so maybe the reason Othmann was recalled is that Edstrom is hurt, out week to week with an upper body injury.

Nash still out week to week.

Sykora back with team but not in lineup tonight.

Anisimov in tonight for first time since April 11/2009.

Garand starts tonight. Same defense.
When did Edstrom get hurt, in practice? He was with the Rangers the last games the Pack played.

That goal was the winner. Artie was the #1 star. Nice for him.
Artie last played for Hartford on April 9, 2009. Good on him for getting the game winner. But he's standing on the goal line and throws the puck at the net. That's probably a 1-1000 chance of success.

With Brodzinski and Nash not available and Hallowell slowing down and now Edstrom and Othmann not available the offense has slowed down. The centers last night were Leschyschen, Anisimov, Henriksson, and Korczak. Yikes. I think Anisimov was a desperation signing.

From Luke Fox of Sportsnet on Toronto's options for finding a goalie:

Perhaps the best low-risk, low-investment option I heard is Louis Domingue.

The 31-year-old career backup was stellar this season in his one appearance for the New York Rangers, who are set with Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick.

Domingue makes just $775,000 on an expiring deal and has been solid for AHL Hartford (8-2-2, .911).

Of course, the Rangers have Stanley Cup aspirations. They, too, are aware of the importance of goalie depth and won't be in any rush to do a conference rival any favours.

The last paragraph is the key!

Hartford with a big win over Hershey tonight, 5-3. Sykora with an assist, Berard a goal.

Hershey has been the best team in the league this year. With the loss, they are now 28-7-0-0. Hartford is still 15 points back, but they have 5 games in hand. Probably not going to catch them, but we are firmly in 2nd place, 1 point up on Providence with 4 games in hand.

Tonight my son and I were supposed to drive up to Hershey to see the Wolfpack-Bears game. We first started doing this in I think the 2013-2014 season. Unfortunately there was a big snow storm north of Washington DC including Hershey so we decided not to go but instead watch on our big screen TV. Hartford wins 5-3. Here are my thoughts.

Goalie: Domingue was solid in net. No bad goals.

Defense: Sometime in the 2nd period the Pack went with 5 defensemen with Hillman out. I don't know if he was hurt but he was playing poorly and the coaches might have sat him down. Hillman did come back later. Robertson had a solid game, maybe the best game I've ever seen him play. Strong on defense, no bad passes and a nice shot on his goal. Tonight's Robertson might be an NHL player. Brandon Scanlin was a beast on defense for 58 minutes including blocking a shot that the Bears had on a wide open net. I say 58 minutes because he took an unnecessary cross checking penalty with two minutes to go. The Bears pull the goalie so it's 6 against 4. Fortunately Lescheschyn gets the puck on a lucky bounce and scores an empty netter. To me Scanlin is Ryan Graves. I hope the Rangers don't make the same mistake the team with Scanlin that it made on Graves.

Offense: Brett Barard was the most impactful prospect forward by a large margin. Not only hustles but has some offensive skill including a good shot on his goal. I'm thinking Carl Hagelin. Anisimov had no noticeable impact. Trivigno made just a great play to set up Mackey's goal. I hope the replay shows the 30 seconds before the goal. Sykora hustles but has little impact if the forecheck doesn't work. The team really is hurting at center with Brodzinksi and Nash not available.

Hartford broke Hershey's nine game winning streak. This was the team's best effort in maybe the last ten games.

Also thought Robertson had his best AHL game to date. 3 solid games in his last 4.
Robertson showed good instincts throughout.
1st period there was a Bear player trying to go wide on him and instead of trailing him or stick-checking, Matt just push the Hershey forward into the boards and took the puck. In later periods he was impressive with his puck carrying and decisions in the O-Zone.

Short lived praise. Sykora had a neutral zone turn over and instead of Robertson challenging the puck carrier he backed in waiving his stick. Wilkes-Barre Scranton player scored on Garand.
Penguins 1-0 at the end of 1, all Wilkes Barre/Scranton. Only offense generated by the Pack was a short-handed chance by Berard.
Homer Refs. Calling every ticky-tacky infraction on Hartford and letting the Penguins infractions go uncalled.
Spotted a Ranger fan in the crowd wearing a # 22 New York Ranger third jersey with the large shield.

Robertson is doing what he did last season where he kind of sucked coming out of the gates and then picked it up in the middle of the year.

Final, 2-1 Penguins.
Outplayed throughout.
Scanlin with the lone Wolf Pack goal.
Official’s must know the quickest path to the NHL is to take care of the Penguins.

Per ahl app being outshot 8-22

Attrition of roster is maybe catching up to them
But they've had comebacks all season
Attrition at defense (Emberson, Harpur maybe even Berzola) and at center (Brodzinski and Nash) has hurt the team. And this weekend without Othmann and Edstrom on the wings.

Nash and Berzola still out week to week with lower body injury. Edstrom out week to week with upper body injury.

Gabriel in for Hillman who is healthy scratch. All twelve available forwards are playing with Blidh recalled to the Rangers.
