Who knows how long the series will go. The part you didn't bold says "day to day".

Yeah but when he says "clearly he is going to be out for awhile" makes it seem like he will be gone for more than a couple games. Matt Greene has been day to day for weeks and still hasn't played.

Sounds like Stoll is out for series.

I hope this isn't an attempt to get Torres out of the series then have him come back game 2 once torres gets suspended.

Regardless hope Stoll feels better soon he's a great 3rd line center. Sucks to have a player get injured on your team. Clean hit or not.

I hope Stoll isn't hurt bad, but the Kings were up and holding at the time. I wouldn't be surprised if Sutter kept him out to try and get Torres suspended. He's not stupid and knows Torres has a rep and a catalyst to the Sharks resurgence. Taking him out would certainly help the Kings win the series.

You really think Sutter would sacrifice Stoll (at the risk of game 1) to get Torres suspended however long it be? Trust me, Sutter would much rather keep Torres in there every single period if it meant he could have Stoll the same. Not a good trade for LA.

Don't be surprised when Stoll shows up tomorrow looking fine. Sutter will then just shrug and say "I told you he was day-to-day." And Raffi will be gone for the series. For a perfectly clean hit.

To have the Sharks ice Tim Kennedy and Bracken Kearns for the rest of the series? Yes I think Sutter would do that. That's a great trade-off. One period of no Stoll for a whole series of matching up against AHL guys.

Thornton's hit on Perron was a similar instance that got him suspended a couple games. Torres has a detailed history and probably won't get any slack regardless of his penalty minutes this season. Obviously, this hit is not 5 game suspension or more worthy on its own. Careless is probably a good description of the hit and there's no such thing as a needed hit (to respond to someone saying it wasn't a hit that was needed). This is all based on his history and reputation. This only gives Shanahan an opportunity to throw his weight around and with it being Torres and the Sharks, there's no benefit of the doubt to be given here.

The big issue with this is that it is a head injury from a blindside hit and they've set precedence for this in the past. He will get suspended, it will be long, and this team will be hard-pressed to come back with this much adversity against them. It can be done but they're going to have to make some adjustments. As easy as it would be to default back to the two-line setup, it will only serve to put them in the loss category. If Stoll is out an extended period of time, it will only push them further to expose their 3rd line. Running a 4th line at this point is probably done and Gomez on the 4th line should be over also.

Pop in Desjardins, Kennedy, and Kearns periodically to give individuals a shift off. That's about what you can do to adjust for this.

Why are people reading this wrong. If the Sharks score, Stoll comes back out. Not like a player hasn't come back out after going to the locker room. I'm not saying he isn't really hurt. I'm saying it wouldn't be beyond Sutter to keep him out as long as the Kings were ahead. I am not saying he set the whole thing up and asked Stoll to get hit.

That hit is not suspension worthy, but now that Stoll is "hurt" of course it gets looked at.

Sutter says Stoll is day to day but clearly not playing for a while

Concussions are day to day now?

That's just how the Kings and Sutter work. Matt Greene has been "day to day", but hasn't played since April 24th

And this is why I was extremely worried yesterday. There was immediate outcry because it's Torres and there's alledgedly an injury and we know Shanahan suspends based on result instead of intent(failed elbow by Brown). Some people were brushing it off yesterday but come on... it's Torres. He's never gonna get the benefit of the doubt.

@brodiebrazilCSN: #sjsharks holding optional practice, but Raffi Torres has already left the building. Reports say he's headed to NYC for in-person hearing.

needed? Sorry, but in the playoffs you finish your check, EVERY check.

he was someone elses man at the time. crossed the ice to get there. into the boards fine, but open ice torres really shouldve thought twice. hes been very effective without that in his arsenal. so no...it wasnt needed.
