Here and Now: The Preseason

Went to the game at Staples last night. My thoughts:after Quick's complete lack of effort on the first goal I would have yanked him. He looks like he's ready to call it a career and go home-no compete. Carter-the only time I noticed Carter on the ice was when I was thinking "hey, this is a split squad game, shouldn't Carter be dominating these kids?" Carter looks ready to call it a career and go home. Kovalchuk was sitting at the end of the bench which he did often last season. That's something I do in rec leagues when I don't like my teammates, which is often. I saw no hints of an up tempo attacking system, the Kings were completely outplayed in every aspect of the game. Now for the good news-tickets were dirt cheap and will be all season long, nobody is going to pay money to see this team play. And the Kings will earn a top pick in the lottery. I was expecting more last night, instead I got a less talented version of last season.

This is very interesting. Now tell me about your mother. :)

Well, the NHL.tv app is showing me that, unlike what's stated on page 1 of this thread, tonight's game by the Kings vs. the Golden Knights is going to be televised, via the Vegas feed (KTNV). Great news! :thumbu:

But but Vegas isn't even as big of a market as LA. Why are they televising their HOCKEY games. LA for ya.

well they didn't give up a goal within the first 20 seconds so its already a better start than last game.

Fantastic game so far by the Kings, loving the pace and also liking the grit out of the young guys. D is also making quick decisive passes and not getting hemmed in which is nice.

During his draft year one of the knocks on Akil Thomas was that he shied away from contact, but so far this game he has been flying into the dangerous areas and has taken a couple big hits to make a play.
