Even if the Pens fire Bylsma, I still want to avoid him.

1. Ruff
2. Eakins
3. Tippett (if available)

Big no's to Messier, Vigneault, and Bylsma.

Still would love to explore something out of the box like Larry Robinson or Peter Horachek.

Wouldn't be surprised if we end up with Vigneault, and he's gone in three years to put Mess at the helm. Eakins will end up in Vancouver. Ruff will focus on team Canada duties for the time being. Tortorella ends up at on NBCSports where he relentlessly bashes Sean Avery's marketing career. Tippett and Bylsma stay put.

It's funny, of all the teams looking for coaches, I haven't seen a single fanbase clamoring for Torts. Weird.

I thought Bylsma did a great job the year Crosby and Malkin missed most of the year, but the Pens have woefully underachieved in the playoffs since 2009.

I don't understand why anyone would be interested in Bylsma at all. The guy is well spoken, comes across as a smart, is respectful of the refs and the media, but what has he demonstrated as a coach where it counts, i.e., on the ice? Is it the team's performance in times when Crosby and Malkin were injured? That's about all he has going for him as far as I can tell.

I view him as a guy who has at best underachieved with an incredibly talented roster, and at worst a guy who might be directly responsible for said underachieving. The Penguins were bounced these past two years because of a lack of discipline, mental toughness, and ability to overcome adversity. That's basically all on the coach if you ask me.

Yeah, even Pens fans are hoping Bylsma is gone...

"I'm tired of Bylsmas complete lack of defensive system and ability to adapt. Ship him to NY and get Tippett."

Sounds like a Sather hire.

He's making progress. The dark ages coaches were horrific. Then Renney who was likeable but didn't have much of an offense or defense, just focused on powerplay. Then we got a guy with a focus, albeit, too stubborn of a personality to change it to personnel. I have a feeling the next guy will be more of a complete package.

edit: and by powerplay i meant penalty kill and 4th line. it's been a long week.

I kinda agree with Kenjets. Had an extreme and a passive. Maybe there's a mix now. One of the guys that's an X and O guy, and more too.

Looks like Eakins may be getting the Edmonton job so we could cross him off the list.

The Oilers making a coaching change. Today's announcement is about Ralph Krueger...they are still working on closing a deal with...

his successor. Dallas Eakins is believed to be the frontrunner, but nothing is finalized at this point.

My Sources strongly suggest Dallas Eakins will be Oilers new head coach, an announcement likely in the next few days. Krueger to be let go.

Not surprising, a ton of younger players gives Eakins some time to get acclimated to coaching in the nhl

Edmonton needs to hire a guy and stick with him for awhile, Krueger wasn't a great choice at the time IMO. Eakins will probably do well there.

So we're essentially guaranteed Vigneault at this point, unless the Rangers really go off the radar.
