I didn't see the game, how did Arber play after that horrendous gaffe that led to a goal?
You know he's probably my favourite after Suzuki but I have to admit it wasn't his best game. However he wasn't our worst out there either.

He took a penalty at the end of the second and I thought for sure he'd be stapled to the bench in the third. Didn't happen.

I think the X-factor was definitely there because it was one of the tamest games that I've seen the neanderthal Reaves play.

With Yoel playing a lot better, would it be worth trying him with Slaf and Suzuki? The problem is that there is even lesser chance Caufield can do anything productive on any other line. But... Yoel.

Harris shouldn't be in the NHL.
Caufield may end up with Dach next season. I've disliked the Suzuki/Caufield duo for most of this season.
They have their moments but the tunnel vision for each other gets on everyone's nerves after a while.

I have zero confidence in Matheson's ability to hold the line and keep plays alive.
Far too many pucks get by him that shouldn't. He really isn't an ideal PP specialist.
He can't be a PP QB unless he learns how run the blueline. He can't hold the line, he doesnt facilitate the puck movement and often misses open passes. He's certainly no Markov. Heck, I dont remember Drouin letting pucks go by him as often.

When everyone was seeing Caufield as a 50-goal scorer I saw him as a 30-goal guy and many of the posters here disagreed. I am interested in knowing if many of you are willing to temper your expectations now.
Also gotta take into account that he has a terrible shooting percentage this year. He'll probably hit 40 in normal years but if he's between a 70-80pt player, it's not a huge deal for me

No, because Caufield has to play with a playmaker. Unfortunately, Suzuki & Slafkovsky are our best playmakers. Everyone else is a grinder. I don't see him working well with Newhook, who really isn't much of a puck carrier or playmaker. Roy is really the guy who does that on that line.

I'd leave it for now. Caufield connected with Matheson on the 1st goal. His defensive game is improving a lot, but it's not at the level of Suzuki & Slafkovsky. He drags them down defensively, but works well with them offensively. He's making plays even if he's not scoring right now.

The league is about adjustments. Everyone knows he has the shot so they defend accordingly, it's up to him to find space and ways to get that shot off.

Clocks ahead tonight folks!

A healthy Dach will make a difference

Newhook is showing he has really good upside. Built like Mark Recchi but a much better skater. Recchi had great hands but was also blessed with playing with star players. Newhook is showing good promise.
I like him and might prefer him to Caufield on that left wing.
He's good enough to force plays towards Slaf and even though he's not fantastic along the wall he's better than Cole IMO.
Eventually that left wing will require a more rounded player to be considered a first line.

They’re trying to find some space and shooting lanes, Matheson should try to use Slaf more. One of the few times Slaf got the puck he made a great pass to CC who shot it and Suzuki could’ve had the rebound.
What played a big role in that failed pp was the fact that we had an EN and in those situations you end up being more patient....because any turnover could result in a goal.
Still, passing 10 times in the same small corner is not going to magically open lanes.

Flawed take. Those numbers were calculated when CC had only played 100 games in the league, it's not like we are looking at a guy with 500 games in the league with 250-300 goals.

I'm one of those guys (40-50 goals) and I have to say, I haven't changed my mind yet. I'm gonna give it another year and see.

Caufield is in fact a sniper. You haven’t seen him play prior to this season if you don’t know that lol.
I've seen him play before. he is still averaging 4 shots/game. but the power he showed previously isn't there. I think he's still hampered by the surgery. not worried. In the meantime, he's added to his game, including he's defensive play. Rome, built, day or something like that.
