some may recall Beach was w Pack on NYR/NHL contract briefly after the Hawks

I'm confused by the Billy Tibbets part. He suggested that Sather was misguided to give him second chance. What am I missing here? Isn't that a good call or was the poorly written?

I think he's saying he's mortified that he was critical of Beach in the same article where he was critical of Tibbets. Like he was putting them on the same level or something. It's an overreaction honestly but whatever, that's just how that guy Murphy is.

Kyle Beach got a lot of heat for fighting finesse Norwegian player Mathias Olimb during rookie camp just months after the incident. Haven’t seen anyone put these incident together…

Olimb got a bad shoulder injury from it and missed a ton of time.

4-2 Hartford after 1. Reunanen throws a puck at the net that goes in. One of the strongest parts of his game is that he consistently gets his shots on goal. Ty Running two goals after two bad turnovers by Islander defensemen and he snaps two shots into the net. Alex Whelan makes an excellent drive down the wing and around the defensemen and he sends a backhander past the goalie. All goals except Reunanen unassisted. Two Islander goals come from quick shot off face off on Islander power play and turnover by Robertson at defensive blue line that leads to Islander attack and shot passed Kinkaid. Giutarri in for an injured Bitetto.

Tonight's lines:

Gettinger - Brodzinski - Greco Ronning - Barron - Pajuniemi DiGiacinto - Fritz - Richards Labrie - Khodorenko - Whelan Jones - Schneider Robertson - Giuttari Reunanen - Skinner Kinkaid

Scratches are Bitetto, Wall, Taylor Rueschhoff and O’Leary. I think Rueschhoff may be injured but I am not sure.

4-3 Hartford after 2. Islanders score a second power play goal on a deflection. This period may have set the game of hockey back fifty years with neither team able to generate much offense and few periods that either team kept the puck in their offensive zone for a lengthy period.

It's a 7-4 final. Gettinger scores first in the 3rd period. He actually made a weak attempted backhanded dump in that was stopped by the defense but went right back to Gettinger who was able to get around the flat footed defender and score. After the Islanders scored Morgan Barron made a power move to the net and fed Fritz all alone in front. Barron really used his strength in this game. Gettinger scores an empty netter for the final goal. Ronning and Barron also hit posts in the period. Despite scoring 7 goals it wasn't a great offensive performance with relatively little controlled play in the offensive zone. but it's another win. Ronning and Gettinger were first two stars. Reunanen and Jones stood out on defense. A couple of turnovers from Robertson and Schneider. Hopefully that will stop with more experience.

Weird box score. 7 even strength goals for the Pack and three unassisted goals. A whopping 2699 attendance in Hartford.

Yes the lower bowl looked empty.

The two Ronning goals were Islander turnovers in its end the Running pounced on and waisted the shots in. Whelan's goal was a great individual effort, the first time I saw him do anything like that. Reunanan's goal was one of those seeing eye shots but to his credit he gets his shots to the net. Gettinger's goals were empty netter and a failed dump in that he collected and went around the defenseman. The only goal with some sustained pressure was the Fritz goal where Barron really used his strength to hold the puck and get it to Fritz uncovered in the slot. While you have to give the Pack credit for being opportunistic the team didn't generate much sustained pressure (Although both Barron and Ronning hit posts) and the seven goals is somewhat misleading.

I know the Pack has gotten off to a good start but most of the offense is coming from Brodzinski and Greco, with Barron weighing in with his return and the forward prospects, Pajuniemi, Khodorenko, Richards, not showing much. Reunanen and Jones stood out on defense.

Weird box score. 7 even strength goals for the Pack and three unassisted goals. A whopping 2699 attendance in Hartford.

Are you asking whether the Hartford PR department is providing any useful information about the team members?

Wall has been listed as a scratch with no word on any injury. If he is healthy it doesn't make sense for him to be sitting on
the bench rather than playing in Jacksonville.

Does anyone know if Tyler Wall is injured and if so, when is his expected return?

curious re Rueshchoff too,
if healthy, don't love that so many AHL-signees(Whelan, Fritz, Labrie, Digiacinto, OLeary [didnt play friday] ) plus journeymen(Brodz, Greco) guys playing up-front ahead of 24-yr-old 2nd year pro prospect

Gerry Cantlon said in his column this morning that the team is currently "injury-free" so I don't know.

One other observation, regarding some of the younger guys who aren't doing as well this year--last year I talked about how the AHL was watered-down. Both in terms of the schedule and quality of competition. I wonder how long of the guys saw success because of that.

