Went to the game at Staples last night. My thoughts:after Quick's complete lack of effort on the first goal I would have yanked him. He looks like he's ready to call it a career and go home-no compete. Carter-the only time I noticed Carter on the ice was when I was thinking "hey, this is a split squad game, shouldn't Carter be dominating these kids?" Carter looks ready to call it a career and go home. Kovalchuk was sitting at the end of the bench which he did often last season. That's something I do in rec leagues when I don't like my teammates, which is often. I saw no hints of an up tempo attacking system, the Kings were completely outplayed in every aspect of the game. Now for the good news-tickets were dirt cheap and will be all season long, nobody is going to pay money to see this team play. And the Kings will earn a top pick in the lottery. I was expecting more last night, instead I got a less talented version of last season.
