious ones in the 90s or 2000s because that was "cool".

Basically, I'd hit it. And I don't even like Les Pauls.

Haha yeah... you know I'm an LP junkie. This would look really nice in my collection though it's just SUCH a player it won't get to hang on a wall for long.

It's the second year of the set necks I believe and it's rock solid. Everything is original as far as I can tell aside from the strap buttons and thankfully that includes the absolutely incredible sounding Maxon pickups and all wiring/pots/hardware. It was made in the Fuji-gen Gakki factory which is desirable, too as they have an extremely solid rep from that era for putting together great instruments.

Also it was played for years from one of the touring members of Explosions In The Sky which is pretty cool.

Dude why are you even waiting for my dumb ass to tell you to hit it. HIT IT. Fujigen makes amazing guitars, I'm strongly thinking of picking up another Gretsch made in Fujigen if I flip this 1968 Guild my brother picked up from Mentor.

But damnit it's just too good!
