Pack win in OT on a goal by Lesch.
This game went into O.T. because of terrible officiating.
0-0 for most of the game and Blidh scored with less than 2 minutes to go in the third. Pack up 1-0.
Then with under 30 seconds left, Leschyshyn gets blatantly hooked in the defensive zone while attempting to go out and clear the puck from the zone. No call, Toronto scores.
In O.T., Leschyshyn scores. Pack 2-1 over Toronto. Highlights:

With yesterday's win the Pack's magic number is now 8. The team is one point behind Lehigh Valley and three points ahead of Bridgeport with those teams having a game in hand.

The Pack have Bridgeport and Providence this weekend and last place Wilkes Barre and Springfield next weekend.
Bridgeport has Hartford and Wilkes Barre this weekend, Lehigh Valley next Wednesday, and finish next week with Hershey and Providence.
Lehigh Valley has Charlotte and Springfield this weekend, next Wednesday's match with Bridgeport and finish next weekend with Wilkes Barre and Springfield.

Providence and Hershey are the top two teams in the division. The Pack play these teams once, Bridgeport plays them twice and Lehigh Valley does not play either.

Last night Trivigno in for Edstrom. Other kids remain stapled to the bench, likely until playoff situation is resolved.

Earlier in the season I thought Scanlin was maybe outplaying Robertson, but I think Robertson has elevated his game the last month or two.

I also really like Emberson. He's a righty, I know, but he's good up and down the ice.
I largely agree with nyr2k2 and cwede.

I thought Scanlin had a strong first half of the year. Not only was his defense strong but he was starting to become more involved in bringing the puck out of the defensive zone. Sometime around the mid point of the season I think his game began to slide. It's possible he hit the rookie wall playing more games than in a college season. Or maybe he had a nagging injury although he was reported to be a healthy scratch. The coaches sat him for about 8 of ten games and he only got in with Robertson being hurt. Since he's been back I've started to see the same guy I saw during the first half of the year. In addition, with only two right handed defensemen, the team was playing Jones on the right side. With Scanlin back in he can play the right side and Jones shifted back to the left side. Scanlin now playing with Hajek.

Robertson did not have a good first half of the season. I think he tried to do too much offensively and he was being caught out of position. He was given a chance to run the PP and it was not good. He also was paired with Welinski who was a disappointment. Robertson's play improved as he began to keep his game simple and was moved away from Welinski to play with Emberson.

I think these two are relatively close and I wouldn't choose between them. Robertson is a better skater, Scanlin maybe a little more physical and a little better offensively. Scanlin also can play either side. Both are pretty good prospects.

Boyko season over.
Likely joins Pack soon, but like other young late arrivals, not play much
... but they can take another tall-guys photo, with him by Rempe and Edstrom

3-1 Hartford, end of 1st period. Goals: Clendening, Lockwood and Henriksson.
Someone mentioned this earlier that Blidh could be a call the playoffs if they needed a forward and I can see that. He’s relentless and great in the corners and along the boards. Would fit right in on the Rangers 4th line.

Pack up 3-1 after 1, outshooting Bridgeport 21-7.
Seems like things are falling into place, finally. Not that it’s a formula for sustained success but they’ve pulled out all the stops this year. It’s progress.

If the Pack win in regulation tonight they'll be 5 points ahead of Bridgeport for the last playoff spot with 3 games left.....4 games left for Bridgeport. That would be very difficult for the Islanders farm team to make up with the season nearing its end. It is a really important game for both teams.

Things seem to be gelling for the Wolfpack right now. Lines and defense coming together finally. Winning a lot more than they're losing.

Lehigh Valley 1-1 with Charlotte in the 1st. LV loss in regulation and Pack win, Pack will be ahead of them by 1 point, though LV will have a game in hand.

would have loved to see him get a game in or two and rest Goodrow/Motte or even Vesey but of course we can't right?

Right. Can’t fit the salary without sending someone - presumably harpur- down via waivers and the rangers don’t want to risk it. I’m sure a troll organization like Ottawa or Washington would grab harpur.

If Hartford can close it out, they're be 5 up on Bridgeport with 3 games left; Bridgeport has a game in hand. Regardless of the game in hand, Hartford would really be in the driver's seat.

Unfortunately Lehigh Valley is also winning. They'd maintain their single point advantage over Hartford but they, like Bridgeport, have a game in hand.

There's really not much difference between finishing fifth or sixth for Hartford. If they finish sixth, they open with Springfield. If they manage fifth, they open with Charlotte. Those two teams currently have identical records and that could flip. Or Lehigh Valley could pass one of those two. And then if they move on, they'd face either Providence or Hershey, who also have basically identical records. So at this point it's really just a matter of making sure you get in, since the road ahead is really not much different if you're the 5 or the 6.

how bout lockwood? seems to be producing pretty well, heard he's a legit burner who sounded like he might be a decent 4th line forechecking menace similar to motte.

pajuniemi is a guy i always wanted to see get at least a look for a couple games in a top 6 nhl role when we had a need, looks quick enough and scores goals. stats aren't crazy the but the little i've seen of him i think he might do better in the nhl with its structure. ahl always looks like beehive hockey with a lot of chaos, harder for guys who like to look for soft areas in the ozone off the puck to be as effective.

Dominating performance by the Pack. Pack outshoot Bridgeport 36-24. Everyone played well. Multiple point games for Clendening, Lockwood, Henriksson, Fritz, and Brodzinski. Only minus players were Jones and Emberson who were on for both Islander goals. Carpenter with his 20th goal. Robertson still out week to week. Same lineup with Trivigno in at fourth line wing.

Lehigh Valley wins but Springfield and Charlotte lose. Current standings:

3. Springfield 80 points with 77 games played
4. Charlotte 80 points with 78 games played
5. Lehigh Valley 78 points with 78 games played
6. Hartford 77 points with 79 games played
7. Bridgeport 72 points with 78 games played.

Magic number for Pack is for. If they win tomorrow night and Bridgeport loses they clinch a playoff spot.

Remaining games this weekend

Springfield plays Lehigh Valley
Charlotte plays Hershey
Lehigh Valley plays Springfield
Pack play Providence
Bridgeport plays last place Wilkes Barre

Brandon Scanlin leads the team in +/- at 18, Emberson at 16, Jones at 15 with Pajuniemi the top forward at 12.
Fritz leads team in assists with 33. I think the Pack bring him back.
Brodziński scoring at PPG with Carpenter just below the PPG. Lockwood 12 points in 14 games and Blidh 10 points in 14 with Pack but their season totals are less impressive.
Cuylle leads in goals with 25, Brodzinski at 22, Carpenter at 20, Pajuniemi at 19.
