I liked Barbie quite a bit, I thought it was very funny. It is sort of ironic that Ken was the best part though  . I also liked Lady Bird and Frances Ha. Narnia is a weird change up for her.

Also, Barbie for sure is a commentary on the patriarchy and feminism; just not a particularly deep one. I think it works as basically a skin deep fun comedy level of commentary though.
Exactly it's surface level at best and it works fine like that. I also felt Ken was the funniest part and his awakening funny enough worked better as a commentary on feminism and the patriarchy than Barbie's arc. But she feels it resonated on a much deeper level lol.

I thoufjt Lady Bird was ok and same for Francis Ha. I also felt her take on Little Women wasn't better than ones that came before hers even if she was mad she didn't win an award for it which kind of pissed me off at the entitlement. She literally made another adaptation of a movie that never f***ing needed one and felt she should have won an award for it.

Nothing like taking a walk in -7 outside from an arctic wind here for a couple days. Brrrr!
Turbo barely wants to pee outside. I still had her pee pads when we got her that I have laid out in the garage. Its like some weird Day After Tomorrow shit outside.

-11 with 25-45km/hr gusts. Feels closer to -20 with the Arctic gusts.

Naturally it's supposed to rain next week. So it's just a week of this.

Current temperature in Calgary is a nice balmy -34C or -44C with the wind chill. Tonights low is expected to be -39C or -49C with the wind chill. For you Yanks thats -38F to -56F

We had fire trucks freeze to the road during a large house fire last night. Ugh....

It's also "freezing" out here for Seattle standards, it got down to like 15 F last night and it almost never gets that cold. There were projections of a major snowstorm hitting this weekend, but those didn't end up coming true.

I'm really damn glad about that, I'm flying out to Australia tomorrow morning

How is it even possible to have a warm house in that weather?
Emergency alert went out about 30min ago for power usage. Grid is past its capacity and brownouts might happen.

-41C is the expected low tonight. At that temperature an engine block heater cant keep up, your cars heating cant warm up your car, transmission fluid degrades, suspension can crack, Its great! Not.

With some of the shit construction in Vancouver, I know it's shocking. The first house we bought near UBC, amazing home but being a builder myself, shitty insulation, windows bled air same for doors etc. They get away with it too with high priced homes because the weather is so mild here. Super mild. It's why the lot here are freaking the f*** out. It's like -4 at worst since we've been here. My fellow Brits and East Coast Murricans have been through worse.

Then we got our home built and I was at the site each time to make sure they were doing what I paid them to do. Proper insulation, no air seeping in during winters, sound deadening where it's needed, so weather like this is meh. Now if it go to like -50 outside then maybe I'd worry. But my driveway is also heated so we're good for the ice from the gusts.

It hasn’t been that bad today. -7 with -12 wind chill. That’s fine. I was out in the backyard smoking a monte cristo with the heat lamp on while turbo was bundled up. Honestly a fantastic evening for the sunset.

Isn't Saskatchewan and Manitoba one of those places where wankers toss out cups of hot water and it freezes instantly? From all discussions about those places with blokes, also dreeadul to live there in general.

Alberta is rising in costs as well, with so many bc folks moving there and immigrants as bc is too expensive for most now.

Seattle rarely gets that cold so yeah it's unusual. When I was living there permanently, at worst it was like 10-15F for a few days then back to mild.

Yeah people have been doing the hot water thing here all week

Housing has gone up about 40% since I sold my house in 2018. It’s BS….

I have* a mate that now does Realty out in Edmonton and his brother out in Calgary, they're always trying to show me any good commercial properties for investments and we'll just talk housing and the rise has been very steep and then the issues of renting in Calgary is pretty ridiculous - aka it's becoming like BC rather quickly.

So what is your guys opinion on that Miami stuff that happened Jan 1st? some huge cover up. Maybe got word of a shooter like in Vegas? or a terrorist threat. Don't know why they would cover that up though. No I don't believe it was because of a few teenagers causing problems, you don't bring the whole police force because of that.

Unruly teens.

"Police were responding to a riot caused by a group of about 50 teenagers, who were shooting fireworks at people and looting stores."

"Miami police officers responded to reports of a shooting Jan. 1 at Bayside Marketplace, the department told local and national news outlets. What sounded like gunshots was actually a group of at least 50 teenagers shooting fireworks at people and looting stores."

We once had 5, maybe 6, cop cars show up on us when we were teens because a few of us decided to walk through a cemetery. At least we weren't shooting off fireworks aimed at people.

MLK's Birthday Today and I am unfortunately reminded of that f***ing moron Jonathan Majors thinking Coretta King is a prop on MLK's arm the way he thinks his woman should be.

HBD to MLK and f*** you Majors, I hope you rot in prison and wallow in how you shit on your own career.

To be fair, the amount of incidents that end tragically because of the incompetence of law enforcement has always been ridiculously high and the lack of accountability because "its a hard job" is horse shit given the systemic racism and general cowardice by that group.

I'll leave it at that.
