Whst do you think happened to Meskanen? 1 point in his last 9 games and a minus 7.

He had a great month and a half then disappeared.

Revolving door of linemates on a dysfunctional team along with him never playing this many games (i don't think, too lazy to fact check) in a season.

How have some of the new players the Rangers added at the deadline been doing for the Pack?
I think Halverson has played himself into getting resigned to a 1 or 2 year deal.

One year deal maybe. The Rangers will still control him after the one year anyway and that gives us more options as far as free agents and whether or not Wall gets signed too. Anyway I don't think we want this guy getting too comfortable--he's playing for his life now and doing okay.

2-2 after 2. A deflection and a PP snipe against, Huska has looked aight. Sean Day got boarded late 1st and looked really groggy but back out for the 2nd, not sure about that but i’m No doctor.

Lettieri 2 goals, Gilmour 2 assists

Excellent first period, decent second then they lost the plot in the third, 5-3 loss.

Lettieri hattrick, Gilmour 3 assists. Hope Day is okay.

Lettieri has 50 shots in his last 10 games, damn he loves to shoot!

I'm all for giving him another callup before the season is over. He keeps going back and not pouting and putting out 110% efforts, one of the few bright spots on the Pack all year.

Give him a call up and give him some real minutes, not the 4th line. He's offensive player and needs to be played in that role.

Last couple games the Rangers might give some Pack players a game or two. They did that last year in the final game calling up Fogarty and Beleskey.

Gilmour's small and not good defensively but has 18 goals and 48 points. He is the offensive catalyst of the team and he will probably get another NHL shot somewhere. Fogarty and Lettieri are the other two most consistent offensive threats. Lettieri's a couple years younger and can still be considered a prospect. He's also the shooter and goal scorer. If he could do that in the NHL is the issue.

IIRC, his injury was a concussion and he reportedly hasn't looked the same since coming back. Remember how long it took Zbad to get his groove back after coming back from his concussion?

Article says Gilmour should be called up now -

New York Rangers: John Gilmour deserves a shot with the big boys

He should have been called up a while ago - why not, see if he can stick. He really has nothing left to prove in the AHL, and the Rangers aren't going anywhere this year. He could be part of the future in NY. If not, he's sure to get the chance somewhere else....

I like how this random guy says the Rangers should "look no further than Hartford for their next call-up," as if they'd be calling up a guy from somewhere else.

Anyway, I think Gilmour sucks. He can certainly sling that biscuit around, but I have an impossible time seeing him playing decent defense at the NHL level. The fact that the Rangers prioritized Lindgren and Hajek as the recalls over Gilmour, who is having a great year statistically and theoretically help the anemic offense, I think is telling. I think it means they don't see him as part of the future of the Rangers, and as such, wanted to check out the guys they considered real NHL prospects first. There's still time for him, I suppose, but he's close to turning 26 and he needs to find an NHL home soon. I don't think it's here.

It's funny cause it's true hahaha.

The odd thing about Gilmour's stint up here last year was that he was actually considerably better than Pionk in the d-zone, but as soon as he'd get across centre with the puck he was practically a non-factor. He was quite good at gaining possession of the puck on the boards, and exceptionally good at skating it to safety, and got little to no credit for it; and he was quite bad at creating anything offensively, and had expectations of points placed on him at that end.

I haven't watched any Hartford games this year, but I have a very difficult time envisioning Gilmour as an offensive d-man. His skating, while obscene, won't lead to as many opportunities in the NHL as it does in the AHL.

I want him to get another look, but not as a guy who's expected to produce points. If he can avoid being a liability without the puck defensively, then his skillset should be a huge asset for our transition game.

If Gilmour is a part of the future in NY, then Gorton has done a crappy job rebuilding the defense.

Agreed.

The same could be said of Pionk as well though, and we keep marching him out there. Best case, we drive Gilmour's value up to a mid-round pick; worst case... we don't?

Thing is, I'm sure by now every team has seen plenty of him. Pro scouts have either seen him with the Rangers last year or in Hartford. Particularly this year, with his gaudy point totals and All-Star designation, I'm sure everyone has watched him. If there was a team interested in him, I'm pretty sure the Rangers would have no qualms in moving him (given his impending UFA status) had someone inquired. They could have conceivably even tried to move him. But again, he's Group 6 after the season, so we'd have to re-sign him and go through this whole song and dance again. I think the writing is on the wall and he'll be somewhere else next year (be it here or overseas).
