This team turned into a f... disaster, I have disabled the AHL TV auto-renewal for next season. Bottom line, GM Ryan Martin failed this team and he failed it by not beefing up at the deadline. I really can't justify staying up till 1am local time to watch them sh.. the bed, game after game after game. And I go back to the Binghampon Rangers following and cheering for them... why? WHY? W-H-Y???

What else are you going to do for misery?
Sadly, the future NHL Referees look like they will be just as pathetic as the present ones.

Islanders fan coming in peace. Was looking at the AHL standings and Hartford has played 7 games less than a lot of teams in the division. Did they get hit by Covid or is there another reason why they've played so fewer games?

Some players had covid. I don’t think the team got shut down for any extend period although I could be wrong. I don’t get a chance to pay attention to Hartford and the AHL as much as I can but I do try.

IIRC they did postpone a couple/few games when they didn't have enough players

FYI beginning today, Pack play 5 in 8 nights so that gap will narrow

Jones has a great shot.
On a sadder note it’s very disheartening to see all the empty seats at tonight’s game.
When I was a teenager, my friends and I would pile into a car and head up to New Haven to watch games and the arena was mostly full. I’m guessing a lot of the AHL/IHL arenas were also at near capacity. Probably 400 cable channels, the internet and social networking has killed community gatherings.
Pity. ☹️

sometimes I've been surprised Pack have tried so many ATO's up front, or dressed 8D,
without giving signed guys like Sanchez (7 Pack games this) or Elmer(10) some ice

Sanchez (expiring AHL Pack deal) probably gets signed, somewhere, for next year, based on this alone

Elmer has always looked nonexistent to me, but I've always liked Sanchez. Whenever he plays, he looks like an AHL-caliber player for sure. Never understood why he hasn't been able to stick.

Agree. Sanchez had five points in eight Hartford games last year and looked pretty good. He's only been in 7 Hartford games and from what I saw not given much of a chance in those games.

I also like Berzolla when he came up for a few games to Hartford but with the logjam at defense it makes more sense that he didn't get much of a chance with Hartford.

12 games left this regular season (last one on April 24th), thank god. They're 2-8 in the last 10 games, and if you look who is behind them... missing the playoffs is a realistic scenario.

With Hartford dropping another game tonight, 2-9 in last 11, I wondered if the team's dip coincided with the Rangers calling up Johnny Brodinski.

Brodzinski was recalled on March 1. Since then the team has gone 4-10. The team scored 39 goals in those 14 games averaging 2.78 G/G and scoring 2 or fewer goals in 7 of the games. But the defense seems to have dropped off with the team giving up 53 goals or 3.78 or one goal more game than they score. In six of the losses the team has given up 4 or more goals including two 7 goal games and one 6 goal game.

That the team's decline in the absence of Brodzinski doesn't prove causation but I think the evidence suggests that causation is involved. Without Brodzinski the team has played Tanner Fritz, Patrick Khodorenko, Justin Richards and Mike O'Leary pretty consistently at center. Fritz is a solid AHL veteran and has scored 34 points in 55 games but probably is in over his head as the top line center. Khodorenko showed little last year and has followed up with a slightly better season this year but only has 21 points and 14 assists in 55 games. Last year Justin Richards showed himself to be a hard working player who is offensively challenged. This year the offense hasn't gotten any better with only 14 points including 8 assists in 56 games. But he has accumulated a mind blowing -26 in those games. I know that plus/minus has lots of problems but the next lowest +/- on the team was Anthony Bitetto at -11. Mike O'Leary is a hard working player but also offensively challenged with only 11 points including 5 assists in 52 games.

In 36 games, Brodzinski had 39 points. Admittedly he played with better wingers and got first team power play time but he still scored more points in 36 games than any two of Khodorenko, Richards or O'Leary scored in over 50 games apiece.

It seems more than a coincidence that Brodzinski moving to the Rangers has hurt the Pack given the lack of center depth on the team. Normally you wouldn't care that much but with the influx of the three forwards to the Rangers Brodzinski is spending time up in the press box rather than helping a floundering Hartford team and not helping the development of the kids.

Tonight, Gettinger and Lundqvist were out with day to day injuries but Justin Richards was a healthy scratch.

Nick Merkely was a big scorer before he came to the Pack but hasn't had much impact since arriving and Maxim Letunov was hardly an offensive juggernaut before coming to the Pack.

Maybe the team can turn things around but the trend is bad and there is little hope if your centers aren't generating any offense.

Hmm, and I wonder why Kravtsov didn't want to play for this dumpster fire of a team? Glad he is getting some real experience at least in the 2nd best league and going deep into the playoffs there.

Did you watch their game? Gustavsson started for Belleville. How did he look? He only gave up one goal but that's deceiving sometimes. Gustavsson would be an ideal candidate for the Rangers back-up goalie opening next season.

They also lost Barron around the same time.
