That's fine, but he could be doing that in the NHL right now.
He should've had a better camp then! I think it's good they sent him down and I think it's great he's doing well in Rockford. He's proving to the org that he's got the ability to take their critiques in order to get better and be an NHL player. I'm sure he'll be up soon if he keeps playing like this, even if it's by the trade deadline or next season.

Curious, what awful metrics are you seeing?
HpuYQdW.png

More offensive deployment than anyone else on the team.

Faces the weakest competition out of anyone else on the team.

And yet relative to the bums he faces, he generates very little scoring chances, and bleeds scoring chances against.

Don't let the lucky 6 points fool you, he's a detriment.

That graph says nothing about how he’s played. That graph tells you where a faceoff is and who is in the ice for the other team.

This chart only shows things that are outside of his control. If you're going to use metrics to say he's been sheltered, fine, but then you have to use metrics to say he's not performing. 'He generates very little scoring chances, and bleeds scoring chances against' isn't metrics.

But even if Reichel and 4th line get sheltered minutes and less minutes,he is pkaying with 4th liners not first or 2nd liners...and probably playing with sheltered minutes 3rd pairing dmen ...so maybe who heis on with contributes to your corsi 'bum" analysis for Reichel...

Also the Musto chart shows Bedard is facing only a bit above average quality of competition ...so disappointing he is not producing more.. especialky goals.

Bedard pkays much more than Reichel...6 poibts byReichel for his monutrsvpjayed with 4th liners is contrary to the Musto "bum" analysis , imoresdive production in more limted minutes played.

But they have given Reichel now featured PP1 duty together with Bedard...Nd that extra speed helps tge puck movement..so expect more dividends from rhat use of Reichel.

Sure hebus no Kucherov...but hey neitgervis Bedard that level of effective weapon.

He should be facing the weakest opposition he's been stapled to the fourth line.

Musto is right that Reichel's metrics aren't good, but if his points are so empty calorie then why is he literally scoring goals with his big fat ass?

Re :Reichel, I wanted Mercer instead as bad as anyone, but its very easy to see how much better hes ben playing lately. He and Smith seem to have a real connection, his passing has gotten much better, and you can see his confidence growing game by game, albeit in a sheltered situation. I still laugh at his skating, as he looks like a 9 year old on rockers trying to keep his balance, and his strength on the puck is weak, but he looks to me like a bona fide NHL player in the making to me. Where he ends up is still going to be up to him.

I think Reichel and Smith work well together because of their comparable speed and willingness to play a north south game together.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with Corsi ratings, how they work, and what they show. All I saw was a chart that didn't indicate anything about actual performance
It does indicate performance.

The Y-axis is Quality of Competition relative to Corsi For%.

QoC is self explanatory. If a player is low on the Y-axis, they're sheltered. If they're high on the Y-axis, they're being deployed against the opponent's top lines.

Corsi For% is the difference between Corsi For (shot attempts for at even strength) and Corsi Against (shot attempts against at even strength). This takes shots, blocks, and misses into account.

Reichel's CF% is 42.86. Anything below 50 is negative.

42.86 is the second lowest of any forward on the team. The lowest being AA (who belongs on waivers) at 37.50. However Reichel plays against worse competition than AA, and gets way more favorable offensive deployment. So in reality, he's just as bad as AA.

But you guys just look at 6 points in 9 games, and think "oh, not bad". Well it's not sustainable with the way he plays. He's been lucky to get on the scoreboard, but he's going to fall off hard. You'll all be confused, but not me.
