That was a winnable game I think, but the team deflated after the goal called off for offside (except Slaf) + 3 blade problems, one goalie losing his stick and nobody picking it up. Lots of stupid stuff happening in the game.

Slaf played great. 7 shots on net.

Guhle is this team #1D, please coach realize and bump Matheson to the 2nd line and off the PP1.

This much be the shortest game ever too.

Our second periods are killing us in general. Losing the possession game coupled with the short change has bit us all year. That is when the lack of execution becomes so evident. Giving and receiving passes is supposed to be routine for top six quality players yet we have very few who can do it reguarly. What end up happening is what we saw nice effort.
Lol... This second period thing has been happening for more than 2 seasons now. Again... one of those things coaches need to figure out. well.. if they can.

Fun game. Team is working hard & playing with speed. Need more talent upfront obviously. Anderson & Newhook aren't top line players that's for sure. We really miss Dach.

D is looking good with Guhle & Xhekaj. Kovacevic is a solid depth D too. Barron is improving every game.

Allen had some huge saves to keep the game close.

It was a good weekend
I didn't like Harris at all particularly as a RD. I really hope Struble can become a long term solution for this club. We need his size and strength given how much time we spend in our own end.

Casey DeSmith gets the last laugh. Tbh, I had a feeling the game would go that way when Pearson hit the post.

The past 3 games + the Vegas game gives me hope that MSL will be able to coach a winning style of play. For the first time in a long time it seems all 4 lines can have constant pressure and scoring chances.

They need to keep playing with this identity and solidify that style of play until it becomes automatic throughout the line up. If they can keep this up, this team will be extremely fun to watch in 3 or so years once the dead weight is out and the young core solidified.

Whether they make it to the promise land or not, I think it will be a fun generation of Habs hockey

Slaf is on an exponential trajectory for the past 3 games, pretty good to see hehe.

Harris I hope is going upstairs once Savard is back. Habs need 2 more top 2 dman, at least. This group isn't gonna cut it. Honestly, the only 2 D I'd keep are Guhle and Wifi. With Savard as #6 perhaps. He can eat pucks on PK.

The Suzuki one in particular was weird as they were working on his skate before the PP even got started. Then not calling a time out when the Canucks took that second penalty was wrong IMO Nick loses his blade and Matheson ends up scoring.

Caufield is our best goal scorer and has to be better. He hasn't looked good at All this year outide the 3 on 3 bullshit. Has that massive contract and needs to be much better.
Caufield is great when he has time and space like PP and OT, has limitations 5 on 5 and will need to be surrounded properly. I could see Dach and Slaf being great linemates for him in the future, for now I just hope he stays healthy since there is 0 chance at playoffs anyway.

the roster makes it such that we will always be icing at least one flawed line :/
RHP - Suzuki - Anderson is worth trying again, even if it means pushing Newhook to the 3rd or even 4th line while the vets stay together.

RHP - Suzuki - Anderson
Slaf - Dvo - Caufield
Pearson - Monahan - Gallagher
Newhook - Evans - Ylonen/Pez

Maybe... just maybe, last year was an anomaly and this is the best we gonna get. One thing I have to say I do like about his game he doesn't shy away from contact. I mean, other players don't feel it really, but at least he doesn't do Drouin when it comes bumping into others.

I think we will see the team start dropping back in the standings by Mid December. Our record is where I thought it would be with a healthy Kirby Dach. Ultimately the lack of talent on the top end will relegate us. I don't think our D can make up for it offensively. 2 regulation wins is revealing.

So on D we are expecting some talent "soon"... Mallioux, Hutson, possibly RB... Who do we have that's talent that's coming up in the forward position? Roy is good but he is not elite scorer of course. I see him more like Plek's replacement. Beck is probably a better Evans. Who else? Is that really it?
