Holland had 23 games with the rangers last year with 4 points to show for it. He is a former first round pick and 27 years old. He is a very good ahl player but a bottom line nhler. Unless the rangers need a body I don’t think holland has much of a future with the rangers.
Holland should definitely get a cuppa as well. Anyone know if he has been a good soldier down on the farm? Does he wear a letter?

Can't be worse than what Howden is doing right now. I think Howden would do well with some time in the AHL at this point.

I expect Boo will get called back up for sure.

Lindgren's status may depend on Pionk's availability.

I’m surprised they didn’t send down Howden too. Not that he needs to play more. But some confidence-building wouldn’t hurt. But i assume the team has his pulse better than i do :)

I was thinking about that earlier, and while I do think it might do him good, he’s been on the NHL roster all year and he’s earned his week off. Hopefully he comes back refreshed

He definitely deserves the week off after the grind of his first NHL season.

I'm all for Howden getting the week off, to get a rest, but I also have been in favor of him taking a trip to Hartford for weeks now. He has been woefully ineffective for a couple months. Push Boo up, give Peter Holland a chance to showcase himself, give Lias some games, etc. I think Howden would benefit from a demotion. I see him fall down 2-3 times per game where I initially think it's a penalty and then on replay I see he just fell. I think he's over-thinking things and his feet can't keep up; he needs to slow it down and let the game come to him.

But, the organization seems committed to him working through it in the NHL. And other than maybe him and Lias, I can't really question how the organization has managed their guys. So, we'll see.

Howden's hit that rookie wall pretty hard. Guy needs to score a goal, he's shooting less, and playing more on the perimeter. I'm more than okay with his defensive game, blocking shots, and winning draws and all... but I think you risk turning him into a 4th liner if he caps himself where he is. Howden has more to offer, just needs a confidence boost.

jeebus... what a lame 1st period, down 2-0 vs. the P-Bruins. No energy, no flow, no coordination... playing like they've mailed it in. Hajek look brutal on the first P-Bruin goal... all those pumping his tires relentlessy, maybe pay closer attention. He is good, but still raw and needs to take an extra step or two in the AHL. The coach even took a time-out after the second P-Bruins goal... guess he saw what we saw, and that wasn't good.

I don't think anyone has pumped Hajek's tires in quite a while. It's a little disappointing honestly, but too soon to read into it

True. This year I must have watched more Pack games than NYR (a first!) and I really pay more attention to the individuals... puts a number of prospect rankings in the www to shame.

FIRST PERIOD

Holland takes the initial draw. Mess on his right, Beleskey on the left. Bigras and OG on the blue line. Tokarsky in the net.

Lindgren tries to hip check an opponent, but bounces off him. Later loses his stick, but still clears the puck.

Butler with a good rush.

Lindgren on the first PK unit. Clears the puck.

Hajek clears on the PK.

Day with a good defensive play. Used his body and stick well.

Vinni with a really good forechecking defensive play.

Hajek with a hit that causes a turnover (in favor of the Pack).

Day with good defense when a guy tried to go around him, but as the puck moved away from him, just stopped skating.

Lindgren looks more confident since he returned from the NHL.

SCORE: Hajek fumbles the puck in his feet near Tokarsky, our old friend Carey steals it and it's 1-0.

SCORE: Gilmour needs to be permanently banned from hockey for this play. He skates from behind his own net straight into two opponents and not even looking up. Easy turnover, pass, score. The coach has to hold him responsible for this. Such a play is unacceptable even at midget level.

Pack call TO.

Mess has NHLness to his game: good small plays, ability to recover from a mistake to fix it.

Gettinger is visible again.

Lias stickhandles well on a play.

Nobody is sure why Lindgren got a penalty.

OG with a great stick play to prevent a 2 on 1.

Tokarsky's positioning is just wild. He's so all over the place. Not just this game, every game.

Day looks better.

Brick looks ok, but undressed defensively on one play. Schneider was a better player to me.
