I had a feeling the Jets would come out firing under the bright lights of Broadway, to showcase themselves. Didn't disappoint.
Where to start?
Top line excellent. Moving the puck like guys who know how to play hockey. Scheif was good in all 3 zones. You could tell KC wanted to get him the hatty at the end, a little too much but he will be happy to get back on the board again.
2nd line got a big goal when the game was still within the Rangers reach. Perfetti didn't get on the scoreboard but showed some strength out there. Namestnikov winning top 6 matchups is hard to ignore. Ehlers was good for the most part. Some bad defensive zone turnovers from this line might want to be cleaned up.
Checking line was good, Nino made a lot of plays. -1 was a tough break. Tough night for Lurch on the draw.
4th line again having a spark. I wonder what the analytics say about Iafallo blocking shots in the d-zone that transitions to offense. Seems to happen a couple of times a game. Nice of him to get the reward at the end of the game. Deserved to be out there. Kupari was flying.
Defense had some moments each and every one of them had some struggles too at times. Perfect games are only in baseball. Helly made a statement in a marquee matchup bailing out the team when they broke down.
Pionk having a 3 point night, +2 (though to qualify it one of the +s came on a defensive change while Namestnikov and Ehlers were on a 2-1) , while Trouba had a goose egg, and -3, well I think Pionk had something to prove tonight. De Melo has been steady of late, and his play on the GWG was outstanding.
The Jets winning with style is fun to watch.
Jets have played in the North so far in their road trips, we'll see how a trip to Florida in mid November goes.
I thought the Jets made a statement tonight.
