That's why I said they both sucked. Dansk was bailing out his team left and right. Don't remember any notable save from Quick besides those chances

He was literally perfect until the own goal, including stopping two breakways and several side to side chances on the PK. Several "notable" saves, really.

Dansk had a great game though, of course.

It felt weird seeing tmac behind our bench.

I'm also thinking that's why Ryan fired it into our net.

This Quick hysteria is getting a bit much.

Not sure I agree with your assessment there, cubby.

Quick was ready to bash his stick across the pipes after Marchessault roofed it past him in OT. He then thought better of the situation, knowing full well that he'll have a ton of time during the regular season to unload on the net.

Lots of good and lots of bad. Kids played well for the most part.

Most impressed by Lizotte and Anderson. Bjornfot was good aside from being turned around.

Clague is a mess. Toffoli finally woke up in the third.

Ryan is not doing himself any favors.

Concur with all of that.

I'm eager to see how some of these guys do with a more intense game. That was almost non-checking for the most part, which is why some guys were so surprised when they got blown up haha.

Please for the love of all that is holy get Doughty a partner of any kind, just don't want to see the guy waste his career next to scrubs.

Hey, I had a lot of fun watching that game. Vegas was damn near their regular season lineup and were thoroughly outplayed by a bunch of rookies. Like what Tmac was doing with the lines too.
Plenty of positives to build on with a more up tempo offensive attack and how they scored on that 2nd PP because of quick passing and movement. Kings actually played well enough to have had a 5-0 lead in this game, but no scoring finish still very apparent with this team. I'm also gonna call out Kopitar. He's being paid $10 million a season and he now has a coach in TM who can help him give more offensive production, yet Kopitar didn't show much tonight. I know it's preseason, but Kopitar didn't have a good offensive game tonight. Honestly, Iaffalo/Kopitar/Brown looked like they have never played with each other before. Last season they were the Kings most consistent scoring line, which isn't saying much considering a lot of games where that line was shut down during games.

Kopitar needs to wake up! Same goes for Quick too! If he can't play well enough in net, then he's gonna end up splitting the starts with Campbell.

Jack Campbell played 31 games, 2.29 GAA, .928 SV%, on the 2nd worst team in the NHL. Quick on other hand played 46 games, 3.38 GAA, .888 SV%. Both played for the same bad team. Quick had been a established goalie for years. Campbell had been somewhat of a journeyman backup and his NHL career almost written off, till he revived his career with the Kings. Quick needs to refocus his game and forget about how the team is playing in front of him. If he doesn't, then he will end up backing Campbell a lot more this season.

LA Home Grown Defensemen - Doughty came in 2008....Martinez 2011...Voynov 2012....Muzzin 2013. Then NO ONE. Gravel 2015. MEH. MacDermid 2016 MEH. Forbort in 2016. MEH. The Kings have really needed some quality home grown D for over 5 years now! Looks like Clague needs more time in the AHL. Don't give up on him yet. However, Anderson and Bjornfot are going to be the answer finally; top 4 NHL defensemen...in another year for certain. By that time, it will have been 6+ years since Muzzin...the last truly legit top 4 NHL defensemen the Kings developed. Of course, there are players out there like Cernak, Miller and McNabb. Anderson and Bjornfot are going to be good. Consider how good and poised they look in their FIRST NHL games and first on smaller ice for both. No deer in the headlights and playing well. Sure, it's just preseason, but these 2 have not had a single pro game yet - AHL, etc and looking better than the Clagues, Gravels. Forborts instantly. One year from now, those 2 will be locks. Durzi has a shot at being one as well, in a year or two

I mean, my chief complaint with Clague is that for an 'offensive dman' he doesn't provide nearly enough offensive for his bad-version-of-ERik-Karlsson-esque lack of defensive awareness. The dude is overwhelmed physically, not great positionally, and has average at best defensive IQ. Maybe his skating could cover those issues at the junior level, but it hasn't worked yet at the pro level.

I'll grant at the AHL level he at least provided enough offense to ignore some of the defensive holes but i'm not even sure his shot is good enough for the PP, so the idea of him being a depth offensive specialist or something like Colin Miller isn't there either.

I'm not giving up on him yet, but he needs a full year down in the AHL with big minutes staying healthy.

Quick best not play more than 42 games this season.[/QUOTE said:
Unless, the Kings are 25th in the standings with 2 weeks to go in the season and the tank needs a commander to....well....tank! Then go with Quick the rest of the way and get to 28th or so. Just don't
send 'lucky Luc' to the lottery draw!

Nearly forgot, really like Fagemo too, good energy, but good skill for a depth guy, still seeing Arvidsson in him, where he just motors and motors and motors very vanilla, then suddenly pulls a high skill play out of nowhere

This is the Lombardi effect on giving long term bloated contracts to Brown, Carter, Kopitar, Quick, Kovalchuk(short term bloated), and Doughty(that's on Robitaille). Plus still having Richards/Phaneuf cap hits as well. There has been no cap room for them to bring in serviceable FA d-man who could play top minutes or even FA forwards for 2ndary scoring.

Telling you Kings won't go far with Quick getting out performed by a goalie like Dansk. And a defense that has a dude like Ryan on it. Rookies got walked on D too often. Preseason. Kings need to replace Quick though.

Dude , it's the preseason, with 4 rookie defensemen in front of him. It was 2-0 until dumb dumb knocks the puck into his own net. The next two were scored by 2 elite guys who scores 30 plus a year, who burned two rookies. But yeah, it's on Quick. Cut the guy some slack.

quick didn't look too impressed on that gwg

didn't watch the game but man the replays on those goals were pretty dog shit defending

Really hard to take any of the Quick criticism seriously. The guy pitched a shutout for 54 minutes before the own goal. Then Clague shows why he's no where near ready for the show on the other two goals giving up grade-a chances to Stone and Marchessault.

Goalies have a job too, to prevent the opponent from scoring. As bad and inexperienced as the young D was tonight, a 2-time Cup winning vet goalie like Quick should not be allowing the 2nd/3rd goals to happen that make him look like a rookie goalie! He got embarrassed on both of those goals.

They were uncontested breakaways to 30 goal scorers after 2 previous breakaway saves on 20 goal scorers.

Guarantee if that was a Campbell or Petersen nameplate on the jersey instead of Quick this place would be patting them on the back instead.

There's realistic, reasonable criticism, then there's just outright loathing.

Really like this TM quote:

"McLellan, on the Eyssimont-Thomas-Fagemo line:
That line was excellent. They gave themselves permission to play at this level and play confident."

Really nice letting them all play together too, no veterans to defer to, they just have to take ownership for themselves which they did

With the speed Stone was cutting to the middle, Quick played it as he should.
