I don't think the trouba post game is getting enough credit here. At least the unedited one. His demeanor, his anger, the words he used, the words he didn't use, the comments about teammates, the long pause, the acknowledgement that he was trying to avoid saying certain things, his comments that ended up later going against what his coach said, all of it shows the powderkeg that is brewing here.
Yeah, his whole possie left. Vatrano, Motte and Copp.
He’s all alone.

There's also something seriously wrong with this team in the 'puck skills' department.

I dont believe it's by chance. They are degenerating. Whatever they're doing is not working. I can't believe they practice because they're that bad..

Mika can no longer handle a simple pass or puck. Laffy loses it way too easily. No one can shoot quickly. No one can shoot accurately. the list goes on and on...

Just compare that clip to this one from the Canucks

Absurd. The first clip is like from a B-level juniors summer camp.

Starting to believe this as well. In a Finnish NHL preview podcast, Ismo Lehkonen, the father of Artturi who plays for the Avs, basically said that they have this culture in the locker room that the coach doesn't have to interfere with the atmosphere. The coach only does the coaching, the players themselves take care of the atmosphere. Guys like MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Cogliano, Johnson etc, keep players accountable. Bednar only applies the strategy, he doesn't need to shout at people. The top players take care of that.

I have a feeling, we don't have enough leaders. Trouba might be one, but his on ice performance sucks and that has to have an effect on how he's perceived. Kreider, Zib, Fox, Panarin... Are any of those guys leaders? I don't think so.

Coach needs to coach, not be a babysitter. The locker room should take care of itself when it comes to accountability. Not happening right now. The sad part is, Gallant was thought to be a coach who could keep the players in line. Clearly that's not happening.

That's a brutal schedule. Avs might be the easiest, because they are so banged up.

But you can basically schedule 0/10 of those teams, unless something drastic happens.
It's so much worse beyond that

There are about 2-3 of those games that I'd say are "maybe"

I mean, if we really wanted to we could probably fill a roster full of less-skilled brothers the Rangers have had over the years.

Hossa
Fedor Fedorov
Sean Pronger
Marc Staal
Boris Mironov
Tom Pyatt
Ryan Bourque
Strome
Paul Broten
Kevin Miller
Brian Mullen

No criticism of any of these obviously (well, OK, maybe some)...just looking for something fun to do on here in the wake of this shitshow. Can also add Tony Granato (get it? Cuz Cammi?) to the list for shits and giggles...
We really need that sarcasm emoji.

Good. This is Gods way of telling everyone that mas0764 was right and it’s time to get a center or two for realsies.

Trade some vets while you are at it.

All this shit started from ownership wanting to win now instead of trusting the rebuild. Resulted into one decent SC run and now theyre paying the price. Gorton >>> Drury all day.

Yes. All this.

Amazing how the fan base in general and this board in particular fell into lock step with the idiot owner and new idiot GM though.

Um. Gorton was the one who wanted to win now and screwed up the rebuild. Why sign Panarin and Trouba in year two of a rebuild? Why give Kreider a new deal? Honestly a lot of this is on Gorton.

12 minutes for Laf again.

Gallant is draining the life from these kids. There's no way anyone could develop like this. I'm telling you from experience. You can't get in a rhythm. Can't get involved or into it. Why or how could he have any interest. Show up to the rink just to sit there and be a cheerleader from the bench. "Show intensity on the bench". F off coach.

Drury is the most milquetoast, monotone, drab, boring, disinterested, no-sense of urgency, lack of intensity, zero personality... GM. All this guy has ever done is steal money from the organization. As a player he was trash and as a GM he's trash. This team has taken on his personality. Gallant. The players. Few have any personality or intensity. And the ones that do are ignored or benched. One demanded a trade (Reaves).

I've had it with watching stoned Zibanejad and Kreider taking periods off. Panarin couldn't care less as long as he gets to dipsy doodle on the power play he's content.

People here say it and it's true, this organization is rotten to the core and needs major changes... AGAIN.

Even if Shesty has regressed from what he was last year (which was generational), he's still putting up decent numbers. Even Halak is not killing us, if you look at his play. A team like Edmonton would kill to get our tandem.

Our problem is, that we suck at 5v5 hockey. And now that our PP has also regressed, we are not getting results.
We have all been seeing this since last year. It wasn't sustainable. The trade deadline saved us for a bit longer.

This is where you need a coach to spit a little fire, or HOLD PLAYERS ACCOUNTABLE!

Of the millionaire club, I think Kreider was the only one demoted...for a game or two.

Have Panarin in the press box for a week, and take Mika off of both PPs. Put his ass on the 3rd.

If that still doesn't light a spark, then we truly are proper f***ed.
This is like high school coach talk. Come on- these are professional athletes getting paid millions a year who are men. Do you really think they give 2 craps what their coach thinks about them when most will play for 4 or more coaches during a 10 year career?? Come one- they care about what their teammates think, their on ice production and team record( most of the time) and competing for a championship. This nostalgic view of “let’s bag skate them into doing better” is a laughable take. It’s why so many people keep calling for it but literally NHL coaches almost never use that tactic. It’s not gonna happen.

It’s also why Trouba did what he did out there last night. He knows he has to get this group going. It’s not on the coach.

Interview Gallant:

I have to say- he’s got his pulse of the team spot on. Look at what he revealed about the teams response to hitting the post of the Trouchek shot. He said they were frustrated. They must be- this team has to lead the NHL in shots hitting a post.

A coach with a frustrated team would struggle to regain them by beating them into the ground. He’s doing what he can given an abysmally constructed roster that counted on Kap and Laf to make leaps that they are pathetically unable to make.

Panarin and Zib are incredible hockey talents, but they are not the types to lay it all out on the ice when it comes down to it.

At least, thats my interpretation when I hear Trouba say in the post game. "This is a hard game, you cant just go out and do a twirl" or whatever he said

There is a lot of money sunk in to guys that couldnt care less about doing what it takes to win.

There is no response, no reaction and no heart

Team is a wreck from head to toe and there is no easy solution

100% agree with this.

Not just these kids, but in general.

Every team, even the garbage ones, can develop young stars. Ottawa and Anaheim are complete f***ing dogwater and they have pimple faced savages all over the lineup.

This isn't like corsi or the powerplay where it's like "gee whiz, I wish we were better but somebody has to be at the bottom." No, it's 31 and 1 and we're the one.

I'm convinced it was Dolan who pushed for the Panarin signing.....never mind that Panny is not the type of player you bring in when you start rebuilding.

Sounded to me like his target was above him when he said "gotta be careful what I say"
No I think he said it that way because he knows there is a group in that room that won’t react well to negative comments and can’t go anywhere. Why would he want to make his own life miserable each day seeing these guys he publically calls out?

Players in the NHL won’t ever publicly call out a coach. They won’t call out anyone in the media.
