I think he has. Kid is unreal. And if he gets a cup this year, I think it's no question that Makar has exceeded a prime Karlsson in much less time. Makar has already had more playoff success in his first 4 years than Karlsson has had over his entire playoff career. Mind you, surprisingly Karlsson has only played in the post season 6 times in his 13 year career. But also Karlsson has played on some stacked Ottawa rosters too.

We had a thornton sucks thread, we had a hertl sucks thread, now a karlsson sucks thread.

Cale is pretty darn good, top 5 asset in the league probably.

He has surpassed Karlsson. Now on to debating him vs Lidstrom.
No he hasn't....

People seem to ignore the teams these guys play on. Karlsson was on trash. And he dominated at a level Makar has not reached... yet.

Last week the same guys on HNIC said he wasn't as good as Karlsson, now they're saying Bobby Orr...

Makar is a special player with ridiculous potential. Let's wait and see before declaring him the next Lidstrom or Harvey or... Orr.

Discussing postseason success between the two points to either a young poster or someone with a very poor memory.

Here is the top 10 playoff scorers for the 2016/17 Senators that made it within a goal from the Stanley Cup Finals:

Dion Phaneuf (D) 8192130100-6|1914517-3

And make no mistake, the top 10 is not an arbitrary cutoff the leaves some big names off. The next 3 are 35 year old Burrows and two D-men.

Mike Hoffman is the club’s best scorer? Geez.

Craig Anderson was a stud though and better than the Avs goalies. Makar is also outscoring MacKinnon.

There's already a poll on this very question on the front page of the polls section. This thread is a duplicate.

Surpassed of him being a better offensive defenseman?

Karlsson was just not a very good defenseman but Makar has better players surrounding him.

Karlsson's supporting cast was atrocious compared to Makar's, so it's not as easy as to just watch the raw stats.

How many times has Makar lead Colorado in regular season points?
Would then-Karlsson even lead today's Avs in points? It's not a given at all. Rantanen and Mackinnon are better than any forward he ever played with.

What stacked rosters did Karlsson play on?

I can tell you he never played on a team remotely close to the current Avs.

Lidstrom? Okay that's way too much.

Karlsson's supporting cast was atrocious compared to Makar's, so it's not as easy as to just watch the raw stats.

Colorado has arguably third best forward in the NHL on pace for over 100 points every season... Good argument
