Watching my first Wolf Pack game since MSG tried broadcasting a few ( I want to say in the 90’s?).
Curious if Ron Francis still has any ties to the Hartford area?

Period started really slow but then picked up big time halfway through. Pack went up 1-0 when Reunanen fired a beautiful fake shot/slap pass from the top of the circle to Fritz in front who redirected it in. Very nice play. Hartford gave it back, terrible goal allowed by Kinkaid. Hershey guy threw a frisbee at the cage from the half wall, no screen or anything, that somehow got inside the arm of Kinkaid. I don't actually think it was even on net. 1-1 after one.

Gettinger really doesn't get enough credit because it feels like he has been around forever but he is 23 (same age as Barron) and close to a ppg in the AHL, with improvement every season.
Yeah, he's one of those cases of a guy where he's been around for a long time, and you feel like you know what you have (even though he is still getting incrementally better), but people prefer the younger prospects more because they have perceived higher upside. It's the old Family Guy gag where you can pick a boat, or the mystery box--which could be anything, even a boat! The younger guys could be Tim Gettinger, or anything--even Tim Gettinger! LOL. I'm not saying it's wrong way to prefer the younger, unfinished product, either. I mean there's a real chance that Cuylle never exceeds what Gettinger has done, it's just the reality of prospects. But there's also a very real chance he's a successful NHL player for many years, and so of course you'd take him over Gettinger.

With all that said, I do think we tend to undervalue guys like Gettinger, who if nothing else are really good organizational depth players, which every good team needs. I would honestly rather see Gettinger in the lineup than Brodzinski or McKegg. Those guys have more "versatility" but I think at this point Timmy might actually be the better player.

Man, where are those hands on Gettinger and Brodzinski when they're up with the big club!

I keep half expecting Brodzinski to turn into the next PA Parenteau where they don't make the NHL until later in their careers.

Getting a bit late in the day even for that though.

5 SOG for Nils yesterday.

His high shot volume has started to come along but he has all of 1 pro goal in NA to show for it. Is he at least generating good chances down in the A because most of his shots at the NHL level were right into the goalie's crest.

gettinger needs to bulk up and be more physical for a 3rd or 4 th line role. I would rather see him over mckegg and jb for sure.

1-0 after 1 with Reuschhoff's deflection on the PP for his 10th goal of the year. Up tempo period.

D pairs are 6-13, 4-24, 2-51.

Lines ar 26-22-28, 7-27-11, 21-19-48, 10-55-8.

Luchuk playing because of late scratch of Digiacinto.

Nice job by Rueschhoff deflecting the Reunanen shit for a PPG.

Man I hope Ruesschoff or Getts can be a viable 4th liner for us next season.....
Austin making the most of his playing time down there when he wasn’t getting any early... he played pretty well last year too...

Gettinger has improved his play a great deal and is a solid AHL player. But I am a little lower on him on others. While he is more physical than he used to be he is not a punishing physical player and while his skating is fine for a bigger player I think he is a step slow, particularly in his quickness. I don't see him as a fourth liner. I like Dryden Hunt as a fourth liner more than Gettinger because of his skating and physical play. And while Gettinger has shown he has some offensive skills he doesn't have the offensive skills to be a top 6 player. I was very down on Gettinger at the beginning of last year and thought he was garbage. Good on him for proving me wrong. But I don't see more than a good AHL player and an occasional call up when injuries occur.

I have been much higher on Reuschhoff since seeing him play last year. He was the least prominent of their three NCAA free agents (Khodorenko and Richards were the other two) but I thought he had the best projection, particularly since in my opinion Knoubloch has misused him by not playing on the top two lines for all of last year and a good portion of this year. He can be physical and there are times when he is carrying the puck and he uses his body to keep defensively players away. He has a very good, quick wrist shot, maybe second best on the team to Barron, and he skates better than I expected. And finally in the second half of last season he and Ronning were moved to the 2nd PP and they both made that PP as if not more effective than the first. He doesn't have Kreider's skills in front of the goalie but his size makes him very effective in screening the goalie. He is not a top line player but I can see him in the fourth line role as a guy who can be physical while having some offensive skills. When the taxi squad was created and the Pack lost some of their top players Resuchhoff finally was given a consistent top two line role and he is the one guy on the team that used that opportunity to show off his skills.

So perhaps he is the guy that can be the viable fourth liner that you want.

In my opinion, Robertson does several things well but he doesn't really stand out in any one area. He is not physical like, Lindgren and doesn't have the offensive skills of a Jones or Lundquist. He is good defensively and responsible with the puck. I see him as a 5-6 NHL defenseman, maybe even a 4. On the other hand this is his first pro year and he does have the size and skating ability to grow his game. So maybe I'm underselling him and he has a higher ceiling. I have been wrong before as Mrs. Ranger Ric constantly reminds me.

Anybody, how has Robertson looked lately?
