You know buch is outscoring Demidov right? I still give the edge to demidov because he’s younger and a bigger player, but saying it’s champagne compared to seven up just shows you guys need to up your knowledge on prospects that aren’t just habs centered.
I think that's a fine comparison for those 2 players. Buchelnikov is a fantastic prospect, but he's clearly a few tiers below Demidov.

Even with size and age taken out of the picture there's a clear separation talent wise. Buchelnikov is 2nd for TOI/game among all forwards on Vityaz, presumably getting top unit powerplay time and he's tied for 21st for +/- on the team.

On SKA, Demdiov is 12th for TOI/game among forwards, gets virtually no powerplay time and is leading SKA in +/- and tied for 3rd in the league. He leads the league in points/60 by a significant margin, if SKA hadn't hard balled him for refusing to extend then I think there's a very good chance he'd be leading the league in points at 19 years old.

Listen don’t be salty because I value the complete package. Hutson will always score a lot of points, but he will never be a huge hitter, or shot blocker, or some one you can have clear the crease, and who knows if he even will develop to be a good defender? Again, Hutson is very very tiny. Not just in height but muscle too, we will see if he’s a unicorn in that aspect but I doubt it. He will have to put on serious mass for his long term health.

Buchnelikov has more points than demidov this season on a worse team in the KHL, demidov is 2 years younger, so I’ll still give demidov the edge, but buchnelikov is that good. I wish he’d put on more weight though.

the reality is most people just don’t pay attention or know red wings prospects. Trey Augustine and Sebastian Cossa are the best goalie prospect tandom in a long time but you just … never hear about it. Both absolute blue chip prospects.

I think the habs have the edge in forward (though they do have to get that center situation figured out) and the red wings have an edge in defense and goaltending. We will see which one provides a more fruitful rebuild.
I’ve read the thread and enjoy your posts.

I’m obviously a Habs fan and biaised but I find your take a bit strange as a Wings fan as you were able to witness one of the greatest defender of all time that didn’t do all these things…stick work is more important for elite players.

Hutson already found a way as a rookie. Nothing indicates he’ll loose his IQ. To make it clear…no I am not comparing Hutson to Nik Lindstrom but complete package is so rare. Elite is elite.

Your Hutson comments show that you haven't watched much of him. He will threaten for Norris trophies. He is that good.

After playing 44 games in the NHL: "He will threaten for Norris trophies". :skeptic:

Jesus. Just saying their names in the same sentence seems wrong and sinful.

Watch him play and you will concur. We said McDavid would win for Harts when he was still playing in Erie.

Yes....Hutson is not the defensive equivalent of Connor, but he will threaten for Norris trophies. Again.....watch him play beyond any highlights or just when the Habs play your team.

Their pts/60 is not even close because Demidov is clearly the superior players and it's by a landside.

as a Red Wings fan, I don't like the way both teams are structured going forward. you build a good team with D and goalies but you win Cups with dominating centers.

San Jose with just Celebrini and Smith down the middle will be way more successful in the coming 10 years .

I never said he was having a subpar 44 games so far to start his NHL career. I'm saying I don't see him as the real deal long term..., but rather he is having an unsustainably hot start.

My opinion has triggered many on Montreal. Like kicking a bee hive because I don't have special rose colored glasses that allow me to see it.

Right now, I’d give Detroit the slight edge. I feel they have the clearly superior defense grouping and higher upside goalies while the Habs have a better group of forwards. Having a clear-cut upper tier 1D in Seider and what is increasingly appearing to be a 1B in Edvinsson are a clear edge.

No need to bookmark it! We all make bold proclamations. I've made a few in this thread alone.

Based on his play thus far (44 games) and his record setting performances throughout his NCAA career -- I will make my educated guess that he is the real deal long term and is having a sustainable hot start. In fact the hotness of his start has only increased. I predict that he will compete for the Norris in his career and possibly win one or two.
