GDT: Habs @ Leafs - 7pm

Curious how our pk will fare throughout the year... I believe they said it will be a more aggressive PK (and it looks like it so far) which I believe suits out PK players.

Our top PKers are almost all speedster and therefore are better at closing down on players quickly. I think they struggle when they try to block lanes/play defense in a mostly stationary formation like some other teams can do successfully (other than Brodie and usually Muzzin).

All things considered, I think that's definitely the right call.
 
I can't speak for others here, but I'm not drawing much of any conclusions from our goals against this game, with regards to goaltending.

It wouldn't be fair to start harping on goaltending before they even play behind the proper defense they'll have.

I was a big fan of Simmonds as I was a big fan of Joe T. I always loved the guy but he sucks

On the Habs front, Ryan Poehling looks like a complete wasted pick. Remember the hype behind him after potting 3 in his debut game?

For a big man he gets bullied all over the ice.

Have a feeling if it's Muzzin or Holl on that PK, a guy is getting cleared out there so Mrazek can see.

There were few picks by the Habs that are like that. Remember Michael McCarron?

Seeing or not that goal probably shouldn't go through him I don't think. It didn't exactly snipe a corner.

mikheyev has never sucked, just been super unlucky

was always a damn good PKer and has some of the best speed in the NHL creating tons of breakaways

just he's had difficulty finding the back of the net

but he's not a star, he doesn't have those expectations... only hope. we don't expect him to be a good scorer, we just hope that he will become that.

I really liked him in his draft year, I'll have to hand my hfboards scouting card in :laugh:
 
honestly the leafs should be up 3-1 if not more. Really nice to see the movement of the puck on the PP. There is no way to game plan against quick puck movement. Mitch looks like he's really learning the bumper well, far far more mobile than JT was in that spot. Absolutely loved what I saw, and that was without Sandin and Auston
