No I don't and why would I? Lines change over the course of a season, so what is clicking is pre-season is always irrelevant to that extent.
And like I said, sustainability is what matter. The offense of this team need to be jump started ASAP and there's literally zero upside in starting the season with one of the team best offensive player on a cold streak. None.

Breaking a line during pre-season is not exactly a sin, since the game don't matter and the change don't have to be permanent.

How do you sell such a decision to Gallagher?

If Chucky would be playing well we wouldn't have this debate right now but he's playing like crap! So give me a break.

Exactly.

Comes down to its to much to ask from AG to get a freaking point in the 5(most of any forward) pre season games he had.

Game 1 he is playing against an ECHL level line up. Put in a goal, get a nice assist and I bet you he is top 6 100% for sure during pre season and in CJ's good graces.

Ok game 1 your getting your legs. How about game 2 or game 3? How about last night when Byron is flying and Shaw is doing his Gretzky imitation? Scherbak was working his butt of how about get a point with the kid and instead of being on the 4th line tonight maybe you are on the 1st line.

But thats to much to ask. Instead we need to ask all the other players on the team to bring their game DOWN because they are making AG look bad by playing better than him. Drouin who is the new hated one should NOT have scored and got assist in his 2 games. What he should of done is realized that it makes AG look bad and not help AG with playing 1C and he should of crapped the bed in his 2 games and went pointless.

But I hope I eat my words. Last game of pre season and then the real stuff begins. Everything negative said about AG over the last 8 games can be wiped out on Oct 4th if he starts playing like the guy who scored 30 not so long ago. Up to him to do it. MT is gone, DD is gone no one left to blame anymore.

Something something judge a fish by his ability to climb trees. Why is the standard on Galchenyuk so high? While everyone else can play with the same teammates? Do you think chemistry and skill matching isn't important? What about confidence, why are we assuming he is some willy vet while Drouin is the spring chicken. They are one year apart ffs.
Why are we giving him tuff love when he has shown to not respond well to that. Some players aren't nails...

LOL what high standard?

To get a point or two in 5 games for an offensive player playing against AHL level competition most of the time is all of a sudden a high standard? To be better than Byron/Shaw/Hudon is a high standard?

If AG was playing well, made things happen on the ice this wouldn't be a discussion and he would be in the top 6. But you are right its to much to ask from the guy to do these things. AG's poor camp is because he played with Danault, oops Danault played with Byron and Shaw last night and no problems. It must be Galley then, oops Galley has 1G and 1A. Lets pull out the old standbyes, its on DD and MT even though they aren't with the team anymore.

There is two options after the camp we saw. Either go full DD and just tie him to Max and play him over other deserving players, or let him live with where he played himself to on the team and hope he turns it around and works his way back up.

How do you suggest we use Drouin then?

Drouin scored 14 points in 17 games in the playoffs on the RW with Filppula as his center.

Galchenyuk scores PPG and 30 goals as a center.

Galchenyuk is a bettter center than Filppula.

This team can't score and can't afford to waste a 30 goal scorer on the 4th line.

You decide what you should do... maybe you'll figure it out.

And what makes him a better center than Filppula ? I'd like your take on that because it's really interesting.

How do you sell such a decision to Gallagher?

How did they sell the decision to move Galchenyuk over to wing in favor of Desharnais when he was PPG? How did you sell it to Galchenyuk that Danault was stealing his spot because he got injured? How do you sell a 5 year veteran that a new kid on the block that hasn't even played a single game with the team stole his position? But all of a sudden we care about Gallagher's "feelings"? Gallagher is a warrior he will play his game anywhere in the lineup to help the team. Galchenyuk is a better player than Gallagher.

I see Clod didn't get Marc's memo that Galchenyuk is a winger. Someone one should tell him to get into the foxhole. :sarcasm:

To me this just adds to the fact that our GM is constantly talking out of his ass.
Yeah I thought the same thing. Gm should have no say as to where a player is used, that's the coache's job.

Sure, but the question pertains to Drouin, not AG.

Drouin is getting time at centre to see if he can be a first line centerman. So far, he as delivered. As of now, should CJ move him around just because Drouin as had success at the wing position? Wouldn't that be weird after two games of good performance at the center of the first line?

Can you stop with this nonsense? Are you watching the games?

Plekanec got 54 points in 15/16 and he got demoted to a lesser role in 16/17 because he was struggling.

There's no logical reason to move Chucky up with the way he's playing. No one cares what he did a year ago it's all about what can you give me now!

No are ruining this poor kids career "Chucky" the kid is best suited for C, the flip flop around and terrible teammates hes been placed with no wonder the kid is confused and underperforming. I hate the catering to the shitty patches hes not a 1st like player hes offers nothing but a shot to the team his ability to carry the puck is non existent and plays like hes 5'6. Hes overvalued and overhyped.

hudon - Gally - Drouin
Patches - Philp - Lek
shaw - plek - gallager

How do you sell such a decision to Gallagher?

The fate of the established players isn't determined in preseason, there's nothing to sell to anyone in this case. Clod already know what Gallagher can do at the NHL level and tonight exhibition game against Ottawa don't change anything to that.

Once again, this is not the time to make experiences, this is the last game before the season opener, this is a game where we need the players to gel.

Galchenyuk has looked good at times this pre-season despite playing with crap.

Danault has looked horrible all pre-season.

Why is Galchenyuk still on his wing?

So if Petry outplays Weber in the preseason, he should move to the top pair? That's what your advocating by saying that historically 3rd/4th line players have a better camp we should ignore the fact that AG has outproduced nearly every forward on this team and put them in a better position to produce offence. It's beyond illogical. Lehkonen and Hudon should not be slotted ahead of this guy, neither should Byron or Shaw. Not if you're team needs offence.

Also, no one is advocating that he has to be tied at the hip to Pacioretty. Saying he should play in the top 6 ahead of grinders because he has a track record of being better than those player's offensively is actually what is best for the team. Or did we forget how amazing this strategy worked out in the playoffs when they got bounced because they couldn't score? Beggars can't be choosers. The GM should have paid more for Radulov if the team wanted this luxury of $5m 4th liners.

I've been wondering why it seems to be written in stone that Danault plays at C. I think he'd be just as effective at wing while taking some of the focus off his lack of offensive creativity.

Whatever RDS have said, I'm sure Hudon and Lehkonen stay at the same position, De La Rose is playing center again, and Galchenyuk LW.

Pacioretty-Drouin-Gallagher
Hudon-Plekanec-Lehkonen
Byron-Danault-Shaw
Galchenyuk-De La Rose-Hemsky/Martinsen

Mete-Weber
Alzner-Petry
Streit-Benn

Well to be fair, MB did say that until further notice, Galchenyuk is a winger. Ladies and gents, tonight may be the further notice.

Even if Galchenyuk centers the 4th line, I'd like to see him make a mark and show the brass that he's a center.

At this point I don't even care if he plays centre or not, but just don't play him with Danault. He and Drouin are the most creative players the team has. Why not at least try them together?

Hey its not like he actually signed a 3rd liner to 4 million for 6 years...oh wait.
