Greg Chase just named as ECHL Player of the Month

What a mid-season trade pickup Chase has turned out to be. I don't think Maine has five players from their opening night roster still on the team, and their 3rd through 9th leading scorers are no longer on the roster. The Mariners front office has done a good job finding players, especially when you consider they are an expansion team and had to start from scratch.

that was brought in from Reading's philosophy as well

Sean Day has been really good lately as he got a bigger role for Wolf Pack, so happy he's running with it. He had a VERY limited role in his first stint Before he was sent down to Maine, found his confidence down there and then has starter to play more and more of "his" game as he's gotten comfortable in the AHL and probably feeling the backing of the coach.

Good on Day. Hope he proves a lot of you posters right. I wasn’t ever big on Day but they would be awesome if he could become a solid 3rd pair defenseman.

Every time I prepare myself to give up on Sean Day he just improved immediately and begins playing like a legit NHL prospect again. I would love for him to eventually earn a few games in the NHL.

I missed this move. Does Wesley still belong to Carolina after the season ends? He was a 4th round pick and is the son of Glen Wesley who played over 1600 NHL games.

He's an RFA after the year. Given he has primarily been an ECHL player and is getting loaned to affiliates of other organizations it would seem a good bet that he does not receive a QO.

Carolina was probably very stacked with prospects.

A 50/50 bet at best. He went to ECHL because of the Rangers AHL depth on defense and to get Day’s confidence back. He mentioned it himself in a recent interview. He did well there and now is taking advantage of a more prominent role in Hartford. He’s developing and don’t think the Rangers are ready to give up him.

I was referring to the kid Josh Wesley that was apparently loaned to the Pack. He's an ECHLer. It was a post from WeNeverGetAGoodCoach, so you probably can't see it (like I normally can't, LOL). :)

Guilty as charged. I was following Day’s discussion. And did miss RFA reference that didn’t make sense in that context.

Gilmour from Fogarty in OT for the win. Halverson stopped 36/38.

Fogarty has as many points this season (41) as he did in his previous 133 AHL games combined--every game prior to this season.

Fogarty's turned into a really really good AHL player. I didn't even think he did too badly when he was up with us earlier. A little bit of luck and he could have had 2 or 3 points. I was glad we re-signed him.

Sean Day has been really good lately as he got a bigger role for Wolf Pack, so happy he's running with it.

He's let players blow past him every game, including at least 3 times yesterday. Hes been better and actually had the presence of mind to get back to help kill a breakaway, but hes still ways away from where we'd need him to be to reach a real prospect status.

Let's see what happens next year, maybe hes a late bloomer.

More exciting is the emergence of Gropp. Hes on the first line in Hartford (with Fogarty and Lettieri) and deserves to be there. Not bad for someone who looked like a career ECHLer in October.

Whatever you say buddy

But yes, said it last week on Twitter, Gropp has actually been surprisingly good in the AHL this season, especially after his short stint in Maine.

How have some of the new players the Rangers added at the deadline been doing for the Pack?

I think Halverson has played himself into getting resigned to a 1 or 2 year deal.
