It could be due to a professional friendship. Eric Lindros with Keith Acton, Brad Marsh and Pelle Lindbergh, Mark Howe praised Glen Cochrane almost as much as any teammate he had over the years.I'm saddened that our rookie had to be around players like Dale Weise and has such an assessment. There are so many more talented players he should have been spending time playing with.
How exactly do you move in talent without moving out scrubs?

Remember how good Ryan White was for the Flyers on the PK? They let him walk, and granted he is out of the league now, Hextall actually thought they could replace that kind of gritty player with Dale Weise. Hated letting White walk, hated the Weise signing even more. Good riddance ya thief.
Yeah, I don't remember White ever being a good player for us either. He was one of the few players I really wanted off the team.White's last season here was awful, worst than anything Weise did here.
Weise got paid the normal rate for FA bottom six types, look at last summer's pay rates.
Which is why you want to avoid FA for filling those spots, keep kids in the AHL for 2-3 years and develop them into useful bottom 6 players.
Which is what good teams do, so the players are ready to contribute immediately when they come up.
Prospects who have bottom six talent need time to refine their game to compensate for an average skill package.
Either way, regardless of how we remember his play, he was more influential on our 4th line than Weise ever has been. He won more than half his faceoffs, scored a few timely goals, and dropped the gloves when necessary. Sure, you let him walk, but you dont sign a lesser player to fill his role.White's last season here was awful, worst than anything Weise did here.

I do wonder what made Weise such a good teammate.

Ryan Whites role was to be a 4th line energy player. He was signed to 2 contracts like that.
Dale Weise was signed to bring scoring to our stagnant B6 along with size and grit to a team that didn’t have much then.
Also, Weise has time on the 2nd line, a lot on the 3rd, and a decent amount of his time here on the 4th. Ryan White was only on the 4th (may have been moved up one time idk).
Ryan White has a much much better career in a Flyers sweater than Weise has. White actually did well in his role.
