I'm sure it wasn't easy for Lias to accept the news that for the second straight year he was gonna be playing in the AHL but he has taken it in stride and done very well to say the least. Definitely good signs for his development.

Currently tied for eighth in scoring. The only prospects ahead of him are Pilut and Olofsson, though they're both a couple years older. Also, Drake Batherson, who is six months older.

Andersson is so much better than Chytil right now it's sad. Quinn needs to drop his ego and call him up. Andersson has an edge and Quinn seems to have a problem with it because he seems to have the same personality. Andersson can help this team big time.

The Rangers don't have a spot for Andersson.

“Obviously the first night was tough. But when I got down here, I was actually very happy to see all the guys again,” Andersson told The Post this past weekend up in Hartford. “Everything is great down here. I actually like it a lot. This is my home now and this is the team I represent. So just have to do everything I can every day to win games. I don’t focus too much about the Rangers right now. I just want to play good in Hartford.”

“Lias has been real good,” Hartford coach Keith McCambridge said. “All the things that he needed to work on, those are the things that we’ve watched on video, addressed during games and made them a focal point in practice. But also the strengths of his game we continue to work on — being strong on pucks, taking pucks to the net, being good in his own zone, strong on face-offs. All areas that make him a real high-quality young prospect, we continue to build off.”

There might be a time when Andersson is the natural call-up, say if an injury hits, or when some more sell-off comes nearing the Feb. 25 trade deadline — especially with Hayes being an attractive rental piece.

“I think the answer is we’re just taking it day-by-day,” Drury said. “We know where he wants to be; we know where every young kid wants to be. So we’re watching him every single day, whether it’s practice or games, trying to help him in any way we can to be the best player he can be as quick as he can be. Hopefully that will come sooner than later.”

See you in February when the Rangers finally decide to move Hayes.

You make spots for young players who are producing in the AHL. This supposed to be a rebuild. Not a vet holding place until the trade deadline. Spooner and Buchnevich are both lousy. Hopefully, Gorton will package Buchnevich with a Smith or Staal with some salary retained to open up not only a spot for Lias but Hajek as well.

Maybe it’s just me, but once this team *hopefully* comes together with all of these fancy new pieces, Lias on that PP1 and honestly just in general is going to be so great at opening up space for the more talented guys (flash-wise at least). Watch him grow more once surrounded with big time talent. Maybe it’s been mentioned recently - I can’t recall, but does anyone else feel like he and Panarin would make a truly dirty 2/3 of a line? Maybe with Kravs? Holy f*** I am excited for the future. I am just eating this lost season. It will be our time soon.

We have very good young promising centers - Ziba, Hayes, Howden, Lias, Chytil ... and solid depth Spooner, Names, Boo.. Hayes and Spooner or Names will be traded in February...
What if we win the draft lotery - do we need another center Jack Hughes as a potential franchise player or will be
better for us to draft scoring wings as a Kaapo Kakko, Vasily Podkolzin or Matthew Boldy?

Agree...

Kreider - Ziba - Zucc
Panarin - Lias - Kravtsov
Chytil - Howden - Buch

It means Hayes, Names, Spooner, Vesey must be traded..

Hell of a message being sent by Lias. He just needs to keep playing his mind set is spot on. Just don’t worry about the rangers keep dominating and improving at Hartford.

The comments about mittelstadt would be like bashing Chytil right now. Dumb. Young kids BOTH should be in the minors. BOTH supremely skilled. Chytil would be dominating in Hartford like he did last year if he was there which is where he should be.

I’m hoping Chytil goes to join him now that they’re home. Get his confidence. Look what the devils did with Zacha. Rushed him and he’s a mess now. I’m concerned we are pushing Chytil when he’s not ready.

My comment about Mittelstadt wasn't a serious criticism of him. It's just meant to poke fun at the many people who were livid we passed on a future superstar for some slug 2/3C who was also a reach. It was a joke then and a joke now. I like Mittelstadt and think he'll be a fine player, but watching both he and Andersson extensively last year I don't think there's a whole lot of difference between the two in terms of overall value if they hit their upside. One guy might score a little more but the other plays the all-around game.

Again, just having some fun.

There really isn't room for another center on the NHL roster right now. You could switch Andersson and Chytl and hopefully Filip gets a little traction i the AHL by the time you move Hayes.
In the long run I would still draft a center if that was the best player available, especially if it's Hughes. Later on if you need to trade a center to get a winger that's easier than the other way around.

This. It's all because of the people bitching and moaning for months after the draft.

Lias is going to be low maintenance--a guy focused on winning and improving himself. Gritty. Kind of maybe like a young Chris Drury or a Jonathan Toews.

We don't have to rush him though.

As for Hajek---he's our best D prospect in Hartford. I think he belongs there for now though. He needs at least a half and maybe a full year in the AHL.
