I don't think I've ever heard of a fired coach not granted permission for a head coaching job.

I completely derailed this thread with the mention of former Ranger great Erik Reitz. Sorry.

I now nominate him for head coach to bring it back on topic.

Best Ranger of all time:

Buzz: Alain Vigneault Is The Top Candidate For The Rangers
June 7th, 2013 12:13 pm
Alain Vigneault

1:57PM: In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that Vigneault is believed to have the inside track to become the next head coach of the Rangers as they look for someone to maximize the talent level over the next year or two. The Rangers are not looking for someone to grow with the job.

12:13PM: On Hockey Central at Noon, Doug MacLean said that he was told Alain Vigneault is the top candidate for the Rangers head coaching job and that it could happen sooner rather than later.

The Rangers have not yet interviewed Vigneault.

Darren Millard joked that Vigneault should have on his business card that he got the job over Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky.

Haven't talked to him - going to hire him.

He's going to be Torts 2.0, without imparting the same work ethic. Hooray.

sheesh, thanks alot man! you spoiled next season for me and it's only june. well no point in watching now..

I'm worried about the treatment of our players, youngins especially

Kesler, Edler, Raymond, Bieksa and Burrows developed under AV.

Terrible coach with young players :sarcasm:

RE: Kassian, the guy lacks motivation and is inconsistent as hell. He didn't really earn his ice time most of the year. Schroeder was decent, but he put in a much more consistent effort.