“How can I somehow involve myself in this story?”

“I’m going to show how everyone how woke I am!”

This dude is just trying to capitalize on this incident by using it to get his own name out there.

What a boob. As if anyone was going back to 2014 to reference articles from his mediocre (to be generous), website.

I don't really see a problem with apologizing for the original story. The apology was over the top, but otherwise it's fine. The problem is more amateur bloggers passing themselves off as experts and insiders and regurgitating shit they see on Twitter or hear on other amateur podcasts and passing it off as undeniable fact. And those guys at that place are bad about that.

I don’t mind a genuine apology, but I didn’t get that feeling reading his tweet.

Just an FYI since it came up earlier, Rueschhoff is back in and Wall is making his first appearance. Good timing LOL.

Gettinger always sounds so promising but every time I see him get a chance, he looks uncomfortable and lost.

Does he ever make it?

Pack won 4-3 tonight. Some observations:

1. Wall was really strong until the 3rd. They were up 4-0. The first goal was def not his fault, but that seemed to mess with his confidence a bit. Not sure why he looked a bit lost on the 2nd goal. And the 3rd he got caught not squaring up on a bad angle goal. I was really excited by his first two periods. He was playing calm. He was handling the puck well. He was locating screen shots. He was looking real good. Hopefully he can still build on it.

2. Jones... wow. This is the Zac Jones I was hoping to see at the start of the HFD season. He looked phenomenal. Schneider looked very decent too. But Zac was great.

3. Robertson got his first pro point. But I thought overall he made some good plays, made some less good plays. Needs more time to cook.

4. . Schneider had a really great primary assist on Gettingers shorthander.

5. Overall, the team dominated for a good chunk of the game. The D are really impressive compared to season's past in regards to breakout passes and getting the puck up ice. It's allowing the forwards to come in waves and be effective. When they are going, they are fun to watch.

Just a small update to say, I watched part of the game today.

Jones is pretty darn close to ready.

I thought Schneider was decent too.

Pujaniemi had a very nice snipe.

But really hard to make any real observations on a 3rd game in 3 nights. It's brutal and the team didn't have the same zip as the previous two nights. To be expected. Kinkaid seemed pretty solid. Looks very odd seeing such a tall goalie in the vintage Richter pads.

I also watched the game. Very obvious this was the 3rd game in 3 days. Pack gave up lots of uneven chances.

The big takeaway for me was that Pajuniemi looked very good. In addition to his snipe he was physical and made a couple of nice stick handles to create some chances. He played RW with Barron at center and Ronning moving over to LW.

In the games I have seen Jones looks like the best defenseman. But I think it makes sense for him to continue to play big minutes and run PP1 in Hartford.

Happy to hear about Jones/Schneider. Glad Robertson is looking more comfortable as well. A full year in the A will benefit him greatly.
I like skinner a lot too, but he’s 2-3 years away from becoming a legit NHL 3rd pair guy.
Also happy that Barron continues to generate chances and he’s using his size to his advantage. This kid is ready now imo. Hopefully If chytil is out long term, Barron gets a good long look on the Rangers with some decent line mates.
Really hope Pajunemi can put on some size and get better on his skates. He could be a legit find. Again, he’s probably at least 2 years off imo.
It nice having legit good prospects in Hartford for a change. Usually there’s only 1-2 guys we all keep an eye on. This year there’s definitely more talent there.
How has Justin Richards been playing??
He didn’t look too far off from 4th line duty in his cup of coffee last year...

also happy to hear Gettinger has been more physical and scoring some. That was the biggest knock against him. Has the size and tools, but it didn’t translate to the NHL. Maybe he’s finally figured it out.
Between Gettinger/Barron/Grubbe/Cuylle/Berard/Vierling/Edstrom/Richards/Lamb/Korzak etc if half those guys hit their ceilings, we’ll be in solid shape with cheap bottom 6 talent. Maybe 1-2 guys that can even play higher in the line up.
Othmann s play in Flint has also been encouraging. I’m glad he’s putting up points, and by all accounts has been one of the teams top overall players.
Also happy Huska and kinkaid can show people what they can do with a real defense in front of them. I’m not very high on wall, but I’m glad he got the W.

I too have to hold myself accountable. In 1991, I and 2 friends drank a 12 pack each, put the empty boxes on our heads, removed our clothing, and streaked a sorority pledge event. I am mortified that I subjected unwilling participants to my swinging junk and can’t imagine the emotional trauma I may have caused them. Always believe streaking victims!
