LRT: Viewers outside Mtl/Ott region can get French package on GCL, includes 60 #Habs and 54 #Sens regional games for $59.99 for season.

Dunno what this means

What would be fantastic is if they offered a $60 package for just the RDS games on Centre Ice. I would buy that in a minute

my RDS comes standard with TSN subscription, I don't think I could cancel it without losing TSN.

So I think I'll just stick with XMBC instead of giving more money to Rogers. It is a good deal for out of region Habs fans though, but if I'm going to have to stream off GCL I might as well just use the free service and get English games as well.

wow, on Rogers you have to purchase a channel package called Variete which is 6 channels of **** I will never watch and one channel I love to watch. I thought TSN was basic cable but it's so damn confusing I am not even sure any more.

I still have satellite becuase I purchased the boxes out right and had no desire to upgrade to fibe and have to rent boxes so maybe it's different. All I know is that I went online to remove RDS and it was linked to all the TSN's and a couple other channels in a package, and sportsnets were on another one. Well, all of them except sportsnet world.

It costs more than that to catch the ferry return with vehicle from Vancouver Island to Vancouver, that doesn't include rooms/tickets/food/drinks for one game. So steal for all the Habs/Bulldogs games for Islanders in BC.:handclap::handclap::handclap:

It aint about the cost .anything streamed from the net or a website feed doesnt come close to cable hd.

So you are saying that gcl is just as good as cable hd?

I've never used GCL, so I can't say, but XMBC + Mash Up is just as good as a 720p feed from my local cable provider, if not better. I know cause I had two 52" TVs side by side comparing them.

He's saying there are ways to get up to 4500 kbs streams if you have the hardware and internet to support it. Which, by the way is better than any cable provider can produce to your television.

I knew there was a catch.

I'm very pleased myself. Dropped two channels, added two sportsnets, and it looks like I'm ready to go, with no cost increase. (on videotron)

I'm in the exact same boat basically. Dropped RDS & added Sportsnet One/360. Very pleased overall.

I'm jumping in late here but how is this different than any of the last few years? Before, we had access to RDS and Center Ice. RDS would be available in Quebec and parts of Eastern Ontario, Center Ice / RDS subscription for everyone else. This year there are a certain number of national games on Sportsnet (just like there was on TSN before) and the rest can be viewed outside Quebec on Center Ice (just like last year).

To me it's the same thing unless I'm not getting it. Can someone explain it to me if I'm wrong please?

Sweet. Gonna have to tell my Grandparents about this. They are in a bad position right now, because the RDS games are blacked out this year and they still want to see all 82 games.

This plus all the national channels and they would have them all.

Games on RDS are blacked out outside of the Canadiens broadcasting region this year. Last year, they were national.

I think that if you have a satellite dish like bell, shaw etc, and are getting all the snet stations(east, ont west, pac and one) that you should be ok. there are not going to be blackouts for suscribers of those stations?

So basically it's at best the same as before. Except for Vancouver Canucks fans who couldn't watch any of their games that weren't on TV. We were lucky to have all 82 games before.

I meant in financial terms where it costs $60 as opposed to $180 per year some had to pay before ($15/month for French TV package to get RDS x 12 months).

I've no experience with GCL personally.

Plus, now Westerners can't get the RDS games as they are blacked out, so this means people out here can still see the games.

French GCL package + national channels = 82 games.

A question. Is NHL Centre Ice going to be available on Bell? Or is Rogers blocking it from them?

I am almost certain NHL Center Ice will be available with every major Canadian TV provider, just like it was before. But Rogers hasn't announced any details on NHL CI just yet, so stay tuned.
