Over/Under on Frank making Caps roster next season?
I think he deserves a shot. Especially given that he's an older rookie.Over/Under on Frank making Caps roster next season?
Haven't watched Hershey at all but I will watch the playoffs.Over/Under on Frank making Caps roster next season?
WTF? So needlessly complicated.Bears will really have home ice in name only if they play Charlotte or Springfield. Due to the distance, they'd start on the road (2-3 away-home format). So they'd get more games at home but only it they made it that far in the series. On the other hand, Lehigh or Hartford would see them start at home with a more traditional 2-2-1 format. It's been this way since they switched to a 5 game first (and now second) round but it's still a major gripe of mine. I'd love to see them just make all the non qualifying rounds best of 7 again (especially since they already slashed the regular season) but I digress.
The Calder Cup playoffs in general have grown so needlessly complicated. I don't think the qualifying round should exist anyway, but it makes teams that wouldn't have made it an extra game or two of revenue so it's not going anywhere. That round is best of 3. Then the next two rounds are best of 5. Then the conference finals and Calder Cup Final are best of 7. I think this format, or something similar, was used briefly in the past (early 2000s), but when I first started following the AHL, it was simply the top 4 teams in each division made it (with crossover if the 5 seed in one division finished higher than the 4 seed in the other division in the same conference), all best of 7, with a 2-3-2 format if there was significant distance between the two teams. Given that the regular season is 8 games shorter now than it was back then, it'd be nice to see that format make a return for the non qualifying rounds if they're going to keep that. Barring arena scheduling conflicts (which the Bears have faced their share of over the years), there is no reason for the higher seed to not start at home in a playoff series.WTF? So needlessly complicated.
If the Bears were to somehow knock off both Charlotte and Providence in the first two rounds I think I would have full confidence in them to go all the way. Those have probably been their two toughest divisional opponents this year. Granted there are some very tough teams out west.I agree that Charlotte is the worst (and most probable) match up for Hershey. I can't see Lehigh Valley taking two of three from Charlotte, in Charlotte.
It'll be interesting to see how the goaltenders play. Based off the past couple of games, goaltending (either of them) is probably the biggest weakness.
I think the T-birds have the best chance to knock off Providence, so I'll be rooting for them, as well in the first round.
