I'm now trying to figure out how Easton Brodzinski played 5 full seasons in the NCAA

Ncaa granted 1year extended eligibility to all actives due to covid
Yeah, everyone got an extra year in the fall and winter sports IIRC, even if they played their season last year. So a guy like Kjellberg who didn't play gets an extra year, but so do our guys Berard, Ciccolini, and Hughes (Ciccolini could theoretically get another extra year as well, if he were given an injury exception).

Remember when Tyler Nanne was in college for what felt like a decade?

It's like a reunion when the Crunch come to town. They got Sean Day, Freddie Claesson, Darren Raddysh, and PC Labrie.

I thought the Rangers were going to sign some college goalies? I guess they don’t like the route to the NHL with this organization

They were publicly in on 3 goalies who signed elsewhere and probably in on a few more. In one case I am aware that the prospect was looking to be a #3 goalie in the organization and thought that slot would be given to Garand in the Rangers system. Clay Stevenson from Dartmouth was quoted in an article in the Athletic as saying he was impressed by he Caps development of big goalies.

These prospects are talking to their advisers and trying to figure out what is best for them. They each seem to have different things for which they are looking.

That the Rangers have not signed a college goalie, at least yet, does not mean the team didn't try.

Pajuniemi
Othmann
Berard
Lamb
i am shocked that Pajuniemi has not been called up at all. Berard I feel will sign this summer. Othmann I feel will make the Rangers next season. Lamb is years away. They can use some AHL forwards with a shoot first mentality that could be a future Rangers player.

It's highly doubtful that Berard signs this summer. He wants to play with his brother next year.

For every game he is noticable, he disappears for 8-9 others. Needs to work on consistency... great skills and shot, but showing up for 1-2 games out of 10 won't earn him a call up

what goalies big or otherwise have the caps developed?
The article says he chose the Caps over Arizona, Vancouver, Seattle and the New York Rangers. He specifically referred to goalies the Caps have developed over the years. He didn't mention specific names but living in the DC area I am familiar with Caps goaltenders over the years and they would include:
Senyon Varlamov, Vitek Vanacek, Ilya Samsonov, Michal Neuvirth, Olaf Kolzig, Braden Holtby, and Philip Grubauer. He specifically referred to being comfortable with Kolzig who is a Caps goalie coach.

The point is that each of these players works with their advisers and comes up with criteria that they think will work for them and we can't assume that the Rangers success with developing goalies is going to be the key criteria for which they are looking.

I'm a little more positive on Pajuniemi. I think he's had a good rookie season, particularly for someone coming from overseas. The shot is evident, I've seen some examples of stick handling ability, he's thrown several strong checks and his skating is adequate. He's also been hurt by not having quality players to play with. I've seen too many instances where he is on the third line with players who are not NHL caliber. I don't think the coaching staff has done a good job at putting him in the best position to develop.

But I would agree he has not been consistent and he will need to build on his season next year. I see him as possibly a 3rd line RW.
