And he's been bad against Boston.
Penguins board is livid with him and want him gone.

Is there a coach out there that doesn't have some identifiable deficiency somewhere on their resume? Scotty Bowman and Al Arbour aren't available. We're not going to find the perfect guy. Whoever we get is going to come with question marks.
Good name to put out there, he's got a future, but most likely with a young team not looking to 'take the next step'
And yes, a coach needs to be a good leader, but part of that is having the respect of an entire team. If you struggle with basic X and O's of the game your team's not gonna listen to the Ra-Ra-Ra crap, and vice versa. A good Pro coach should have chutzspah, ego and know when and where to use it. I like Tippett, he's never too far up or too far down on average, he holds the ship together either way.
True. He'd be an interesting fit in Edmonton or Dallas.
Tippet makes me nervous. Not because I dislike him or his style, but because the longer he waits to make his decision, the fewer options will be left for us if he chooses to stick with the Yotes.
Are the Rangers allowed to talk to Tippet right now?
No. His contract is up on the 30th. Coyotes would have to grant us permission to talk to him.
Think I'll come back in here when there is actually something to discuss.

Nothing wrong with thinking for the better. Thinking this new HC lasts between 3-6 years again. Hence why if Mess really wants in, he needs to go start small and work his way up a hell of a lot because no one will have the stones to tell him he's gone IMO.
does it strike anyone else as odd that a team can forbid another team from talking to their coach? If I work for a bank, there's nothing stopping another bank from approuching me and offering me a job, especially as you wouldn't be starting until your current contract ran out
You don't have a contract at a Bank (unless you're a CEO or something) in which case, you wouldn't be allowed to talk to other companies/banks/entities etc. until your contract runs out.

Scotty Bowman coached for the Blues before moving on to Montreal. Al Arbour succeeded Bowman in St Louis before moving on to the Islanders. Does anyone really think that those guys were seen as not having any flaws?
And, I wonder, were Islanders fans sick of Al Arbour after 5 years of playoff disappointment?
The point is, everyone has flaws until they win, including those who we don't think had any now.
Brooklyn, I understand all that, but to use Tippett as an example, he's not exactly 'coaching' right now. I'm sure he is involved in list meetings etc, but it's not going to undermine PHO moving forward if he was listening to offers or seeking another job. While his team is still playing, I understand, but once the season is over it seems odd to me
Exactly. How many guys become HOF-caliber coaches at their first coaching stop? It doesn't happen. If we're holding out for some amazingly qualified candidate, we'll all be disappointed.
