Here's the cliff, everyone jump. EDM wins 4-2

Patrick Kane was injured a while ago before the Blackhawks were safely in a playoff spot.

That's not the point.

The point is an NHL player can get injured by just stepping onto the ice. Players don't back off, or not play hard to avoid injures.

Thank you - I lost my first wife when she was 31 years old.

Sometimes we forget that hockey is just a game - a fun distraction while dealing with day to day challenges - but it is just a game.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. And you're right that it is just a game. Sometimes we get too caught up in it to realize what really matters in life.

Players don't care about draft position, but teams safely in playoff spots don't like to risk injury by playing too hard in final games. Teams not in playoff spots will play harder because those final games are their playoffs for the year. If Winnipeg loses to Colorado then they will try really hard to beat Calgary.

Players are more likely to get injured if they play half assed.

Oh man, can you imagine the meltdown everywhere, not just HFBoards, if the kings do the horror flick zombie grab of your foot when you're walking away by squeaking in at this point

I'd prefer seeing the meltdown if we won the draft lottery and got Mcdavid, that would be hilarious

Meh it wouldn't be that bad.

The real melt down would be if the Kings sneak in, win another cup. Or the Kings miss the playoffs, then win the lottery.

O boy the main board would melt down. Could you imagine the Sharks/Ducks fan's if the Kings landed McDavid, or a Kings third Cup.

Wouldn't that designate the Kings as some sort of "lesser evil"?

Honestly, I have a feeling since January that Kings will somehow miss PO and then win a lottery...

And then next year it will be third SC for King in five years...

Getting a decent draft pick and coming back with vengeance next year doesn't sound too bad

Ya, I thought about how if it comes down to the last game ,we win and WPG loses or ties and we get in by ROW's.
As bad as our situation is, they're still a chance to get in but it has to start on Thursday and we'll need a lot of help.
Like Apollo Creed said: "There is no tomorrow! "

I just had a feeling it wasn't our year, with the whole Voynov situation setting the tone for things to come. What a **** year its been.

Here's to hoping that our championship window hasn't closed yet, and that the boys can bounce back with some rest and roster certainty next year. Lombardi once again has his work cut out for him...

Some poor team is going to offer Williams a 7x7 deal this offseason.

I can see the Maple Leafs, affording themselves to offer such contract to Justin, if so inclined. Otherwise, I genuinely am thankful for his overall contributions even though I feel the entire team is still sitting on the laurels of 2014.

Pretty funny that literally 3 days ago people were talking (ONCE AGAIN) about jumping over Vancouver in the standings... "Poop thy pants, Vancouver". Now people are hoping for the improbable.

I have a feeling you're gonna still be mentioning that title next season.

Man what if the Kings are still in it when they play the sharks, and all they need to do is beat the sharks, and they lose?

Sharks fans will go ape ****, Kings will tap their ring twice on a table like Frank Underwood signifying their two Cups in three years, and then the sun will rise the next day.

What a year for Muzzin, 40 points and 10 goals. Still a Corsi beast.

That minus Five is ugly, but he can clean that up going forward.

And people still don't believe this guy is the second best defenseman on the team. How someone can argue that the Kings second best defenseman is a guy that ISN'T EVEN PLAYING boggles my mind.

I've been saying the Kings would make the playoffs for months, but I just don't see it. It's not happening and it hurts even more than I thought.

I'm really waiting for this...

Any changes for next year start with Sutter "retiring". If Sutter is back next year the offense will be ranked around 20th of 30 and the Kings will be aiming for a wild card spot.... pretty much this season.... The problem with aiming for the wild card spot, as we are learning, is if you hit a speed bump... terrible shootouts, losses to the Oil/Flames then you're on the outside looking in. Also starting the year with a cap penalty from the Richards situation isn't going to help get things started on the right foot.

Richards. Once the decision was made to not buy him out he should have been placed in a situation to succeed. Not buying out a guy signed until the 18/19 season then playing him on the 4th line with Clifford/Nolan was about the dumbest move ever. Probably worse then Lewis in the shootout....

The bigger problem, without Richards in the line up is that the bot 6 is atrocious as far as goal scoring is concerned. Brown/Stoll/Lewis, Clifford/Shore/Nolan isn't going to get it done for the playoffs as far as secondary scoring goes.... the only option was to put Richards with decent line mates and hope he could find a spark. It may or may not have happened, but this team with this bottom 6 is going nowhere, even if they still make the playoffs. It really isn't that hard to see.

Looking forward it will be nice to see a $2M memorial cap penalty for Richards.... his ghost will be here a long time... even if he isn't.

Disagree. Clifford/Shore/Nolan has been fantastic. The big $$$ makers need to be your best players. It's unfair to expect that fourth line to carry an offensive load when Kopitar and Carter go MIA for massive stretches. Stoll is the problem on the third. He's done.

What it is with you and Sutter, Kurrilino fails to understand the same thing about Lombardi.

Let me introduce you to the next head coach of the LA Kings. John Stevens....

He is a carbon copy of Murray/Sutter/Lombardi Hockey. You do realize that right ?

Same garbage a lot of people around here were spouting about the PP with Kompon. Uhh the Hawks PP is fine under Kompon, and the Kings PP, looks the same under Payne.
