Fleury never wanted to play in Montreal, like so many other french stars.
wtf are you talking about? Montreal hasn’t looked for a #1 goalie since Price laced up for his first career game.
I’m actually pretty sure no goalie in the league was interested in coming here to sit on the bench for 15 years.

MSL’s galaxy brain approach to coaching seems like it’ll work any day now. Any… day… now…

HuGoBo’s galaxy brain approach to drafting is already successful. Slafkovsky has played the most games of his draft, that’s success right there! So what if Cooley will outscore him before mid-season? Games played!

First PP, give up two shorties in 25 seconds..................started sleepy for sure.
Game was over right there..............Also Monty? WTF? Awful game..............let's get Primeau in there to get some games.
Allen has zero trade value, Monty barely, so maybe Primeau can play well or fetch us a trade chip.

The PP is so one dimensional that the playbook at defending it has been written a year ago. Time to dump and chase for entries and accethat you don’t have the horses for controlled entries. Suzuki is terrible at entries and should not be an option. Dach was our best entry specialist.

Dump and chase.

Honestly Suzuki could be nursing an injury too. He seems a step behind.
He's at the very least one step behind. Slow as molasses. He's too slow to be carrying the puck on the PP. I would dump Anderson and insert Newhook into our PP 1. He can rush the puck and back off defenders.

They really need to do something with the special team sucking defensively. The first step is probably removing Savard from them or greatly reducing his TOI. He's back playing like the bottom pair dmen he is now in his career.

Split CC away from Suzuki. Return to RHP/Suzuki/Anderson from the end of last season. Try CC/Newhook/Slaf for a few games. Put Ylonen with Monahan and Pearson. Sorry Evans you get stuck with Gallagher, but only because the Habs refuse to bench him and call someone up. Dvorak return should fix this....but someone else will probably be injured by then.

Every time Suzuki doesn't play well the "mysterious injury" excuse is rolled out. I love the guy but why does he get plot armour? He can be criticized, it won't hurt him.

The last two times he played like shit for a long period of time, Suzuki admitted he was injured.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it more of a "yeah, everybody has a little something wrong during the season" sort of injured to which he admitted?

In any case, if he's injured he shouldn't be playing. The Habs are playing with fire like always.

Before Pearson's goal, that was some of the worst NHL hockey I've seen from any team. Yikes. No flow, no fight, no anything.

Honest question........ does MSL coach at all? We've run out the same PP with the same guys doing the same shit for 2 years now. It hasn't worked and hasn't looked like it's ever going to work. The last three games, we've gotten like 19 penalties... some we've def deserved and some we didn't at all. Guy doesn't break a sweat. I remember him being quite the fiery player when he needed to be. Nobody's being benched, no emotion toward the ref to wake the lads up, nothing. I find it very odd.
I think is problem right now, he wants to be friend with everybody and don’t make his player angry. He needs to picks tougher decision even if some are disagree

He was nowhere near anything good last night for sure.

(Unrelated) For the pp noone has stars to lean on they are either all kids or they suck. I think elite athletes (they all are, this is the nhl) really elevate their game when playing with the best, and the best are always on the other team.

Wow was last night a bad, deflating event..

I don't remember him saying what kind of injuries it was, so the "everybody has a little something during the season" crop up last year from the media to basically excuse why he's playing injured.

But "everybody little something" doesn't impact player's performance the way Suzuki is impacted by his.

I think we've already hit the point where Suzuki-Caufield need to be separated.

Ideally it'd be for Caufield to play for Dach, but here we are.
Suzuki is forcing a lot of passes to Cole. He's deliberately limiting his creativity. Also, he keeps passing up on shooting lanes to force a pass to Cole.

Too bad Dvorak is injured, because I'd really like to see the following with Dach out.

Newhook Suzuki Slaf
Caufield Monahan Anderson

I think the second best set up until then is

RHP Suzuki Anderson
Caufield Newhook Slaf

I agree. Like I want Slaf to succeed and I agree giving him opportunities is good but like... if Therrien or Julien were coaching last night when he took that second penalty on that PP that led to their 4th goal, he'd be sitting for like two weeks. He just goes out there next shift like, eh, whatever.

And I'm not saying I wish for the days of Therrien/Julien either, I'm saying I think he should have at least sat a shift or two. There's got to be some accountability mixed in despite the long leash.

Marty was benching Slaf last year for stupid plays. I am actually glad he didn't yesterday. After that stupid penalty Slaf looked much better.

That was so embarrassing. They were completely unprepared to play. How does that even happen? To boot, they lose Guhle now?!

We were always going to be bad this season, but with Dach out, and not probably Guhle, it'll just make the remainder of the games harder to watch.

I think the Dach injury had a huge affect on this team last night. No one seemed mentally ready to play.

Yeah, and I'm not trying to single Slaf out either, it was just one that came to mind. Xhekaj took a dumb penalty too at the end of the second, but Guhle was hurt at that point so I get why he didn't sit.

My point was that it's either we're so undisciplined that we've deserved all of these penalties, in which case the players need to wake the hell up and be held accountable. That comes down to Marty sitting some guys. OR some of the penalties we've been getting have been ridiculous, in which case Marty needs to wake the hell up and confront refs about some of these calls. 5 on 3s, double minors... The tripping call on Cole yesterday was atrocious. Anderson somehow gets a double minor when he and Erikson Ek both did the same amount of stuff. It makes no sense.

Either way, Marty is starting to turn into a new-aged Carbo to me. Just looks like he's content to just chill behind the bench and call out lines.

Glad Kovacevic turned it around in the second half of the game. Of course he's never going to score those chances, but he was pushing hard with to try to get us back into the game. He was atrocious, along with most players, in the first 35 minutes.
