Oh man, I can't wait to see how many times people use the term 'residual sensitivity' now. :biglaugh:

I wonder what the high-level official Ron MacLean will have to say this weekend. I expect another character assassination. How many times will he replay Hansen crosschecking the ref in the SJ game?

I'm impressed he admitted it's a factor. It's obvious the NHL just makes it up as it goes along. There's no such thing as consistency or precedent.

A lot of the responsibility for that rests with the players themselves. They have historically been opposed to meaningful suspensions. The reality is that if the players wanted guys like Cooke out of the game, he'd be out of the game, immediately.

I don't blame Yzerman for not wanting to speak with honeybadger face to face:sarcasm:

Correct me if I'm wrong, a phone call as opposed to face to face meeting with the banmaster usually indicates the severity from their point of view . So I suspect a fine if anything at all.

Maybe a fine, but I don't see how that was, in any way, intentional. And no thread on the main NHL boards on HF = no suspension. :sarcasm:

I think it was a farce there was a penalty called on it, let alone a freaking phone call. I hope Hossa was ok, but there is no way to prove anything beyond accidental contact. I've avoided coming on HF until now because I didn't want a bunch of Blackhawks fans comparing this and the Keith elbow and getting me all pissy and trolly. Rome versus Boychuck...if there's a suspension here, I call for all my fellow Canuck fans to grab their tinfoil hats and join me in calling conspiracy.

But, but mr toews said he could tell there was clear intent on Hansens part! It was obvious to him he wasn't going for the puck!
What a whiny little *****! I would be ashamed to have him as the captain of the team I cheer for!
I agree with cogburn, it was a hockey play, plain and simple, both going for the puck, hossa backed into Hansen and they collided. If there is a suspension for this, I will lose all faith in the NHL.

I think the play was a bit reckless and deserved a penalty at the time, but the refs calling one way after the play happened when Hossa was on the ice and Toews was complaining to the refs. Pretty bush league by the refs, wasn't the only rookie mistake they made that game

I'm thinking Hansen's soft voice over the phone will convince Shanahan not to punish him.

hmm.. and they called keith's hit on daniel an accident? Show me a clip that demonstrated intent. If anything, Hansen seems to have a one tract mind, his focus was on the puck, not hossa. same goes for the time when he was focused on getting clowe and shoved the ref in the process without even knowing that he did. If he were to get a suspension or fine, it would be for being careless.

Toews is awesome, I don't care what any of you say. Much like Kesler, Perry, etc. they are terrible losers and will do anything for a competitive edge. I would gladly take Toews on my team. Come to think of it, I would gladly take nearly any of the current Hawks on the Canucks.

Will be disappointed if Hansen gets anything more than a fine and a warning to be a little more controlled. Wouldn't be surprised if he got a game because the NHL seems to just do whatever it feels like on any given play.

Still can't believe Hossa got injured on such an innocuous play. If it's any other player on the Hawks, I doubt it's anything.

i love how the hawks are whining when our whole rivalry started with them jumping our entire team a few years ago. live by the sword, die by the sword. and i hope wth all of me that the canucks want to start playing a cheap viscious game, that is playoff hockey and it has been a LOOOOOONNNGGG time coming

Seriously, this should be discussed more. He shouldn't have been playing if that's all it takes to knock him out.

Being an awesome hockey player doesn't excuse you for being a ***** off the ice. I understand he's pressed that his teammate it hurt, but it doesn't make it okay for him going about spewing ********.
