Reusch, then Jordan, now Whelan traded
Pack restructuring up front since adding Lockwood and Leschyshyn
Whelan traded to Cleveland for future considerations. Rangers/Hartford now lead in future considerations in 2022.

Who’s this did from the nucks AHL team?
Pack add
an AHL LD from Canucks, Kalynuk (reputedly for Future Considerations, but seems closure on Krav deal)
and a Swedish winger Blidh from Avs for Rydahl

Kalynuk was a late Flyer pick, he was captain of Wisconsin during K'Andre's sophomore/final season, and so also a former teammate of Emberson (but not Richter, Step or McD 8^)
Unsigned by Flyers, he signed with Blackhawks. This from press release of that signing:
" Kalynuk, 23, served as team captain of the Wisconsin Badgers last year and recorded a career-high 28 points (7G, 21A) in 36 contests during his junior season. The defenseman earned All-Big Ten Conference honors for the first time in his collegiate career last season, finishing second among all Big Ten blueliners in points (28) and tied for second in goals (7).
Kalynuk was named the Spike Carlson/Chris Chelios Most Valuable Player and to the All-Big Ten Second Team on defense during his sophomore season after notching 25 points (9G, 16A) in 37 games. As a freshman, he was selected to the All-Big Ten Freshmen Team and the All-Big Ten Honorable Mention Team after compiling 25 points (3G, 22A) in 37 contests. Overall, the Virden, Manitoba native recorded 78 points (19G, 59A) in 110 appearances with Wisconsin..."

Blidh is 27 year old physical Swedish wing, a few months younger than Rydahl.
He has appeared in some NHL games for 7 straight season, 84 GP 12 pts 41PIM

Not too long ago i recall a NYR deal (but not who/when) that was NHL futures in one direction, but seemingly linked to an AHL level for 'considerations,' in opposite direction between the NHL trade-partners' AHL teams, so net result was a swap between the AHL affiliates' rosters
so today this happens again, Kalynuk to Pack on NHL contract

Giutarri to Abbotsford on AHL deal

What strikes me most is how, since Camp,
Drury/Martin have purged the RHD depth chart

Traded: Nils, Skinner, Welinski, Giutarri(AHL contract), Luke Martin(AHL)

Incoming: Clendening(AHL)

Maybe they're eyeing a UDFA NCAA RD to sign soon?

Pack loose 1-0 in a shootout. That's the team's 7th shoot out lose this year, two more than any other team in the AHL. There's just not a lot of offensive talent on this team.

With tonight's games here is the up to date standings:
Team Points Games
4. Springfield 60 53
5. Lehigh Valley 58 54
6. Bridgeport 56 53
7. Hartford 56 53 (one less regulation win than Bridgeport)
8. Wilkes Barre 52 53

Hartford plays Bridgeport tomorrow and Charlotte on Sunday.

As far as the players, healthy scratches tonight:
F -- Tardif, Blidh (expected to be available Sunday), Lockwood (with team)
D-- Hillman, Kalnyuk (traveling), Zech (healthy scratch)

On defense:
Scanlin -- Clendening
Robertson -- Emberson
Hayek -- Jones

Up front:

Trivigno--Carpenter--Elson
Gettinger--Brodzinski--Pajuniemi
Cuylle--Lyschyshen--Fritz
Digiacinto--Rempe--Henriksson

Not a great deal of offensive skill at center with Carpenter, Lyschyshen and Rempe.

I would think once everyone arrives Hillman, Tardif and possibly Digiacinto going to Jacksonville.
The shootout went 7 rounds:
1. Jones -- No Goal
2. Brodzinsk -- No Goal
3. Gettinger -- No Goal
4. Cuylle -- No Goal
5. Carpenter -- No Goal
6. Clendening -- Goal
7. Trivigno -- No Goal

Tony A., who covers the AHL, had these two tweets this afternoon:

Tony Androckitis*

#NYR has helped
@WolfPackAHL
be a playoff contender in Atlantic Division. IN: Anton Blidh, Adam Clendening, Wyatt Kalynuk, Jake Leschyshyn, Will Lockwood & Cooper Zech OUT: Zach Giuttari, Zach Jordan, Austin Rueschhoff, Gustav Rhydal, Andy Welinski & Alex Whelan

The winners of the trade deadline at the AHL level has to be Hartford (NYR) in the Eastern Conference, and Rockford (CHI) in the Western Conference. Rangers & Blackhawks did good by their AHL affiliate the last few days/week.

More from Tony A. on AHL trade deadline and playoff rules:

It's also worth noting the AHL's trade/loan deadline is next Friday, March 10 at 3 pm ET. Players on AHL contracts can be traded. Players in the AHL on NHL contracts can be loaned to other AHL teams i.e. Tampa Bay loaning Gemel Smith to Henderson (VGK).

Yearly reminder for @TheAHL fans: Any player not on an AHL roster (meaning they're in the NHL) when tomorrow's trade deadline passes is ineligible to play in the AHL the rest of the regular season & 2023 Calder Cup Playoffs. @InsideAHLHockey

Clendening, Emberson and Jones played right defense tonight. Scanlin played it last year when he signed after the college season.

As I think Eco Bones pointed out, Sam Malinski, right handed defenseman out of Cornell attended Rangers development camp last July. Chris Peters ranked him as the second best NCAA free agent. Very good offensively, small but can play defense, will be 25 at the start of the season next year.

Big game for the Pack tonight. Playing Bridgeport, one of the teams they are competing with for a spot in the playoffs.

Pack already up 2-0 early in the 1st. Cuylle and Brodz each with a goal and an assist so far.

cant remember when he went back down but looks like cuylle amped up the production the last couple weeks which is great to see - if you catch a decent amount of games does his play reflect that? not that his calling card is going to be points but would be nice to have a guy take a real leap forward to where he starts forcing the rangers to look for an opportunity for him rather than them wanting to get a look at him with an opportunity

That was some kind of beatdown. I wish I could have watched it. 9-0 final with Bridgeport being outshot 46-11.

Brodz with 2+2, Gettinger with 1+3, Cuylle with 1+2 and Paju with 0+3. Only 5 skaters without at least 1 point.

Unfortunately, the other teams they are chasing are winning, but the Pack are in a playoff spot for now.

Will Cuylle is really getting me excited to see a prospect again even after the disappointment of Kakko/Lafreniere.

I think someone forgot to tell Bridgeport there was a game tonight. The Pack went 3 for 4 on the PP. The fourth line of Rempe -- Digiacinto -- Henriksson did not score but had 12 shots on goal, more than the entire Bridgeport team.

No changes to the lineup. Blidh and Kalnyuk still not with the team. Lockwood and Zech were healthy scratches. Lines and defense pairings were the same except Fritz centered Gettinger and Pajuniemi rather than Brodzinski who was moved to right wing with Cuylle and Lyschyshen.

After a game like this I'm not sure the coaches will want to make changes to the lineup for tomorrow's game with Charlotte.

I don't know why people think that if a player is a plugger in the NHL, they can't contribute much at the AHL. Ryan Carpenter is 15G15A-30pts in 33 games in Hartford.

Hartford is 5-0-1 in their last six, but everyone head of them seems to keep winning.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville has gone from fighting for the cellar spot a few months ago to first place in the division. I't hard to keep track of the Hartford roster with all the guys coming in and shipping out, but it looks like the Pack has a LOT of extra players. With a bunch of blue line injuries, Jacksonville has been playing with 3-4 SPHL guys at D and another 1-2 SPHL guys up front. They also played a man short last night. It would be great if the Pack could send someone, anyone down.
