No one cares
Suzuki and Caufield did an excellent job killing our powerplay by making 3ft passes to each other nonstop for 2 minutes.
The old Caufield would have gotten at least 2 shots off during that sequence but now he can't because teams are giving him more attention and he is unable to figure it out. Suzuki played his guts out again and Slaf was good. We simply lack the horses but the effort was admirable. The Leafs aren't a cup contender.

The regulation loss was for the best even if it was to the stinkin Leafs, who got all they could handle from the hard working Habs tonight. Very nice game from Slaf. He was hitting, winning puck battles and overpowering people and picked up a couple assists which was nice to see.

Watching Suzuki and Caufield pass the puck back and forth between the faceoff circle and the goal line and then switching positions and still doing the same was annoying AF though and killed far too much valuable time. No idea what they were even trying to do there really other than wasting precious time.

Everyone's hating, but that was actually a decent PP at the end. Leafs played well to close the front of the net too. Now that we have skilled guys who can do more than just shoot from everywhere everyone complains that they don't shoot enough...sigh.
Our PP problems are simple. We have very good power plays when Suzuki moves all over the place.
The problem is he has to expend so much energy setting up that Pejorative Slured drop pass he has no legs to do it once we gain the zone.
Watch how different it is when we control the puck off the draw his best opportunity came when he ended up on Slafs side.
He probably had a tap in if Eddy doesn't get a stick on it.
Newhook is out there and skates like the wind maybe he needs to carry the puck.
Matheson also skates like the wind maybe he should carry the puck.

followed up with a good play to kill a 2v1… pretty quiet, pressed offense a bit as the puck carrier at some point… Weird penalty for taking off a guy’s helmet in a scrum to end the 2nd.
I think he had like 7 shots on goal... Don't think any of them were dangerous though.

After starting the season with one assist in his first 13 games and finally given a chance on the 1st line Juraj Slafkovsky is showing why he was the first overall pick. This alone should fire everyone up! Just wait til he matures.

Slafkovsky was a beast tonight. Damn, he was awesome at both ends.

Suzuki got stronger as the game went on. They were checking him tight. Caufield is the weak link on that line right now. If Montreal could get another top line two-way player to go along with Suzuki & Slafkovsky that line is a two-way force.

Caufield would drop back to play with Dach.

Matheson & Guhle played strong games defensively. They did a solid job on Matthews & Nylander. Matthews had nothing tonight. Nylander had a couple of plays and that's it.

Struble-Harris sucked. They got buried in our end repeatedly. Struble might be better with a different partner. Guhle struggled horribly with Barron, when he finally got away from him (because Barron was sent down) his play improved 10-fold. I think Harris is dragging Struble down.

That last 6 on 4 also sucked. Zero movement, and Suzuki & Caufield were just passing the puck back & forth.

Oh well, overall, Montreal played well.

I guess Newhook we don't pass to? Guy was open numerous times, no pass.

With Yoel playing a lot better, would it be worth trying him with Slaf and Suzuki? The problem is that there is even lesser chance Caufield can do anything productive on any other line. But... Yoel.

Harris shouldn't be in the NHL.

He creates so much offense by using his size. Man if only KK could have done that. He's exciting to think where his game can go considering its only year 2.

Matthews just doesn't drive play like Mac and McD. He's a shooter with a great shot who can look disengaged all game and then finds a little open ice for a split second, gets a couple of passes and bang he finishes the game with 2 goals even while playing an overall mediocre game.
