I know it's not a big deal per se... But Cuylle is involved with PEP.. the training/camp that McDavid has made popular.I agree with the majority of your post except for Barron. Thought he was doing quite the opposite. Was not moving his feet enough and looked delayed out there, getting caught puck watching 1-2 seconds too long before reacting and getting his motor started. Of course I think he is gona be fine, he had a much better 3rd period, but did not see the same things you claim to have. Saw him turn pucks over, lose battles, and again just looked a step behind. He was letting the play come to him too much.
Meanwhile Cuylle was taking the play to the opponent. Much more involved, constantly around the puck. This being a 18/19 year old vs a 21/22 year old who has seasoning in college, it was a stark difference.
Only one game, but Barron needs time.

I appreciate everyone's shared observations, but don't take them too seriously, yet
Almost all these guys were playing their first competitive game in almost 11 monthes.
Many in their first pro game.
Likely a reason Tarmo looked so good (not dissing him) is he's had a partial season already.
Glad they won, I won't be watching much AHL durung season, so that 3d period was fun.
Didn't do the career games played count, are Pack near limit? Wondering about Greco out, maybe getting taxi squad money...
Glad they gave 6 of the 7 NCAA rookies, and Cuylle and Schneider, this game.
Cuylle's goal
Barron's PP Snipe (Richards apple)
Tarmo's flip to set up goal #3
I have no idea why Richards didn't get an assist on this play. He clearly should get the primary. HWP official scorers are the reverse of the NJD ones (As mentioned before, I think Barron got a stick on a Sound Tiger pass before it popped onto Brodzinski's blade for Pack goal #2, which was called unassisted.)
Schneider doing things

Thank you for your analysis!Pack win 5-2.
Cuylle just looks unfazed by this level. Excited to see if he can keep improving. Plays a pro style. Keeps it simple. But he's effective, especially on the forecheck. Still should keep playing here or juniors for a year or 2. But i like.
Reuschoff. I like him. Big kid. Doesn't look remotely out of place. Good in the corners. Good stick. Decent skating.
Gettinger seems faster, more dangerous. I think he's on the cusp of finally being a 4th liner.
Schneider go beat wide by Jobst. (who was by far the most effective Bridgeport player). But then, next shift showed off his skills in the offensive zone. He played a most effective game. The thing is, he's not really a pure shutdown D. He's a kid with good skating, good outlet passing and some real offensive instincts. Kinda feels like a better skating, better passing version of Dan Girardi. Girardi was one fo the guys who was known for stability in his own zone but had actually decent instincts in the offensive zone. Really like Schneider's game. Going to translate well I think.
Reunanen sorta reminds me of Keane at this level. Stands out. Sometimes he's not quite in the right place in his own zone. But the vision and skill is apparent.
Finally, I'm a fan of Patrick Newell. Undersized kid but the skill, speed and offensive game is really enjoyable to watch. Don't know if he has the size to play in the NHL, but he's a fun guy to root for.
What was great is they the coaches gave the kids a chance rather than rolling out the AHL vets. As all of you have noted the kids did very well after a slow start. Reunanen can clearly handle the puck and Schneider looked like he did in the world juniors. the write ups on him questioned his offensive ability and while he is not Adam Fox he showed something both in the junior tournament and today. I thought each of the 2020 college free agent signees looked very good, much better than past college free agents, and really impressed by Reuschholff. Word on him was that he couldn't skate that well but he looked fine, showed good hockey sense and really used his body well to shield off the defense. He did exactly what Gettinger doesn't do, use his body and make good plays. Cuylle and Barron improved as the game went on. Don't forget this was the first game of their pro careers and the butterflies must have been very active in each of them.
What I didn't like was the play of the younger vets. Raddysh give away for one goal and neither he nor Crawley did anything to stand out. Gettinger and Fontaine don't look like they have the necessary hockey sense and seemed destined to be AHL players. Newell made a couple of nice plays and while I like him I'm not sure I see an NHL player. With his small size I don't see enough in the rest of his game to make he think he has an NHL future. I think he already is 25.
All in all very encouraging start. I signed up for AHL TV and being retired I can watch the mid week afternoon games without any problems. Perhaps one day AHL TV will stat using this new technology,"instant replay."
Pack win 5-2.

Really like the way that Cuylle separates himself from the defender right before the goal. Just that step back gave him all the room he needed.
Glad to see my boy score in his debut. Bummed I missed the game. It's nice to hear he improved as the game went on.
Man let me tell u watched the game and Barron Cuylle Schneider and Reunanen were all fantastic.
Barron is just such a smart player I could gush about him forever. Always moving his feet. Heavy shot. Gets into the right spots. Good on face offs. Does it all type.
then you have Cuylle who’s already a better player than Andersson. Great wheels was buzzing (good and bad) no matter what. Just got better as the game went on. Both guys never passed up on throwing the body
Schneider was fantastic in every aspect.
reunanen very solid. Adam Fox lite lite. Just smart getting pucks thru.
There was talk about Schneider's game being much closer to NHL ready than some people think. He is never going to be the puck mover that a Lundqvist is, but he makes for a good, quick outlet pass and does not look at the other end of the ice like it is some uncross able waste land.I was quite excited with our draft this year and it wasn't just Lafreniere. Both Braden Schneider and Will Cuylle are big guys who can play and who aren't afraid of playing physical. Both actually kind of prefer to play that way and I don't know if today is that surprising for me because they're both physically ready to make this step. I don't think Schneider for one is that far away from the NHL.
Guess it is possible that Harford is not such a mess after all. Who woulda' thunk it?Someone on this board said this on draft day...hmmmm...I wonder who that was.

Regarding Cuylle, he is the type of prospect that should make the current bottom-6 wingers rethink their comfort level.
Magic 8 ball says.......NOAre you sure we're not looking at Dane Byers and Dylan McIlrath reudx?
Hey I also said he'd be better than Greig.Someone on this board said this on draft day...hmmmm...I wonder who that was.
