I have a good feeling about Galchenyuk-Danault-Hemsky. I think Hemsky is EXACTLY what Chuck and Danault need.

I just don't think Danault and Galchenyuk work at all together. They seem very incompatible. Like expecting a small business owner to date a socialist.

I'm not against Hemsky with Galchenyuk but I like Plekanec with Chuck a bit more. Plekanec is more seasoned and knows what Alex likes. I also think Lehkonen prefers the left and Alex prefers the right and the two flipping wings when carrying the puck could be a deadly strategy.

We'll see. Maybe Danault and Chuck find their groove. I've seen stranger things.

will these idiots stop dressing a beer league team, or is it still funny playing Timmins' depth garbage and reclamation projects?

Well that's pretty damn close to our opening night lineup minus Price

Last chance.... or he's going to waivers tomorrow or traded.

It sucks because you know somebody will pick him up for sure...Might as well try to trade him for a low draft pick as it's better than losing him for nothing. I think he still has value and could fetch a 4th or 5th round pick.

DLR on the NHL lineup. YUK !

I like DLR on our 4th line and playing him on the PK. He's not ever going to get a lot of points but I think he's valuable for us in a 4th line role and some PK time as the season moves along. If he gets sent down, there is a 50/50 chance he is picked up. Hard to say how other teams value him.

I've seen nothing from DLR that makes me want him on the team.

He's a poor penalty killer who seems like he won't sacrifice his body to block shots. He isn't very physical. Then throw in the fact that he's offensively inept and he doesn't have any significant value to the team, imo of course.

The first 3 losses can be written off due to lineups, tonight though there is little excuse considering this is as close to our regular lineup as it gets

We're missing our best player in Carey Price, but we should definitely see a better performance as a whole tonight.

Matthews and Nylander are wonderful talents, but they are perimeter players. I do believe you need someone to create space for your skill guys, go to the net, and retrieve pucks. We will see it tonight with Gallagher playing with Pac/JD.

The Leafs just don't have a Gallagher.

I believe both aren't perimeter players, but its laughable to call Matthews one, just need to take one look at his shot chart being only around the net to show it. Also think he was top 3 in the NHL on loose puck retrievals, so he definitely doesn't need Hyman to do puck retrieval for him. IMO Marleau would be the best fit on the line, a PWF with speed, but having Hyman on the first line pushes everyone down a line making lines 2-4 better so can't complain too much.

Would anyone be concerned with an 0-8 or 1-7 preseason?

Not me. Winning is always fun, even if it doesn't count.

Think back to 2015-16. 9-0 to start the season and missed the playoffs. It's how you finish that matters.

Leafs fans are like mothers who bring pictures of their newborn babies everywhere and shove it down your throat till you say it's a "pretty little boy/girl". They seek more validation than a teenage girl.

Wonder if there's a Montoya-Lindgren battle.....'Cause Juan Pablo hasn't looked good at all.

In pre-season games, I try to focus on certain players that we don't see as often and those as likely candidates to make the team. The earlier the pre-season games the more it's about "hey, hockey's back". Beyond that, let them lose all they want, who cares. Only interested about winning when games mean something.
