My complaints are digital tickets, the lack of tickets or cards for everybody, no lights yet in the upper bowl, and the re-entry ban (even though I've never done it).
There's that "5% every year" again... "I don't think it means what you think it means"
Correct me if I'm wrong but, from what I understand, this 5% increase appears to be a one time adjustment they made in 2016. Anyone still in a TPA still got a max 3% increase until they renewed for another term. After which they faced the one time 5% increase, then they were locked down to a max of 3% again for the duration of their next term. From what I understand, many people have already been paying this 5% increase if they renewed a TPA after the end of the 2015-16 season. It's actually "old" news. It just new for those last few who were protected from it (via a 3% TPA maximum) until now.
I personally benefited from this "cost avoidance" as one of the STH who signed a 5 year term before the end of the 2015-16 season. A couple of months later I would have had to pay 5% more for the same seats.
I can totally see TN doing this on purpose as a way to increase prices outside of the existing TPAs. This way the prices are higher for any new TPAs and the price goes up earlier for lower term TPA renewals. Now, how sustainable are the increases? We'll have to wait and see.
Like Spock said, they'll have to level off at some point, at least down to the actual rate of inflation.
Isn't that sick? Just so wheeler and Laine can make 8.5 million instead of 8.You're wrong. They changed the maximum increase per year from 3% to 5% for contracts signed 2017 onwards. There have since been two maximum 5% increases. Those contracts that were still under the 3% maximum for a season or two, upon expiration were hit with a 7%+ increase to bring them in line with the other contracts, and they are now also subject to the maximum 5% per year.
If you're still under a 3% max contract, be prepared to get a massive hit when your contract is up.

That clarifies things, however unfortunate. I will prepare for the worst.
If only there were those who love exhibition games, or Tuesday night games in February against Ottawa.Gotta love that guy that snaps up all the Sunday afternoon games at the ticket draft so he can take his kids...
This could be seen as a benefit for folks who sign up to the waiting list. They could take over contracts half way through, without having to put any money down. Or, they could continue paying for the remaining seasons AND toss in the deposit before the next contract is due. TNSE would make more money on the deposits that they keep.Like others have said, TN also has the duty to mitigate their losses. It's up to them to find someone else to take the seats that were given up. If they find someone to take the seats in question, they can't sue for losses as they have incurred none. But they would get to keep your deposit regardless.

So, if you're going to default, do it now as the wait list is shrinking and people lining up to take your seats are getting less. ***Not legal advice***
I wonder if they could argue your specific seat numbers were not taken, if they would win their case to sue you?
Apple, meet orange.Yes, it’s a contract. They have the right to sue and should sue for the amount owing. Imagine if the team started struggling and claimed ‘changes in personal financial situation’ and defaulted knowing they would just lose their deposit.
It’s a legal contract that you signed, you owe the duration of your term
I believe just the lock out year.even when the limit was 3%... has True North ever not increased the price of season's ticket to the maximum?
The way TNSE went about doing this was downright not at all upfront. At no point did any email or communication from TNSE indicate that prices would increase more than 5% when signing a TPA this past season. It was season ticket holders that did the math that figured it out. Not a way to retain a loyal STH base in my opinion. That should have been the reward for being around since day 1 . TNSE has very much taken their STH base for granted. You're wrong. They changed the maximum increase per year from 3% to 5% for contracts signed 2017 onwards. My take is TNSE doesn't mind squeezing the ST base and push out those that are not well suited for the long haul and have them replaced by those on the wait list who can cover the season ticket costs over time and also up the amount of seats in corporate hands. If Winnipeg can't handle supporting a professional sports franchise then yes Chipman has a very lucrative asset he can bring to market. It is only his ties to Winnipeg that got us back a franchise in the first place. If you were going to relocate a NHL team 99.9% of owners wouldn't choose a wholesale loving city of 800,000 on the Canadian prairies. This sounds crazy. 5% and then a 2% top up for season ticket holders who were on the more friendly plan. Really?
Edmonton just put a zero percent increase with 15% food and beverage credit.
Chipman ain't no spring chicken. I wonder what his plan really was in the first place. Sell?
As long as we are happy spending $300 on lower deck and $150 nosebleeds, we should be fine. Correct me If I am wrong.

Well the Oilers have been awful for a decade. Not just awful, but an embarrassment. I don't think the Jets would be ramping up prices at 5% per season if the team was terrible year after year. This sounds crazy. 5% and then a 2% top up for season ticket holders who were on the more friendly plan. My Aunt and Uncle didn't renew their P5's this year. Other than the renewal email, they didn't get a single call or email asking them if there was anything that could be done to keep them as ST holders. They felt like they were tossed aside like trash. And they were on the fence when it came to renewing...my Aunt wanted to cancel and my Uncle was leaning toward renewing.
With even a little bit of effort (maybe a slight relocation or a free hat or...something...) they probably would've been able to get them to renew for another term. But alas, there was zero point zero effort made in attempting to hold on to them. To me, that's going to be a significant problem for TN if they don't get that figured out.
The two seasons following the lockout shortened year, the increases were limited to 2%.

Since this seems to have become a general True North kvetching thread I'll add my newest smh tidbit. I'm indirectly connected with Hoosli and do some business with one of Hoosli's members. I had him on the phone a few weeks ago and mentioned how much Winnipeggers like Hoosli doing the anthems at Jets games. I asked him where they get to sit for the game after they're done performing.
Answer: outside. They choir gets escorted from the building. No comped tickets, no payment or remuneration of any kind, and they're required to return the jerseys that they wear while singing. I gotta say, that rubbed me the wrong way. When Hoosli does the anthem for the Bombers they get comped tickets for that game. Goldeyes? Katz lets them use one of the suites! Jets? Nothing. Nada. Not even a donation to a charity of their choice.
I had Hoosli sing the Liturgy for our wedding (for which I heard endless kudos) and I (quite happily) paid $300 for the privilege. I can't believe that a multi-million dollar organization offers them nothing. Payment in 'exposure' like some kind of choosy beggar wanting artwork for their MySpace page.
True story: at our wedding reception one of our guests who had been at the Church for the ceremony said that they were so impressed with Hoosli's performance that they cracked open the presentation envelope so they could add more money. Yup, Hoosli is just that good!
