In every post, you have wrapped up with something along the lines of “we will be in freefall” after the deadline.

First, given the current point system and weird, talent dilution league wide, and weird scheduling, I’m not so sure

Second, you don’t think other teams are going to be sellers and the teams already tanking better than us are to tank less?

Unless we get super lucky lottery ball wise, I think the Rangers already ****ed the whole thing up.

This has been my argument since Day One against "tanking". Basically that there are too many bad teams all trying to be bad to get those top picks. In a league where 15 teams miss the playoffs, and there's absolutely no benefit to "just missing", there's incentive to try to really suck hard. Team could still try to be terrible, and still end up with the 10th overall pick.

Three of the four major sports are infected with this disease. The only one that isn't is the NFL, basically because a mediocre team can win a few games by luck of the draw and end up in a playoff race. Plus, a team can always win big in free agency in the off season. The other sports have longer seasons and the law of averages balances things out. It's a lot easier to purposely suck than it is to try to compete with less than an arsenal of young cost controlled stars.

Hank sure looks a lot better then Sawchuk after years in the NHL.

Some of you make it seem like all these teams below us are actively trying to tank. That isn't what's happening. There's a lot of bad teams in the league right now, but if you think all those organizations have the goal of tanking for Hughes, I'm not sure you've been paying much attention to hockey lately.

Count me in on the not sold side of ADA. I'm glad he's progressing its good for the team but he still needs to focus on the defensive side of the puck. I saw too many turnovers for my liking. Turnovers that were unnecessary.

I hope Quinn can make him a good Defensive player. But time will tell. His clock is ticking

so are ALL of us, ADA is a long term piece...
Only if he plays the way Quinn preaches to him, on a consistent basis.

Couple of defensive observations about last night's defensive game (some I just posted in ADA & Lindgren threads).

1. ADA is VERY quick on his pinch. Gets to the puck very quickly. Problem is that he then tends to forget that he is not a forward and you have a situation where he, along with the forwards are down low, and his defensive partner is all alone at the line. Not sue if one of the forwards needed to cycle back or if it should have been ADA, but that can get you in trouble.
2. Lindgren actively tries to prevent players from being in front of the net. This is opposed to reacting when they get in behind the defense.
3. Shattenkirk should NEVER pinch. He is ridiculously slow to the puck and never emerges with it.
4. GO Zucc and raise that trade value!

I've seen both. Sometimes there is a forward up top, covering for the deep dman. Sometimes I see the dman hustling back if not at least gradually working his way back to his defensive position. So it depends on the situation, I think.

Also haven’t seen a Ranger score a goal like that since Gabs. He is a rookie, incredible patience and just magical.
You already forgot Pionks goal vs Montreal? Or, that doesnt count because he wasnt drafted by us, or because he is a defenseman? Maybe you just didnt see it. Either way Chytils rush was beyond amazing. Took it to the Howwwwse!

My bad! I feel like Neil gets super lucky - a lot, and I am very intrigued by him and looking forward to seeing his progress, to see if he can solidify himself as whoever the hell he is currently becoming. Fil really worked for that goal, and it was so G’damn sexy, the future is lookin’ good.

The Rangers win a game against a bad team at home, a game they should win, and they’re too good to tank. Get back to me after they go up to Boston this weekend.
I would understand some level of frustration if the Rangers undeservingly won (is there really such a thing) a game against a top team but a home game against another bottom feeder? The odds were that it would be a win.

Tony can't be sent down... He'd have to pass through waviers and I dont think he gets past that.

Just trade Hayes, Zucc, and some other guys the tank will happen. Were putting it off to the last minute to save face and keep people in the stands

I think its pretty clear this was joking... The team wins more with ADA in the lineup, I wasn't saying to starting buying at the deadline or anything like that
Our Rangers are doing their best to screw this all up, its actually rather impressive how they are winning much more than anyone thought they would. Thats the parity in the league for you, and the reality also is for years on end is.... teams NOT playing up to potential in early season games.......the season will get harder, much harder and the losses will come in bunches, just dont want blowouts. (Hey, we have a reputation to protect, no laughing stock here).

I said the Rangers are screwing this up......but it really is Quinn's doing. He's a winner, and doing everything he can with this bunch......which should help in the years to follow. Good on him, bad for the 1OA though.

With that said......Tony needs to be sent down, (facts are facts in bold) and Hayes and Zuccha need to be traded asap. I understand waiting for those bidding wars......yet, I am deathly afraid of either going down with a significant injury. Need proof? Hayes is out right now. Who is to say it isnt a bad injury and we are covering it up? Who is to say that teams wont question it and try and drive price down? He had better come back and play like he was before the injury. We need him to.

Was joking bud, i knew that, i was being sarcastic......I deserve a "Tony" award for that one. Lol.
The longer this goes on....the more nervous i become. This is a LEGIT shot we have going on here for accomplishing what was set out to do with that letter. One more solid draft coming and we would have accomplished filling the cupboard.

Even if we get Panarin (and dont re-sign Kevin) that would become somewhat of a wash and probably will still be low in the standings next year and we may get a couple more decent looking kids. By 2020 we shpuld be on our way.

BUT, if Hayes or Zuccha goes down.....we are screwed royally. The return will lessen and things will get ugly around here.

A rebuild will take a loooong time without those two. Zucc is basically the engine on this team, when he plays well the rest will follow him. What happens to a car when you remove it's engine? :DD

if by Engine you mean a cylinder that frequently misfires, yeah.
